WELCOME

Welcome to the ISB Residence. We look forward to having you stay with us as a Flexi or an Occasional boarder. The ISB Residence is a “home away from home”. We hope that you will enjoy your stay with us, take advantage of the facilities that ISB has to offer and of the chance to make new friendships with our 5- and 7- day boarders.

Flexi Boarding The opportunity for ISB day students to book a night (or nights) in Residence on a regular basis.

Occasional Boarding The opportunity for ISB students to book stays at the Residence on an irregular basis due to special circumstances. Maximum accumulated Stay (per academic year)

Minimum Stay

FlexiBoarding Occasional Boarding

One night per week, booked for at least a half term.

Limited to Monday - Thursday night bookings.

One night.

No weekend stays allowed unless part of a longer stay (10 nights or more).

80 nights per academic year (the equivalent of two nights per school week).

40 nights per academic year (the equivalent of one night per school week).

ISB guarantees that all Flexi and Occasional boarders will stay in single sex rooms.

Supervision in Residence Flexi and Occasional Boarding students receive the same level of support and supervision for the duration of their stay as 5- and 7- day boarders, including: √ Supervised evening homework time, √ Residence evening meeting, √ Dinner with Residence students and duty staff, √ Evening activities, √ Digital device policies and bedtime routines, √ Wake up calls and breakfast in Residence, √ 24-7 medical care through the ISB nursing team.

Catering Students are not expected to bring lunch and snacks to school during Flexi or Occasional boarding stays. All meals and snacks are provided from the point of check-in at 6:45am until checkout. • Lunch and Snacks: $10 credited to student canteen card (through Finances) per night booked, plus an additional $10 for the first day. This canteen credit is included in the overall cost of the stay. • Afternoon snack: with ISB Residence students in Residence, at 3pm. • Dinner: With ISB Residence students in the ISB canteen, at 6:15pm. • Breakfast: With ISB Residence students in Residence.

Laundry ISB laundry service will only be available to Flexi and Occasional boarders for stays of 2 or more consecutive nights. Students eligible for laundry services will follow the same processes as those in place for 5- and 7- day boarding students.

Medical Care Flexi and Occasional boarders have access to the same level of medical care as the other Residence students. • Students with medical requirements must ensure the booking form is completed correctly and any medication given to the Residence medical team on arrival. • In the case of illness, the parents/guardians of the students will be contacted. o If necessary, the Residence medical staff will decide whether the student requires immediate medical attention (RIPAS).

ISB Residence will guide your child through the procedures and expectations.

Online Booking System Flexi and Occasional bookings must be made at least 1 week in advance through the online form: Flexi and Occasional Boarding Online Booking Form. • Parents who will be overseas during the Flexi or Occasional Boarding stay are required to name a local guardian who will be responsible for the child in the case of a medical issue or if the student is required to be removed from Residence due to behavioural issues.

Cancellation of Bookings • Bookings cancelled with more than 24 hours notice will receive a refund of the cost minus 20% admin fee. • Bookings cancelled within 24 hours notice is not eligible for a refund.

Check-in • Upon received confirmation email from ISB Residence, both students and parents should report to the Residence at 6:45am on the first day of their stay. • Students will sign into the Residence logbook and be explained the Residence rules. • Residence duty staff will show them their room and any extra luggage will be dropped off. • At 7:00am students will go to the class registration with the other boarders.

ECAs and after school plans • During check-in, students will inform Residence staff of their after-school plans which could include ECAs, academic support sessions, sports training and/or evening rehearsals. • The student and Residence staff will agree the expected time that the student will return to Residence in the afternoon (either straight after school, or when their activities finish). • Students will sign into the Residence logbook on return to Residence. • Students staying multiple consecutive nights will confirm their afternoon plans for the following day with the Residence team during their evening Residence house meeting.

Check-out Procedures • Parents confirm the pick-up time with Residence during the check-in process. The pick up time will either be at the end of the school day or after the student completes ECAs and after-school activities. • Parents must collect their child from Residence and must meet the Residence duty staff to complete the check-out procedures. • Students will sign out with the Residence staff as they leave. o Students will pack all their belongings on the morning after their final night in Residence. o Extra luggage will be stored in Residence for the day.

