The Town of North Bennington, Vermont presents “Lucky Thirteen,” the 13th Annual North Bennington Art Park outdoor sculpture exhibition opening this Saturday, July 17 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in North Bennington, Vermont. One-Stop Enrollment at SVC

Entering first-year and transfer students will have an opportunity to enroll on the spot at Southern Vermont College (SVC) in Bennington, Vermont on Thursday, July 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Admissions Office. In one day, prospective students can complete the admissions process, tour the campus, learn more about transfer credits, find out about scholarships and financial aid, register for classes and have the application fee waived. Scholarships and grants may be awarded to students who qualify. Individuals are asked to bring copies of SAT scores, transcripts from all schools attended and letters of recommendation, if available. Caregiver Gatherings

Families Together offers two monthly opportunities for caregivers to meet. 4-H Group Begins in Bennington

Applegate Housing in Bennington, Vermont has started a 4-H group for Bennington County residents. 4-H is a world leader in helping youths develop and become productive citizens who will be able to meet the needs of a diverse and changing society. Applegate is offering a 4-H program on-site in its Community Kitchen called Exploring Farm Animals. Fingerprinting for CDL Drivers

Bennington County Sheriff Chad D. Schmidt has announced that the Sheriff ’s Office is now able to fingerprint CDL drivers with Hazmat endorsements. Hubbard Hall Curiosity Forum Welcomes Author Kessler

The Curiosity Forum in Cambridge, New York will welcome acclaimed novelist Brad Kessler to its podium this Sunday, July 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cambridge Farmers’ Market located in the Freight Yard, behind Hubbard Hall in Cambridge. The Farmers’ Market takes place every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. “Goat Song” tells about what it’s like to live intimately with animals who produce food. As Kessler begins to live the life of a herder — learning how to care for, breed and birth goats — he encounters the pastoral roots of so many aspects of Western culture. Kessler reflects on the history and literature of herding, and how diet, the alphabet, religions, poetry and economy all grew out of a pastoralist milieu among hoofed animals. New Adult Recreation Program

The City of Pittsfield (Massachusetts) Department of Community Development Parks and Recreation Program and Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP) has announced a new program called Rec-reating Pastimes. Rec-reating Pastimes is a program meant to give adults a chance to get outside, meet new friends and have some fun. Rec-reating Pastimes is a free, month-long program through July 30 for adults. The program will run from 9 a.m. to noon on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at Belanger Park; the main entrance to the park is off of Newell Street, close to East Street. Activities will include track walking from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., table activities from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and field games from 11 a.m. to noon. Summer Playground Program The Department of Community Development Recreation Program has announced that it will be continuing the Summer Parks Playground Program at four city parks in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The program offers a wide variety of recreation activities to city children at no cost. Playground leaders will create safe, supervised and fun-filled environments with activities including sports, games, arts and crafts and nature activities. Insect Safari

There’s no need to travel to the Serengeti Plain or the Brazilian rainforest to discover a tremendous diversity of life. Local fields, wetlands and forests hold an amazing array of insects. Among the most active and colorful are butterflies. Their lesser known cousins, the moths, are camouflage experts in order to evade predators. Damselflies and dragonflies are colorful, active and interesting aerial predators. On Thursday, July 15 from 10 a.m. to noon explore Pleasant Valley Wildlife Sanctuary’s varied habitats in Lenox, Massachusetts in search of all manner of insects. Village Harmony at Hubbard Hall The Hubbard Hall favorite Village Harmony returns to the Hall in Cambridge, New York on Tuesday evening, July 20 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available for a suggested donation of $10, or $5 for students and seniors. Music From Salem Concert

Hubbard Hall Projects in Cambridge, New York presents the second summer concert of the Music from Salem chamber music series, Symphony for Four, at 2 p.m. this Sunday, July 18. Symphony for Four features a charming and brilliant arrangement of Beethoven’s first Symphony by his contemporary, Johann Nepomuk Hummel. Manchester Music Festival at SVAC

The Manchester Music Festival’s (MMF’s) 36th consecutive season continues with a Thursday evening concert featuring two pieces from the Baroque period and one of Antonin Dvorak’s early string quintets. The July 15 concert starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Arkell Pavilion at the Southern Vermont Arts Center in Manchester, Vermont. Scored for two flutes, solo violin and string ensemble with harpsichord continuo, Bach’s Fourth Brandenburg Concerto is one of his most famous works. Lively and bright, like the others in the collection, this piece shows the lighter side of the composer’s genius. Vivaldi’s Concerto for two cellos in G minor is the second Baroque work, and Antonin Dvorak’s ‘Bass’ Quintet No.2 in G Major rounds out the program. BAG Hosts Guest Artists

Bennington Arts Guild (BAG) in Bennington, Vermont welcomes two guest artists, Bill Botzow and Dr. Steve Anisman, this Saturday night, July 17 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a “Meet the Artist” Gallery Opening. The majestic beauty of Alaska inspires Botzow’s watercolors and graphite drawings on rice paper. The metal sculptures of Anisman use lines to create motion and change and produce a visual rhythm. ‘Season of Mystery’ Outdoor Movies

Beginning this Friday, July 16 and continuing every Friday evening through September 3, the Bennington Museum in Bennington, Vermont will host outdoor movies that will include favorite classic mystery flicks. Circus Minimus Returns to Brattleboro

Through Circus Minimus, 45 area students ages 7 to 13 are studying introductory tumbling, clowning, juggling, tightwire, partner acrobatics, stilts, unicycling and more. Hymn Sing and Great Organ Music

The Bennington Museum in Bennington, Vermont will offer State of Craft Community Days on July 17 and 18 in celebratoin of the State of Craft Exhibit currently on view at the museum. A suggested donation reflecting the admission price to the Bennington Museum in 1970 will be $1 for adults over 18 and seniors. Children and students under 18 will be admitted free. There will be live demonstrations, craft activities for children, great food, live music and the opportunity to meet and purchase the works of talented craftspeople. Cambridge United Presbyterian News

The Cambridge United Presbyterian Church in Cambridge, New York had its annual Fourth of July church service in the yard of the Cambridge Embury Methodist Church. People attended from six different churches around the area. The new Pastor of the Methodist Church was introduced, Rev. Margaret Moore, who took part in the service, and Rev. Richard Hoffman gave the sermon as his last farewell. Next Sunday, the church will host Rev. Cheryl Colt from Glens Falls, New York who will serve Communion. The worship service is at 10 a.m. at 81 East Main Street in Cambridge. All are welcome. For more information, call 518-677-3863.

Guest Preacher at Federated Church

The Federated Church of East Arlington, Vermont welcomes back guest preacher Rev. Constance Moser, who will lead worship at 10 a.m. this Sunday, July 18 at The Federated Church of East Arlington on Ice Pond Road. The choir will be conducted and accompanied by Music Director Paul Opel. Following worship all are invited to Bailey Hall for refreshments and fellowship. Before the worship service, the Men’s Fellowship will meet at 8 a.m. for their monthly breakfast meeting in Bailey Hall. The Children’s Sunday Program will not be in session over the summer, but children are always welcome to participate in the service. The Men’s Fellowship is seeking donations for its Annual Country Benefit Auction August 7. Donations of bedding, bicycles, clothing and electronics cannot be accepted. All proceeds will benefit local, national and international charitable organizations. To arrange for pickup, call the church office at 802-375-2548.
