INTRODUCTION Learning Services for Young Children Ages Birth to Three Litchfield is privileged to have services for young children in need of learning and developmental support. Our team of teachers offer services for children in need of physical therapy, deaf and hard of hearing services, vision impairment, autism, speech and developmental delays, and other health impairments. Early Intervention Birth to Three services include: A comprehensive evaluation for children suspected of experiencing a delay in development when compared to typically developing children. Once identified, a child and family are offered individualized services to enhance the development of that child. Area school districts work together cooperatively to fund this program at no cost to families through special education funding. Agencies within the county may also be a part of evaluating and providing services to families. These services cover all five areas of development: Cognitive, physical, communication, social/emotional and adaptive behavior services. This service is free for families that qualify through the School District. Services are tailored to provide families with strategies or ideas to meet their child’s developmental needs. Most services are provided in the child’s home but can be given in other settings such as daycare or preschool. If you have concerns about a child’s development, visit helpmegrowmn.org. Anyone can refer a child for help. The referral system is directly attached to our local providers. The website also includes good information on the developmental milestones of a young child’s life. A Litchfield parent says “The Litchfield teachers are amazing at working with young children. They do a fantastic job creating a learning environment through play. They genuinely enjoy what they do and it shows! My child has been out of the program for over a year now and they still check on him to see how he is doing!” Take advantage of this awesome program for the young children you love!

Programs are for families with children birth to pre-k. All programs include a rich variety of experiences that promote the growth and development of young children. All programs involve parents AND children. Research and experience shows that children whose parents are involved early in their education do better in school. Parent discussion time allows parents to connect, develop relationships, gain support, and learn new parenting skills. We want to partner with parents to provide the best family education experience available.

Tasha believes physical health is closely connected with mental/emotional and spiritual health. As your physical health improves, the other areas of your life begin to improve as well. Tasha worked as a Sports Medicine Assistant throughout college which gave her the opportunity to be surrounded by athletes and continue growing her knowledge base of the human body. For the last two years, Tasha has designed her own workout programs and experimented with lots of equipment and different exercises. In 2003, he received his Tae Kwon Do Instructor Certification from Senior Grand Master Hee Sang Ro and started teaching Tae Kwon Do through community education in Winthrop and in 2005 started teaching in Litchfield. In 2008, Scott purchased Crow River Martial Arts from his first instructor, Mr. Campa and ran classes in Hutchinson, Winthrop and Litchfield. His current instructor is Senior Grand Master Hee Sang Ro, who’s father was one of the original 5 founders of modern Tae Kwon Do. Scott has his 4th degree Black Belt in Song Moo Tae Kwon Do, 3rd degree Black Belt from the Kukkiwon in South Korea and has been trained in Jiu Jitsu. Scott’s wife, April, who’s assisted him throughout his 16 years of teaching, his daughter and son, all have Black Belts in Tae Kwon Do. Thank you for sharing your passion and talent, Scott! You will be missed! If you have a picture that you would like to see featured in one of our guides, you have a talent you would like to share or a class you would like to see offered, we would love to hear from you!
The photograph on the front of the guide is of 6 year old, Hudson Peterson of Litchfield. It was taken on the dock at Lake Ripley campground by his mom Katie Peterson. Hudson and his family stayed at the campground during Watercade week. Hudson loves fishing at Lake Ripley because there's always something to catch so he's never bored! Thank you for sharing this captivating picture with us, Katie!
