Most residents know this natural wonder as Big Beach, but it’s also known as Makena Beach or Oneloa Beach. HAMOA The world-famous Hamoa is one of Maui’s most untouched beaches. A local favorite for swimming, surfing and lounging on the sand, the black-sand beach is the perfect place to enjoy a picturesque day on Maui's most eastern shore. The picture-perfect crescent beach is near the heart of Hana town, and surrounded by cliffs with two points of public access. When there are big swells local residents surf its waves, which are ideal for swimming on calm, sunny days.
BALDWIN BEACH With about a mile of perfect white sand, Baldwin Beach is one of Maui residents’ favorite north shore beaches. The beach ideal for running or sunset strolls, where you can always find a private place to set up towels and beach chairs simply because it's so expansive. On weekends, the beach is a favorite for families to host parties or barbecues on the sand or pavilion area. One end of the beach is home to Baby Beach, a favorite among families with young children because it's protect by a barrier reef. The opposite end of Baldwin Beach, which is closer to Paia town, offers a cove perfect for swimming.

PO'OLENALENA BEACH For years, Po'olenalena Beach was one of Maui locals’ best kept secrets. The expansive white-sand beaches is one of the largest in Wailea, but is less trafficked because its farther from the region’s major resorts and condominiums. The secluded beach has soft, fine sand and crystal clear waters. In the winter, watch humpback whales breaching while lounging on the shore, or boogie board on days when the swell comes up. The beach is also perfect for snorkeling.
