Safe Mothers and Newborns Accelerating the Reduction of Maternal and Neonatal Mortality: A Leadership Workshop
WHAT: “Accelerating the Reduction of Maternal and Neonatal Mortality: A Leadership Workshop” will provide participants from high-burden countries with the technical knowledge and leadership skills they need to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality. Participants will gain knowledge on: • Main determinants and global trends in maternal and neonatal mortality. • Evidence-based interventions for improving maternal and newborn health and survival, and potential delivery platforms. • Available metrics for monitoring and evaluating progress, and indicators for assessing the quality and coverage of maternal and newborn health interventions. They will also develop and strengthen: • Problem solving and analytical skills needed to lead, design, implement, evaluate and improve policies and strategies in the countries where they work. • Effective leadership and programme management strategies to scale-up interventions and successfully reduce maternal and neonatal mortality.
WHEN: 10-15 July, 2016 WHERE: Boston, USA WHO: Mid-career professionals and decision-makers from countries with a high burden of maternal and newborn mortality who have proven experience in reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health and current responsibilities in the health sector. We are able to admit 30 participants into the 2016 workshop.
