We Turn Dreams Into Reality
Our Mission Our mission is to encourage each student to become a well-rounded, educated, and productive citizen empowered to make meaningful contributions to society.
Science Academy of Chicago Founded in 2000, Science Academy of Chicago (S.A.C.) is a non-profit, nondenominational, independent day school for students’ preschool (three years of age) through eighth grade. The Science Academy is fully accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education. The Science Academy partners with our families in preparing our students for their future. Student centered learning is provided to each and every student throughout their time spent here. Our specially designed curriculum, combined with an outstanding faculty, provides each student with a truly unique learning environment. Our partnership begins on their first day of school and will last a life time. The Science Academy of Chicago draws students from communities in over 40 different zip codes. Science Academy of Chicago embraces the diversity of our families, cultures, and ideas.
Early Elementary The Science Academy provides its youngest students with an outstanding educational opportunity. Our extremely dedicated staff provides an exceptional foundation for each student. The environment nurtures their social and emotional needs while paving the road to academic success. Our preschool-kindergarten senior classes are full time, five days a week from 8:10am-3:00pm. Each child at the Science Academy receives instruction in language arts, math, science, social studies, art, music, physical education, computers and Spanish. Our preschool students are curious and enthusiastic. They are busy identifying their alphabet as well as the sounds, number recognition, math, shapes, and colors. The students are learning sharing, caring, responsibility and other important character traits to create a wellrounded individual. These are just a few things our three year olds are accomplishing so that they are ready to begin their kindergarten curricula in our juniors’ class.
We have created an environment where students are encouraged to dream and use their imagination.
Our kindergarten juniors are using a kindergarten curriculum and are ready for the challenges it holds. The staff works extremely hard to create a solid foundation for each childs’ academic success. The Science Academy staff broadens each student’s knowledge by differentiating, enriching, accelerating, problem solving, and creative thinking. The Science Academy kindergarten seniors are traditional kindergarten students confidently working on first grade curricula. Schedules are packed with fun filled activities which challenge them each day with hands on activities in mathematics, reading, writing, science, social studies, computers, and art. Science Academy of Chicago students also receive music, art, Spanish, computers, and physical education taught by specialists in those fields. The first and second grade program balances a rigorous yet accelerated academic curriculum with a loving and compassionate staff. Everyone at the Science Academy is dedicated to helping the students maintain their love of learning and self-confidence.
“The teachers and staff are dedicated to each and every child. The setting is small, personable, and diversified. We highly recommend this school.”

Elementary Third-Fifth Science Academy third through fifth grade classes are in a supportive and nurturing environment. The Science Academy students are taught by a specialist for all subject matters from their third grade year until graduation. Each student has their core subjects each every day for forty minutes and specials changing on a daily basis. Core subjects are language arts, math, science, and social studies. Specials are music, drama, character education, physical education, art, and Spanish or Turkish. The staff encourages the students to explore and build selfconfidence. These years are crucial for learning and development; their foundation must be solid. We work closely with each student ensuring that he/she is reaching the set goals.
Middle School Sixth-Eighth The Science Academy middle school program is sophisticated and stimulating, it addresses the need of preparing the students for high school by providing intellectually challenging material and the social/ emotional support they need.

Classes are small and instruction continues to be a mix of individual, small group, and whole group work. Each student has a core class each day for forty minutes and specials changing on a daily basis. (Language arts, math, science, social studies, music, drama, character education, physical education, art and Spanish or Turkish) Our eighth grade students are working on high school curriculum in all core classes. Students can feel free to be themselves in a classroom filled with talented peers. Homerooms participate in classes like art, music, foreign languages, and gym together, but students are grouped according to educational needs in language arts, math and science. The middle grades offer a challenging academic program in a nurturing, supportive setting. The core curriculum teaches students how to study, explore, research, and write. Admission Process The application for admission is available on our website and may be submitted electronically or you may call to request a hard copy. There is an application fee of $100 that must be submitted with the application. The Science Academy requires all incoming students in grades 3-8, to provide previous school records and standardized test scores. Additionally, incoming students are required to shadow and spend an entire day with us. Each core class teacher will evaluate the student and the staff will discuss his/her day with the principal. This process is also crucial for the student, as this transition must be smooth for them. They must feel comfortable with their learning environment in order to excel academically and socially. All kindergarten juniors (4 year old)-8th grade students will be given a enrollment test. The test is of basic skills and knowledge they should have according to their age level. Once the shadow day, test, and evaluation is complete, someone from the admissions office will personally contact you. The next step is that all documents must be completed and returned to the admissions office along with the deposit.
