PLAYING PROCEDURES Exhibitions, tournaments, inter-club matches, inter-club practices and special Club events have priority use of the courts. Adult Members have top priority on any weekday prior to 12 P.M. and after 6 P.M. Juniors may play upon availability of courts. On Saturdays and Sundays, Juniors cannot reserve a court until 11 A.M. or upon walk-on availability. Full-time working adults (those who cannot participate in mid-week activities due to a working schedule) have first priority from 8 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. on weekends and holidays. Non-working adults have priority on weekdays from 8 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. A court shall be available at all times for tennis instruction by the Tennis Professional.
CONTROL OF PLAY The use of and play on the Club tennis courts, equipment and facilities shall at all times be subject to the control of the Director of Tennis and by his or her assistants. The Director of Tennis shall determine the suitability of the tennis courts for play. Courts will be closed when necessary for maintenance operations or when dictated by safety considerations or by reason of adverse weather conditions as determined by the Director of Tennis at his or her discretion. Daily maintenance is done for 1.5 hours on the Har-Tru courts. Children should not play around and between tennis courts. If they are in the tennis area but not participating in a tennis game/lesson, they must be supervised by an adult.
DOWN NETS When nets are down or signs are posted, the court involved shall be considered closed for play. Players are not to tighten or raise downed nets or otherwise commence play on such courts without first receiving permission from the Tennis Professional Shop.
6
COMPLETION OF PLAY Upon the completion of play, all equipment and personal belongings are to be removed from the court enclosure involved. The court enclosure is to be policed for trash and debris; the same shall be placed in appropriate receptacles located nearest the court involved. All players must complete play five minutes before their reserved court time expires and must vacate the court when their time has expired as not to delay or encroach upon players to follow. If players desire to continue to play beyond their reserved court time, they must report to the Tennis Professional Shop to determine if a court is available for such extended play.
FOOD & BEVERAGES In order to assure and maintain the best possible playing surfaces, food and beverages shall not be permitted on the Club tennis courts. Smoking is also prohibited on the tennis courts.
TOURNAMENT RULES All tennis tournaments shall be governed by the United States Tennis Association Rules. Club events, which include tournaments and inter-club matches, shall have preference over all other play. All courts may be needed for larger events but every effort will be made to inform members of the Club about the unavailability of courts in advance. THE 7-POINT TIEBREAK The tiebreak (TB) is a scoring device used to prevent marathon sets and matches. Historically it was devised for the influx of tennis on TV. Normally, the tiebreak goes into effect when the set score reaches 6-all in each set. However, at the opinion of the Tournament Director (TD) or Committee, when and where to use the TB may be modified such as at Wimbledon. Check with your Tournament Director for the “ground rules.”
7
TOURNAMENT RULES (continued) SINGLES A player who first wins seven points shall win the tiebreak “game” and the set, provided he or she leads by a margin of two points. If the score reaches six points all, the game shall be extended or continued until this margin has been achieved. Numerical scoring shall be used throughout the tiebreak. Who serves first in the tiebreak? The player who served first in the beginning of the set will always serve first in the tiebreak. He/she will serve first in the tiebreak from the right court and will be allowed to serve only one point, since it is considered an advantage to serve. After the first point is over, then each opponent will serve two points each until one opponent wins the tiebreak “game.” To determine where to serve from, remember to add up each player’s score(s) and if the total is even, then the point will be served from the right, and if it is odd, then the serve will be delivered from the left court. When do we change ends at the court? After every total of 6 points has been played. Examples: At 4-2, 3-3 or even 9-9 all. The player serving will have to serve from one end then the other end; no rest allowed. After the set is over, who serves first in the next set? The player who did not start the previous set and therefore, did not start the tiebreak. Do we change sides after the set? Yes! It is considered just like one game. (Example: 6-7, 7-6, 7-6) DOUBLES In doubles, the same procedure for singles shall apply. The player whose turn it is to serve shall be the server for the first point of the tiebreak. Thereafter, each player shall serve in rotation of two points each, in the same order as previously in that set, until the winners of the tiebreak "game" have been decided. However, it may mean that the doubles partners may end up serving from different sides of the net (sun and wind). Again, at the end of the tiebreak set, the team that did not serve first in the set and the tiebreak will serve first in the next set.

