FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

In Bull Pride Fellow Alumni, Within this annual report, you will find facts and figures that chart the progress of your USF Alumni Association in its mission to foster mutually beneficial, lifelong relationships between the University and its current and future alumni. Each page contains useful information about our organization and its goals, but what I find to be most valuable are the personal stories behind the statistics. I’m thinking of the retired couple who returned to campus for Homecoming for the first time since 1968, when USF had only five buildings. I’m thinking of more than 1,300 alumni who received free job search assistance from our Alumni CareerQuest partnership. I’m thinking of so many deserving students who were able to continue their education and develop leadership skills thanks to programs and scholarships generously funded by Alumni Association members. Most of all, I’m thinking of the steadily growing number of alumni from all walks of life who have pledged their commitment to USF by becoming Life Members of the USF Alumni Association. Their support guarantees there will be an Alumni Association for the generations of Bulls to come. For us, like so many others, this year has not been without its challenges. Nevertheless, your USF Alumni Association perseveres. Just a few of the highlights in this report include: •

Doubling the number of members in the Student Alumni Association.

Increasing by 75 percent the number of alumni who renewed their memberships automatically online, a green initiative that is both cost-effective and environmentally friendly.

Mobilizing the 250,000+ “Alumni Army” to advocate on behalf of USF in the halls of government.

Maintaining 20 percent growth in the sales of Bulls license plates over the past three years, during a time when sales of other specialty plates have faltered.

OUR MOTTO Connect Alumni, Support Students, Strengthen USF

OUR MISSION The mission of the USF Alumni Association is to foster a mutually beneficial, lifelong relationship between the University and its alumni; to inspire loyalty and pride among

It has been my privilege to lead an organization that so admirably serves our alma mater. This year, after six years as Executive Director of your USF Alumni Association, I am planning to retire. A national search is underway for a new director. My hope is that you will offer the new director the same support that you have given me during my tenure. Like you, I will always bleed green and gold.

Go Bulls!

Report of Independent Certified Public Accountants

University of South Florida Alumni Association, Inc. Statements of Financial Position

The Board of Directors University of South Florida Alumni Association, Inc. We have audited the accompanying statements of financial position of the University of South Florida Alumni Association, Inc. (the Association) as of June 30, 2011 and 2010 and the related statements of activities and changes in net assets, cash flows and functional expenses for the years then ended. These financial statements are the responsibility of the Association’s management. Our responsibility is to express an opinion on these financial statements based on our audits. We conducted our audits in accordance with auditing standards generally accepted in the United States and the standards applicable to financial audits contained in Government Auditing Standards, issued by the Comptroller General of the United States. Those standards require that we plan and perform the audit to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements are free of material misstatement. We were not engaged to perform an audit of the Association’s internal control over financial reporting. Our audit included consideration of internal control over financial reporting as a basis for designing audit procedures that are appropriate in the circumstances, but not for the purpose of expressing an opinion on the effectiveness of the Association’s internal control over financial reporting. Accordingly, we express no such opinion. An audit also includes examining, on a test basis, evidence supporting the amounts and disclosures in the financial statements, assessing the accounting principles used and significant estimates made by management and evaluating the overall financial statement presentation. We believe that our audits provide a reasonable basis for our opinion.

See accompanying notes. In our opinion, the financial statements referred to above present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of the Association as of June 30, 2011 and 2010, and the changes in its net assets and its cash flows for the years then ended in conformity with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles. In accordance with Government Auditing Standards, we have also issued our report dated October 21, 2011, on our consideration of the Association’s internal control over financial reporting and on our tests of its compliance with certain provisions of laws, regulations, contracts, and grant agreements and other matters. The purpose of that report is to describe the scope of our testing of internal control over financial reporting and compliance and the results of that testing, and not to provide an opinion on the internal control over financial reporting or on compliance. That report is an integral part of an audit performed in accordance with Government Auditing Standards and should be considered in assessing the results of our audits. October 21, 2011
