CONCEPT

The theme that was given to us by Wigs & Warpaint for their 10th anniversary was: ‘NEON TRIBAL’. My concept is to create a ‘Hypebeast hairdressers’. I envisage models of both genders mingling with the guests whilst they get their haircut/styled and then walking up and down the runway modelling the clothes, Bright lights and metals will be used to create an array of colours around the room. Streetwear and the groups of people that wear these types of clothes are my main focus.

EVENT EVENT I decided to call my event ‘HYPE WALK’. Playing on the words ‘hypebeast’ and ‘catwalk’. I designed a couple of logos that will promote my event and hopefully attract my target audience.

L O G O

This is the logo design that I will be using for the fashion show. The contrasting colours are what stand out the most which will make it a memorable for the audience.

WORK D I S P L A Y

Whilst the models are getting their hair styled they will stand under something of a similar fashion. This will ensure that attention will equally be on them as well as the models that are walking up and down the catwalk.

This is how I envisage my catwalk to look like on the runway part of the catwalk. Neon lights hanging from the ceiling and a metal floor so they become reflective and thus create more colours.

A metal structure like this will hang in front of the spotlights which will create patterns on the runway floor. Making it more visually pleasing.

SPATIAL

LAYOUT

Hanging neon poles. hype walk posters hanging both sides of the main screen where my fashion film will be projected.

Light patterns caused by the coloured lights and the metal stencils that are in front of them,

Models under the spotlights having their hair styled. The other models walking around the spectators, making it very casual and intimate.

Reflective metal floor.

MODELS GIRLS

Ideally I want models who are very natural and minimalistic. This will make the clothing and the hair stand out more. Males & females of different races, ethnicities, heights and weights is what I envisage on the runway. To celebrate the ethnic diversity of our country.

BOYS

MAKEUP

HAIR

I visualise the models on the runway with wet, dewy, fresh skin. Very minimalistic and natural looking. OR they can have a statement look such as having boldly coloured eyes or lips. The models in my fashion film will be able to do their hair/makeup as they please. I want them to do their own take on my concept.

An array of hairstyles will walk down the runway. I personally like the ‘wet’ look where the hair is covering the face or tight, long, colourful cornrows. The pop of colour will make it more fun and visually pleasing.

MUSIC For my fashion film I am using music produced by my friend Lenus Hung. There is no real concept for my fashion film as I want the footage to be very raw and realistic. Using a VHS camera effect I hope to achieve this. I will be filming a young couple who are very much interested in streetwear. There will not be much directing in the film as I want to capture the relationship they have with eachother.

I chose to use the last track ‘away from boo’. After listening to the lyrics I felt like this song suited my footage better.
