Animal Totems in Northwest Art Adults, teens Offered in relation to the the Tacoma Art Museum exhibit, “The Secret Language of Animals”, Susan Olds presents a slide lecture focusing on the theme of animal imagery in the art of the Northwest. She includes animal symbolism of Northwest Native cultures as well as the use of animal imagery in contemporary Northwest art. Crows, whales, eagles, and salmon are a common theme in our region. The presentation explores our spiritual connection to animals and the powerful symbolism of animal totems in Northwest art. Opera Preview: Amelia Adults, teens Amelia, Seattle Opera’s first world premiere opera in more than three decades, is a result of a collaboration between Daron Aric Hagen (music) and Gardner McFall (libretto) and is based on an original story by Seattle favorite Stephen Wadsworth.
