American Samoa's National treasure

The National Park of American Samoa is a breathtakingly beautiful park located on the islands of Tutuila, Ofu, and Ta‘ū in American Samoa. Established in 1988, the park covers 13,500 acres of land and sea, making it one of the most unique national parks in the United States. It is one of the few national parks in the world that is home to coral reefs. The park's coral reefs are home to a diverse array of marine life, including sea turtles, dolphins, and whales. Visitors can explore the park's coral reefs through snorkelling and scuba diving, and experience the beauty of the underwater world.

The National Park of American Samoa also offers visitors the opportunity to hike through pristine rainforests, swim in crystal-clear waterfalls, and learn about Samoan culture and traditions. With its stunning natural beauty and cultural significance, the National Park of American Samoa is a must-visit destination for anyone travelling to American Samoa!

Hook the fish of a lifetime

American Samoa is considered one of the best fishing locations in the Pacific and the crew to put you on the right spot is Pago Pago Marine Charters. Their charter packages include specialties in game fishing, scuba diving, whale watching and general sightseeing tours. (It is not just about the fishing!) The company operates out of the Pago Pago Harbour, a beautiful deep-water harbour that offers shelter in all conditions.

Their boats have all the latest technology, including sonar systems and fishfinding software. Plus they have all the high-quality gear to secure a catch. And needless to say, they have all the modern safety equipment onboard.

Play a round at Ili’ili Golf Club

Did you know that American Samoa has an 18-hole golf course? It’s located in the village of Ili’ili in the southwest of Tutuila Island. Ili’ili Country Club, set on 120 tropical acres, started out as a 4-hole course in the 1970s. Shortly afterwards, it expanded to 9 holes before growing to a full 18-hole layout in 1987.

The greens are well-maintained, and the fairways are well-defined, offering a variety of shots and challenges for players to enjoy. The clubhouse is a charming, rustic building that offers a relaxing atmosphere for golfers to unwind after their game. Whether you're a seasoned golfer or just starting, the golf course on American Samoa provides a truly unique golfing experience.

Soak up local history at Government House

If you visit American Samoa, one building that stands out is the Government House in Pago Pago. This historic building has played an important role in the island's history. It was constructed in 1903 during the period of American rule and has served as the official residence of the Governor of American Samoa ever since. It also has its fair share of stories. In 1942, during the Battle of the Coral Sea, the Governor of American Samoa allowed a group of wounded Australian soldiers to be treated at the Government House, which had been converted into a makeshift hospital. This act of generosity is still remembered and celebrated today.

Visitors to the Government House can tour the building and its beautiful grounds, which feature tropical plants and trees. The building itself is a stunning example of colonial architecture, was listed on the United States National Register of Historic Places in 1972, and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1990. For those interested in American Samoa's history and culture, the Government House is a must-visit destination!
