WHAT’S INSIDE
FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER
DOCK & DINE
SUPPER CLUB
FEATURED REAL ESTATE
Dear Member:
The past several months at the Club have been filled with exciting events and activities and as we enter the beautiful spring season at Isleworth, one of our most important initiatives is to provide even more opportunities for Members to enjoy the Club with family and friends.
Our annual Men’s Member-Guest tournament is always a popular tournament and the Member feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Similarly, the Hundred Acre wine dinner saw perfect weather for outside dining and the culinary team excelled with the pairings dinner.
Looking forward, we have the popular Community Progressive Dinner on April 1st and the always fun, Dock and Dine party at Shades during Bay Hill week. In addition, you can look forward to the following diary dates:
• Friday, March 3 | Dock & Dine - Celebrate Bay Hill week with our seafood specials, boat transport and dancing with the amazing Blonde Ambition Band at Shades.
• Thursday, March 9 | Supper Club - New this year, we continue with our monthly event with great food, pianist and interactive culinary experiences.
• Wednesday, March 22 | Western Family Night - A popular family event with Bull riding, authentic BBQ stations and line dancing.
We also invite you to join us for our popular “Wine & Dine” events, which continue to sell out each month. Chef Andres and Alan Ghiciac have lined up some exceptional vineyards and sommeliers pairing the wines with lovely dinners for the coming months that you won’t want to miss.
On behalf of the entire Isleworth team, thank you for helping us deliver better service by making advanced reservations when dining at the Club. Additionally, keeping range balls off the golf course and repairing pitch marks help Sam and his team maintain our golf facilities in peak form.
As we come off of the Men’s Member-Guest tournament in February, we give a huge congratulations to our 2023 champions Holly Keller and his guest John Veneziano.
We look forward to seeing you and your families around the Club.
Kind Regards,
Wayne SheffieldNEW VISITOR GATE ACCESS PROCEDURES

COLD PLUNGE ICE BATH
We are pleased to provide our Members with a popular form of cryotherapy commonly used by athletes and fitness professionals. There are several health benefits that a brief plunge can provide and we welcome you to experience this newest amenity. We kindly ask that you rinse before using this as lotions, sunscreen, etc. can be detrimental to the filters.
BENEFITS
• Recovery/Performance - The cold temperature narrows your blood vessels and decreases blood flow to your muscles, which may reduce inflammation.
• Immune Support - Being immersed in cold water stimulates leukocytes, the white blood cells that fight off sickness. It also causes the lymphatic system to contract, forcing fluid through the lymph nodes.
• Boosted Mood - Evidence has shown that a hormone inbalance can contribute to depression and a cold plunge aids in reducing depression and overall mood.
• Pain Relief - The boost in norepiniphrine you’ll get from constant ice baths has been shown to be up to 5x. This neurotransmitter can dramatically reduce inflammation and help with chronic pain.
• Stress Relief - Cold water therapy has been shown to be an effective supplemental treatment for stress relief by decreasing the stress hormone cortisol.
• Better Sleep - When you use cold water therapy, your body triggers the autonomic nervous system. This system is a network of vessels and nerves, split into two parts that control your response to stress. When you begin to control your stress, you’ll likely find that you begin to get better sleep.
TWO SAUNA OPTIONS

This dry heat therapy uses infrared light instead of water or humidity, which allows you to get warmer faster. Below are some tips on how to operate the panels with a recommended temperature of 176°F.
1. The panel should remain on Mode B which is instant start. This will allow the sauna to begin as soon as you activate the switch.
2. Turn the timer to the desired amount of time you wish to use the sauna. Recommended time is 20-30 minutes.

A HIDDEN GEM
Using a Ball Machine in a Private Lesson
How does the ball machine help tennis pros become better teachers?
The ball machine encourages close interaction between coaches and students which will provide more rapport between the pro and the student. The ball machine allows the pro to move freely and make immediate corrections as well as be in the players ear constantly. In a normal tennis lesson, the pro can be as much as 78 feet away when feeding tennis balls and yelling out instructions. Even though the pro is able to see many of the issues the player may need to work on, it is not going to be as effective as if the pro is standing several feet away from the player and analyzing every little nuance.
Another way the ball machine helps during a lesson is by developing rhythm because the ball machine is continuously feeding balls. The player is able to do more hitting and thus will develop a rhythm to their game.
Most players have a very low shot tolerance, meaning that they end the rally within 3-5 shots. The ball machine allows the player to dramatically, improve their shot tolerance by getting them used to hitting a large amount of shots repeatedly.
The ball machine can be a tennis pro’s best tool for accelerating the learning of their students. This can also include the use of video analysis, as well as other teaching t ools.
Come out and try a lesson with the ball machine and see how quickly your tennis game improves.

MAKE YOUR WORKOUTS A HIIT
The popularity of high intensity interval training is on the rise. This type of training involves repeated bouts of high intensity effort followed by varied recovery times. The intense work periods may range from 5 seconds to 8 minutes long, and are performed at 80% to 95% of a person’s estimated maximal heart rate, the maximum number of times your heart will beat in a minute without overexerting yourself. The recovery periods may last equally as long as the work periods and are usually performed at 40% to 50% of a person’s estimated maximal heart rate. The workout continues with the alternating work and relief periods totaling 20 to 60 minutes. As a good subjective indicator, the work interval should feel like you are exercising “hard” to “very hard”. Using the talk test as your guide, it would be like carrying on a conversation, with difficulty.
The intensity of the recovery would be a physical activity that felt very comfortable, in order to help you recover and prepare for your next work interval. HIIT workouts provide similar fitness benefits as continuous endurance workouts, but in shorter periods of time. This is because HIIT workouts tend to burn more calories than traditional workouts, especially after the workout. The post-exercise period is called “EPOC”, which stands for excess postexercise oxygen consumption. This is generally about a 2-hour period after an exercise bout where the body is restoring itself to pre-exercise levels, and thus using more energy. Because of the vigorous contractile nature of HIIT workouts, the EPOC generally tends to be modestly greater, adding about 6 to 15% more calories to the overall workout energy expenditure.
For more information on how to join one of our HIIT classes please contact Lynn Wright at 407.909.2056.
