At this gorgeous property in the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort in Waikiki, the service is excellent, the food is delicious, and the kids always come first. The grounds are gorgeous, boasting a calm and safe private lagoon, two pools, shopping areas, and multiple water sports on-hand. It should come as no surprise that Hilton delivers when it comes to family fun. Classic movie characters wander the grounds, posing for photos with kids of all ages, decked out in aloha shirts for that extra island flair. Dance parties at the pool happen daily. Keiki (kids) menus are available at every restaurant, be it sit-down or quick-serve. The spa offers treatments for everyone in the family (even toddlers!), or the whole family can enjoy a treatment together in the Wahooi suite. Rooms are also incredibly family-friendly, with spacious layouts and mini-fridges in every room.

Formed within a volcanic cone, today Hanauma Bay offers a pristine marine ecosystem after the City and County of Honolulu laid out a plan in 1990 to restore the “curved bay,” after years of neglect and abuse from the millions of visitors who visit and love to snorkel Hanauma Bay. Volunteers have a booth located on the beach level to help visitors learn about conservation of the reef and the types of fish that live there. Hanauma Bay has long been one of the island of Oahu’s jewels. Native Hawaiians have been enjoying life on the bay for thousands of years. The beach and surrounding natural park get their name from two Hawaiian words: “hana” which means bay and “uma” which means curved. To the Hawaiians, Hanauma Bay has long been part of their history. In fact, there are many legends about how the curved bay got its name.
Hiking Must-See and Must-Do Waimea Valley is a must do, must hike with your family! Using the sun, moon, stars, ocean currents and birds as guides, Polynesian voyagers ventured the Pacific Ocean and arrived in Hawai‘i as early as 400 AD. The large double-hulled canoes carried many plants needed for survival along with pua‘a (pigs), ‘ilio (dogs) and moa (chickens) which were raised as a food source. Over the next several hundred years additional voyagers landed in Hawai‘i. As early as 1092 AD, Waimea was chosen on the island of O‘ahu to be awarded to the Kahuna Nui (High Priests) in perpetuity due to its lush valleys, abundant resources, free-flowing streams and geographic location.
The Diamond Head hike is strenuous, but worth every second!
Family Friendly Restaurants Duke’s of Waikiki is all-time favorite for the kiddos! Not to mention the drinks are super yummy for the grown-ups. The legend Duke Kahanamoku grew up swimming, surfing, canoeing and bodysurfing. In 1929, Duke rode a monster wave for 1 1/8 miles at Waikiki, likely the longest ride in modern times. You know that image in your mind of Waikiki Beach, the one with Diamond Head in the distance and outrigger canoes in a turquoise bay of warm water? It’s real and it’s here every day. Splash, body surf or surf, in the warm, turquoise water just below Hawaii’s icon, Diamond Head – just like Duke did.
