Gopastami Gopastami was celebrated on the 2nd. Gopastami marks the day that Krishna enters the pauganda age (boyhood) and is given permission to herd the cows. In Chapter 15 of Krishna book Srila Prabhupada desctibes this transcedental activity: “In this way, Sri Krsna, along with His elder brother Balarama, passed the childhood age known as kaumara and stepped into the age of pauganda, from the sixth year up to the tenth. At that time, all the cowherd men conferred and agreed to give those boys XIP IBE QBTTFE UIFJS mGUI ZFBS DIBSHF PG UIF cows in the pasturing ground. Given charge of the cows, Krsna and Balarama traversed 7SOEBWBOB QVSJGZJOH UIF MBOE XJUI ʾFJS footprints.” On this day Krishna feeling great separation from Radhrani asked his dear friend Subala to bring Radha to meet him. Subala is very expert in these activities. He found Srimati Radharani and came up with a plan. Subala would dress as Radharani and take her place while Radharani would dress as Subala and go to the forest to meet Krishna. Devotees were treated to a very special darshana on this day. Srimati Radharani was dressed as a gopa.
