Eagle Extra
OCTOBER 2023
Road Project Update
Submitted by Elida Ramberger, Roads Committee Chair
It is expected that at the time you are reading this issue of the Eagle, the roads restoration project has commenced.
The schedule we anticipated has been modified to take advantage of some coordination efforts. Already underway is drainage remediation. The companies that are providing services and materials are Stantec Consultants, C Squared CGC, Gator Paving, Terracon, Turtle Infrastructure Partners, Ajaz Paving Industries, and Preferred Materials.
Stantec Consultants are advocates for The Landings, designed the engineering specifications for drainage remediation, pedestrian safety measures being added, and roadway restoration.
These companies are experts in their field. They will observe environmental precautions, manage traffic, and oversee safety for their job sites and our roads when they leave at the end of the day. (They will coordinate driveway access. No one should experience any difficulty.) The engineer on site will oversee the project. His responsibility is to meet the construction plan specifications.
This special issue of the Eagle incudes two maps. The larger map illustrates the entire neighborhood and will be used throughout the project. This map is on the back page of insert).
The smaller map located in this article identifies where specific areas of the project will occur in the upcoming weeks. For example, the smaller map in this month’s Eagle identifies the areas of Pintail Way and Starling Drive.
The good news is that milling and paving will begin about the time the Eagle is delivered.
The plan, as this article is written on September 16, is to mill and pave from the south end of the neighborhood and move north. The goal is to avoid driving heavy equipment on newly paved roads. Drainage remediation will occur simultaneously.
Drainage remediation, primarily to be performed by C Squared, the concrete contractor to Gator Paving, will address drainage issues, including road slopes and management of underground storm water.
Our roads are the first element in the management of water that traverses our neighborhood and terminates in the bay. (Our lakes are an integral part of that process.) Important to remember is that our storm water management responsibility extends from Route 41 at the auto dealer to the south to the steakhouse restaurant to the north.
The larger map is highlighted to shows the entire neighborhood and roads that will be restored (The Treehouses and Peregrine Point roads are not being milled and paved). Milling and paving of parking pads will likely begin at the outset of milling and paving Starling Drive.
Please remember that all e-mail content is posted to The Landings website, as well. There will be weekly construction plan meetings to develop a two-week plan that will be shared via e- mail. The committee will e-mail residents with updates. (If you know anyone who is not receiving these e-mails and would like to, please ask them to be added to the list by contacting Emily Riddle, Pinnacle Community Property Management at emily@ pinnaclecam.com.) Project updates are posted to The
Roads Committee page on the Landings website, thelandingsofsarasota.com. After you Log In to the site, select “LMA” from the top navigation bar, then “Committees”, then “Roads” or simply click on this link: https://residents.thelandingsofsarasota.com/ roads-committee/. All updates will be available, by date and title.
