CANADIAN CLUB Well, things are in full gear with everyone playing cards, shuffleboard, water aerobics, and bingo (your writer has been quite successful at this, winning three times in one night. I truly thought I would be asked to leave!) So much to do, so little time. When you read this, we will be starting to think about our return to the north. We have a number of new Canadians this year and it has been so much fun to meet them and share stories. The February dinner of stuffed chicken breasts prepared by the Sharp’s and Redgers was delicious. Thank you everyone for the salads, sides and desserts. And that homemade ice cream cake made by Anne was so yummy.
Our March dinner is being hosted by Elaine & Peter who are supplying a fav northern meal of flank steak. A request is out for another meat entrée, so please let Dave Sharp, Patti Thompson or Brenda Redgers know what you can bring.
Again, if we have missed any new Canadians please let them know about the March dinner. Looking forward to seeing everyone again for a social evening. We have an activities meeting in March to discuss events for the year 2020- 2021, so if anyone has any ideas they want to be brought up please let us know. See you soon. Brenda Redgers

MIDWEST CLUB NEWS On January 10th, the sports fans in the Midwest Club gathered for the first meeting of the New Year. Members showed their allegiance to their favorite teams with their colorful jerseys and showed off their football knowledge in a Trivia Game. Many participated in the football pool set up by Dale Holat. Thanks, Dale. The winners of the pool were: Rick Lubich, Bill Goodhue, Kent Hetzer, and Moe Chouinard. Congratulations!
Our treasurer, Peggy Gamble, shared that through the many very generous donations of Midwest Club members to the bake sale, $770.00 was raised and given to Hearts and Homes for Veterans. Another $505.00 was sent to the Gabriel House at the holidays. Both organizations were very appreciative and amazed at the generosity of our club.
As this article is being written, the Midwest Club is working on their Mardi Gras Party to be held February 21st. The Clubhouse will be festooned in purple, green, and gold and a game of Mardi Gras bead hot potato is being planned to help us pick a King and Queen of the Mardi Gras meeting. A game of Mardi Gras Bingo will also occur. The Midwest’s own chef, Bob Polenska, will be preparing Jambalaya with the help of his sous chefs: Rick Lubich, Spike Makia, Ron Mester, and Gale Pinelli. Desserts and Salads will be provided by our other talented cooks in the Midwest Club.
We are also looking forward to our March meeting during which the Midwest Club will celebrate National Pie Month.
More details on both of these meetings will be reported in the April issue of The Columns. You will just have to wait until then to learn who won the crowns for Mardi Gras and what mystery pies were served at the March meeting.

NEW ENGLAND CLUB AS WE WELCOME SPRING, WE DON’T WANT YOU TO BRING A THING!!!
Saturday, March 21st, at 5:00 PM is our “Welcome Spring” Party and we will be having a great party! The Club will supply beer, wines and soda. On the Menu: Burgers on the grill, Potato salad and Penne a la Carol. Our favorite dessert of Hot Fudge Sundaes will be served.
We have a new game called New England Bingo to play, so we do need each person to bring 25 nickels, dimes, pennies or quarters to use on your bingo cards in lieu of daubers. Very important to bring those coins. And raffles $$ of course. Sign-ups for this party, as always, are mandatory and the deadline is Saturday, March 14th. Dues must be paid to attend this party or you can pay them at the door for our late arriving New Englanders. Thank you to all the Club members who baked for our Fabulous Fifties Dance Party. Thanks to all of you, we had an impressive dessert buffet. Get your game face on!! Our final party, our Bon Voyage, will be on Saturday, April 11th, and it will be a sports-themed Pot Luck. More details to come on that. Hope to see all of you on Saturday, March 21st.

TARA WOODS COMPUTER CLUB
Welcome back to our Winter residents! The Computer Club has begun a new season of free computer classes for the owners, renters, and guests of Tara Woods. These are held at 10:30 AM every Thursday in the Card Room at the Clubhouse. They are open to everyone, and there is no membership fee.
The first and third Thursday of each month are devoted to Computer Basics. This is a complete course on how to use your computer. The second and fourth Thursday are reserved for General subjects and cover a single specific topic of interest. If there is a fifth Thursday in a month, it is an open question and answer session where you can ask me almost anything you want.
It’s never too late to join our group, even if you’re a total novice. This is a great time to learn the Basics; we start at the very beginning and assume that you know nothing about computers. The General topics cover all sorts of subjects, programs, and hardware, such as Windows, working with photos, multi-media, tablets, cell phones and e-book readers. We spend as much time as we need to on each topic, and the next topic to be covered is always posted on the bulletin board in the Clubhouse. Feel free to attend only those classes that appeal to you.
Bring something to take notes with, and your laptop computer if you want to follow along on it. I will answer any question you care to ask me. I also give private lessons and set up or repair computers in your home. I’ve
been designing, programming, repairing, teaching, and working with computers since 1968, and can help you with all of your computer needs. Please call me with any questions or comments at 652-0488. I’m looking forward to seeing you.