EXPECTATIONS Packing List Please note that students are responsible for their own belongings at all times. ISB takes no responsibility for lost, damaged or stolen items. √ School bag with all the equipment for school including a laptop and charger √ Underwear, socks and uniform for the school day(s) √ PE and Sports kit (as required) √ Water bottle √ Casual clothes for the evening √ Pyjamas √ Slippers √ Wash bag including towels, toothbrush and toothpaste √ Musical instrument (if applicable) √ Reading book √ Any medication (all medication must be clearly labelled and given to the Residence staff on arrival)

Expectations of Behaviour Excellent standards of behaviour are expected of all students who stay in Residence. Flexi and Occasional boarders are required to meet the expectations of the ISB Behaviour policy and the Residence rules at all times. If there is a serious breach of these rules, they will be removed from the Residence. In this situation, the student will no longer be able to access the Flexi or Occasional Boarding schemes for the rest of the academic year. Relevant ISB policies can be found on the StudentZone including: • Behaviour Policy • Drugs, Alcohol and Tobacco Policy • Internet use and monitoring Policy • Boarding E-Safety Policy • Residence Anti-bullying Policy

Prohibited Items A full list of prohibited items at ISB can be found in the Behaviour Policy and the Drugs, Alcohol and Tobacco Policy. Possession of any of the following items would result in immediate removal from the ISB Residence: • • • •

Drugs (all prescription medication must be submitted to the Residence Medical team on arrival), Alcohol and Tobacco products, Explicit material – either printed or electronic, Dangerous items.

Note: Students are reminded that the use of a VPN to bypass school internet security systems is banned whilst using devices on the ISB campus.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS 1. There is limited availability for Flexi and Occasional Boarding. Flexi Boarding bookings will be prioritized over Occasional Boarding bookings on a first come, first served basis. 2. Flexi and Occasional Boarding students will be allocated to bedrooms by the ISB Residence Team. ISB guarantee that the bedrooms will be single-sex, but Flexi and Occasional Boarding students will not get the option to choose their own roommates. 3. Flexi and Occasional Boarding is available for all Year 7 to Year 13 ISB day students. 4. There are limits on the maximum number of Flexi Boarding (80) and Occasional Boarding (40) nights per academic year. 5. Flexi and Occasional Boarding is available Monday-Thursday. Friday night and weekend stays are only possible if the student books 10 or more consecutive nights in Residence. 6. Booking for Flexi and Occasional Boarding is completed using the online form, available in the Links section of EduLink. 7. Your booking request will be sent to the Residence Team and we will email parents an invoice if the booking dates are available. Bookings are not confirmed until payment is made by parents. 8. Payment for Flexi and Occasional Boarding must be made in full, at least 24 hours in advance of the first night's stay. Payment can be made through bank transfer or in person at the ISB front office. 9. Parents who will be overseas during the Flexi or Occasional Boarding stay are required to name a local guardian who will be responsible for the child in the case of a medical issue or if the student is required to be removed from Residence due to behavioural issues. 10. Flexi and Occasional Boarding students will receive full support from the Residence staff and are eligible for any planned evening activities. 12. Flexi and Occasional Boarding students are provided with a full meal and snacks plan, so they should not bring any outside food, meals or snacks for their stay in Residence. 13. Flexi and Occasional Boarding students will receive $10 on their canteen card for lunch and snacks per night booked, plus an additional $10 for the first day. Breakfast, afternoon snacks and dinner will be served in with other Residence students and Residence staff. 14. Flexi and Occasional Boarding students must report to the ISB Residence at 6:45am in the morning of their first night's stay to check-in and complete the Residence briefing. 15. Flexi and Occasional Boarding students are responsible for ensuring they bring with them all necessary clothing and school equipment. ISB Residence is not liable for any lost or damaged items. 16. Flexi and Occasional Boarding students must not bring any prohibited items to the ISB Residence. A student who is found to have prohibited items will be immediately removed from Residence. 17. Flexi and Occasional stays of two or more consecutive nights will be eligible for the ISB laundry service. This is not applicable for a single night stay. 18. Students must complete the check-in and check-out procedures as instructed by Residence staff. 19. The ISB Residence medical team are available for all Flexi and Occasional Boarding students. In the case of medical emergency, parents/guardians will be contacted immediately, and the Residence medical staff will decide if the student needs emergency care or to be taken to RIPAS. 20. Flexi and Occasional Boarding students who require medication must submit it to the Residence staff on arrival. 21. Flexi and Occasional Boarding students are required to meet the expectations of the ISB Behavior Policy and the Residence rules at all times. If there is a serious breach of these rules, Flexi and Occasional Boarding students will be removed from the Residence. In this situation, the student will no longer be able to access the Flexi or Occasional Boarding schemes for the rest of the academic year.
