Salaah facilities available for travellers A new and much-needed Salaah facility has opened at Port Elizabeth Airport. It caters for males and females and has Wudhu facilities as well. The Council of Ulama Eastern Cape (CUEC) was consulted on the planning phases and was instrumental in getting permission for the facilities.

Members of the CUEC officially opened the facilities. Muslim tourists and journalists will be able to make use of the Musalla. It also adds convenience for local Muslims and their families when leaving for Hajj and Umrah, as well as Muslims travelling within South Africa.

The Musalla serves as a visible sign of Islam at a venue which sees a large number of non-Muslims passing through daily.

From the Marital Desk From the many cases being dealt with by the Marital Department of the Council of Ulama Eastern Cape, it has been found that the internet, Mxit, etc. are among the major causes of breakdowns in marriage.

Since it is extremely difficult for either spouse to constantly monitor the usage of the internet by the other, the onus is upon each individual to use it responsibly. Bear in mind that even 'friendly chatting' with the opposite sex is not permissible and eventually leads to problems in the marriage. Save your marriage; stay away from intermingling, chatting, sending sms messages, etc. to people whom Shari'ah has forbidden one to have contact with.

This does not only apply to married persons, but also to those not as yet married. Any type of contact with Ghayr Mahrams, irrespective of the intention, e.g. we are just friends, etc. is forbidden for all, whether married or unmarried.

A: You can make the intention of zakaat as long as the money is still in the ownership of that poor Muslim. (Raddul Muhtaar) Q: If a person passes away leaving behind a pregnant wife when must his inheritance be divided?

A: It is better to divide his inheritance after the birth of the child. However if the inheritors cannot wait then a males share will be kept aside for the pregnancy. If a girl is born then the shares will be adjusted accordingly.

Q: Can one break ones nafl salaah in order to join the janaaza salaah?

A: Yes one can break ones nafl salaah and join the janaazah salaah when one fears one will miss the janaazah salaah. However one cannot break a fardh salaah to join a janaazah salaah.

Q: If a woman becomes a murtadd (apostate) with the intention of breaking her nikah (marriage) will her nikah break?

A: To do so is extremely wrong and she should renew her imaan (faith) immediately. However, despite doing this her nikah does not break.