PICKLEBALL Considered the fastest growing sport in the country, pickleball is a paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players. To reserve the court, please contact the Tennis Professional Shop at 407.909.2050. Loaner paddles are available at the Tennis Professional Shop along with used balls. New paddles and balls are available to purchase.
POP TENNIS POP Tennis is the new POPular type of tennis with a twist on paddle tennis, dating back to 1898, and is being played across the USA and around the world. POP Tennis is played on shorter tennis courts with shorter and solid racquets, lower compression tennis balls and the same scoring and rules as tennis - except for one underhand serve. Loaner paddles are available at the Tennis Professional Shop
RESERVING THE PADEL COURT The Indoor Padel Court is available for play by Isleworth Members. To reserve the court, please use Court Reserve or contact the Tennis Professional Shop at 407.909.2050. If a court is reserved for play after Pro Shop hours, Isleworth Security will open the facility and allow access. If any Members other than the primary Member (children of Members under 21) wish to reserve the Padel Court, they may. The Tennis Staff shall open the door, log players and also ask that the players report to the Pro Shop when play is done. Members under the age of 21 may not use the padel court after normal Pro Shop hours. Rental racquets are available at the Tennis Professional Shop. A new can of balls will be supplied for the when the racquet is checked out.

TENNIS COURT ETIQUETTE Customary tennis court etiquette shall be observed at all times. Players and spectators must conduct themselves in a courteous and considerate manner so as not to disturb players and spectators on adjoining or neighboring courts. Players and spectators should not walk across or behind a court while a point is being played. Only playing participants should be on the courts at any time. • • • • • • •

Do not play "first in" when starting to serve. Give opponent the benefit of the doubt on all calls. Avoid getting angry either at yourself or opponent. Treat your opponent with courtesy. Accept defeat graciously. Avoid arguments of any kind. In between points, send the server the ball directly; do not make him/her chase it. When the ball lands on your court from an adjoining court, stop play immediately and call “let.” Return the ball promptly and pleasantly. Never enter someone else's court while play is in progress. Do not walk in front of players who are practicing on the backboard. Keep the set moving; do not stop at net to "chat." Always be considerate of those waiting. Be certain the receiver is ready before serving. Do not return a serve that is out; keep the ball on your side of the court. Do not protest or question an opponent's call either by speech or manner. Relinquish the court when due. Observe all court rules and encourage others to do the same. Make all calls of "let" or "out" instantly. Do not enlist the aid of spectators. You may move your body at all times, but do not wave racket or arms or otherwise attempt to distract your opponent. If no agreement can be reached in a dispute, toss the racket or a coin. Try to even up the ability of your doubles teams when not in tournaments. Provide your fair share of new balls.
10
TENNIS COURT ETIQUETTE (continued) • When a game is completed, please leave the balls ready at the baseline for the next person to serve. • When entering your court and play is in progress on an adjacent court, please keep your voice to a minimum. • Use common courtesy. • When shopping in the Tennis Professional Shop, please do not try on clothing after you have played. • Players are asked to refrain from changing their shirts on the court. Please try to use the locker room.
ANIMAL POLICY Animals must be on a leash at all times. Animals are not permitted inside the tennis courts.
DRESS CODE All players must be appropriately attired in bona fide tennis clothes. All players must wear smooth soled tennis shoes. Street shoes, basketball sneakers, jogging, running shoes or similar shoes, other than approved tennis shoes, shall not be worn on the tennis courts by players or by non-players in the company of players. Swimming attire, t-shirts not pertaining to tennis and Bermuda-style shorts are not considered appropriate attire for tennis and are not permitted. T-shirts pertaining to tennis are acceptable.
EQUIPMENT Each player must play with a regulation tennis racket. Handball, paddleball, badminton or similar type paddles or racquets are not permitted. Regulation tennis balls must be used at all times. At no time are skateboards, bicycles, rollerblades, scooters or any other piece of equipment allowed on the courts or surrounding walkways and parking lots.
