The project aims to investigate how the trend of increasing CO2 emission from goods delivery can be changed. Starting to look at other approaches and questioning the vision of Stockholm, a new concept of Cargo Tram is tested out. Several stations along the cross-tram line are proposed to be transformed into Market Hubs that serves both the need of personal- and goods delivery. In Valla Torg, a Market hub is further developed as a showcase to explain the new way of understanding the trams cross-tramline´s role in future Stockholm.

Currently, most of the food dielverd to Stockholm arrives to these main warehouses by train of lorries. Then the food is reloaded to smaller lorries and transported into town. The strategy aim to replace the lorries by using the existing cross-tram line in Stockholm, creating a circut of local distribuion points in form of Market Hubs. The Market Hub serves as well local shops, neighbourhoods and visitors.

SITE STRATEGY // IMPLEMENTING MARKET HUB
S S
Today the tramline is a barrier between the neigbourhoods
The existing plan for 2020, aims to
Our strategy - Integrate the public transport into the niegbourhoods, creating two main cores of services that work as a meeting point for the communities, furthermore we aim to improve the urban and green connections between this two neighborhoods.
develop the area by adding several square meters of housing and services, but still proposes nothing to connect the neighborhoods or improve the existing station

Perspective Market Hub
CARGO TRAM 4:00 - 5:00
Coming back to the overall goals we expect that this circuit of market hubs and the distribution of goods by tram lead to reducion of trucks wich means an important reducion of CO2 emissions.

The market have different functions serving different target groups as local shops, the market retailers and the vistors and passangers of the tram. We aim to achive this by developing a time table where the activities are arrenged.
