Welcome to our Family
Dear Families: The ISR Welcome Committee is pleased to greet you to our community. This committee is made up of parents that, just like you, once joined a new school, either for the first time, looking for a better option for our children, or for a change of residence. Our goal is to provide altruistic and voluntary support to new families during their first weeks at school with matters related to the school or the city. We know that this moment can be challenging for you and your children, so we want to offer our help in solving your doubts. The Welcome Committee can assist you with information or questions that you may have, in matters such as the arrival and departure processes, use of school apps, enrollment to extracurricular classes, or other topics such as finding babysitters, home technicians, or weekend plans. Once again, we welcome you to San Roberto hoping that your adjustment is as simple and comfortable as possible. Please feel free to contact us when necessary. Welcome Committee San Agustín

In Preschool, they may wear costumes, take toys or books to school and on Friday, his/her parents go to school and share a time with the super kid and the class.
Special days § Family Reading Night: Held on the last Tuesday of every month at the ISR Library. It is an invitation to share a book story with your family and other people from the ISR community who attend the event. Children will have special deals for borrowing books at the library. § TLC (Teacher Led Conferences) & SLC (Student Led Conference): There are 2 days during the school year in which school is suspended so that parents attend a meeting with their child and their child´s teacher. The schedule is agreed with the teacher during the “Back to School Night session”. § Back to School Nights. The idea is to promote students bonding and sport spirit. Different colors are assigned to each group and students must wear that color t-shirt. Preschool parents are invited to join the event. They can also wear the same color as their children and go to cheer for them.
Special days § Green Day: A day dedicated to promote the consciousness of ecology. On “GreenDay”, students may wear green t-shirts or sweatshirts, blue denim jeans or bermudas (not shorts), and any color socks and tennis shoes. Students from different countries may wear a representative costume or a t-shirt that represents their country. § Religions Fair (Valle Alto Campus): Fair organized by 7th grade students based on their Social Studies Curriculum where they show exhibits related with the different religions around the world. School Events § ISR MUN & MUNVA (Model United Nations): San Roberto hosts two major Model United Nations (MUN) simulations: UNVA (October in Campus Valle Alto) and ISRMUN (November in Campus San Agustin). Model United Nations is an international entity and our school supports a student version of this forum. Students assume the role of UN representatives and learn how an international community takes action on global issues such as human rights, the environment, peace and security, economic development and globalization. Middle school students are invited to practice and develop these skills during the school year both in their Leadership Skills and Global Issues classes (for 7-9th grades only) and optionally at local simulations hosted by other schools. § Book Fair: Different book suppliers display books in Spanish and English for all reading levels. § Recycled Book Sale (Valle Alto Campus): Takes place every Spirit Day; mothers who make up the Ecology Committee are in charge of buying and selling books. There are different enrollment dates based on the student´s age. § Expo Mexico: Every year, ISR community celebrates the school’s anniversary with the traditional Expo México. Proud of the Mexican traditions, students, staff and parents participate in several activities that are specially planned for this day. Stands for the different Mexican states are prepared by students and they share relevant information. Students and teachers wear traditional costumes, and there are demonstrations of Mexican traditional dances, music, food and a lot of great things. The whole family is invited.
School Events § Math Counts: Students in Middle School are invited to participate in Math Counts Club based on their grades in Math as well as standardised test scores (MAP). This club takes place during the regular school day. Students who meet requirements and their families will be sent information from the math teacher at beginning of school year. Each year our campuses take turns hosting our internal Math Counts event which takes place usually end of November/beginning of December. Students are also eligible to participate in the regional Math Counts competition which takes place at another local school and eligible students receive invitations to participate once the event is announced and dates are published. § Tutoring: Students needing extra support in any content area are invited to attend both optionally and sometimes by special invitation from their teacher. Tutoring time (2:303pm on regular school days, 1-130 pm on Wednesdays) according to teacher´s schedule. These schedules are communicated to families through email as well as during Back to School Night at the beginning of the school year.
School Events § Interventions: Students who have demonstrated a significant need based on scores that consistently do not meet norms in our standardized testing for Reading, Math or Spanish, corroborated with low scores in their content area classes, are considered eligible for intervention.
