NEWSLETTER

10TH MARCH 2013 — School Weeks 22/23

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL Dear Parents By the time you read this Newsletter, Britannica will have reached a milestone in its history – the enrolment of our 100th student. This represents tremendous growth since we first opened six months ago, when we had just over 50 students and we expect that by the start of next academic year, we will have doubled again to around 200. This rapid growth is testament to the excellent work done by our teachers and our support staff. They all deserve a special thanks for their contribution in helping to promote Britannica International School in the community and providing such a wonderful learning environment where happy children engage in the learning experience.

BRITANNICA

Book Week, always a popular event, has been celebrated in style and both staff and students have enjoyed a variety of literary experiences, including a Book Fair, hot chocolate and a very colourful Character Parade. There have also been some excellent book cover illustrations decorating classroom doors and are well worth seeing. On Monday 17th March, there will be a Parent / Teacher Conference from 4:00pm – 6:00pm. Letters will be sent home next week giving you an opportunity to make an appointment with the teachers, including specialist teachers. We very much hope that you will make every effort to attend to find out how your child has progressed.

wrote excellent descriptions of the Indian forest and the animals to make them come alive for the reader!

Year 6 In their Art lessons year 6 have been using the work of the artist Joan Miró as their stimulus. They have used his abstract designs, symbols and bold colours to create 3D sculptures out of cardboard. They have designed, painted and constructed them independently with fantastic results.

Year 2 “Year 2 have been learning about the history of communications from early cave paintings to radar transmissions in space.” They presented their findings to fellow students and their parents in a special assembly.
