• researcher at the Institute of Ancient Near Eastern Studies of the University of Rome (1970-1980) • associate professor of Oriental archaeology at the Oriental University Institute of Naples (1980-1990) • full professor of Archaeology and history of art of the ancient Near East at the Oriental University Institute of Naples (since 1990)

• more than one hundred scientific articles and essays on Syrian, Yemeni and Ethiopian archaeology • five books on specific Near Eastern archaeology themes • one popular book on South Arabian archaeology (in Italian and English)
