INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM FOR AVIATION PHOTOGRAPHY

Welcome!

It’s a pleasure to welcome you to this, the 13th Annual… INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM for AVIATION PHOTOGRAPHY! Our mission is to provide a major international forum for the art and science of aviation photography; to provide a means for the exchange of aviation photography ideas, technique, philosophy, and equipment; and perhaps most importantly, to provide a mechanism for communication, education, and friendship among those who have a professional stake in, interest in, or simple love of aviation photography. We’re very pleased you could join us. We have a terrific schedule lined up and the slate of speakers and special guests is truly world class. On the following pages you will find a day-by-day, hour-by-hour program covering each of the next three days. We hope you will find many things of interest! Larry D. SPEAKERS

Mark Magin OnBoard Images has a superior reputation for providing top quality in-cockpit video systems for extreme environments including stock car racing, marine sports and aviation aerobatics. From the time he was a child, Mark had a passion for all things high performance. While attending the Florida Air Academy, he found he had a gift the ability to create, to engineer, to build. By integrating consumer video technology along with custom engineered components, Mark built a dependable, compact, high-quality video system. Organizations such as the Hooters USAR ProCup car racing series and the Unlimited Hydroplane Racing Association needed in-cockpit video for their television broadcasts. International Council of Air Shows relies on Mark to produce a multitude of videos for their annual trade conference, from the opening session video, and heartfelt memorial, to the comedic video and marketing presentation.

Dan Birman Daniel H. Birman Productions, Inc. is completing a documentary special about legendary aviator, Bob Hoover. His contributions to aviation began in WWII and at age 91, is still going strong. Birman is a contributing producer to Finding the Higgs Boson (wt) for NOVA on PBS. Birman wrote, produced, and directed the documentary, Brace for Impact: the Chesley B. Sullenberger Story for TLC and Discovery. Earlier, Birman produced a one-hour special for National Geographic Channel: Death of the Universe that explores new theories about how the universe will end. He produced, Europa: Mystery of the Ice Moon, a one-hour special for Science Channel about exploring a moon of Jupiter that just might support life. Birman serves on the Board of Governors for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences representing the Documentary peer group. Birman is also on the faculty at the USC Annenberg School of Journalism, where he teaches documentary production. Dan will be sharing with us his documentary: Perfecting Flight: Bob Hoover.
