Parents Promoting Health (PPH) ~ Sign-Up Today! ~

We can agree that kids face tough odds when it comes to health. Today’s youth... • • • • •

have less access to nutrient-dense food have less time to play during the school day have fewer playgrounds in their neighborhoods eat more food on-the-go and are more likely to be overweight/obese

...than kids of previous generations. Our kids need chances to be healthier. They need to gain skills. They need our support so they can beat the odds of our currently unhealthy food/exercise environments. The Parents Promoting Health (PPH) project is a new community program. PPH’s goal is to reduce childhood obesity. We aim to do this by learning with you - parents and guardians of our local kids. In PPH, we will focus on skill-building related to shopping, prepping, and eating good food. We will share ideas for picky eaters, quick meals, and fun snacks. We will learn about and respond to each family’s unique situation. We will learn together how to better support all of our kids! We hope we can count on your help to make PPH happen! We need parents/guardians from the Parents Policy Council to participate in the PPH pilot and provide us with feedback. We need YOU to shape the future of this project! We are happy to talk with you about PPH and answer any questions you may have.

Benefits of PPH • Parents/guardians join an 8-hour nutrition program. Workshops can be scheduled in 1-2 hour increments at times and locations that are good for you! • Workshops are high energy, interactive, and fun! • Workshops include great perks, including: o Lots of food tastings, games, and prizes o Metro fare cards o Childcare • Parents/guardians will get to build personal experiences and expertise into the workshops! • Parents/guardians will have many chances to lead others in skillbuilding exercises! • Parents/guardians will be featured in the final curriculum (if desired)! • Kids will get to participate in similar workshops!
