Who will be the hero? Let’s wait and see if we can have the fortune to start the new year again with Heimtextil. It was already a hero for the industry for over a half of a century. When it comes to today the major events as well as the small ones are either cancelled or postponed one after another. We have all missed going through the entrances of the show venues and to greet exhibitors and visitors. For almost 6 months we have not been able to attend any physical show and it seems we will have another way of three or four months to go without exhibitions. The fair organizers are striving to stand with their functional abilities and they attempt to hold virtual shows, however, nobody can claim that they can replace the physical fairs.
Who will be the hero to embrace the industry to generate a huge trade volume? As everybody knows, there is a huge squeezed and accumulated demand for trade in almost every industry. Home textile is no exception. The supply and demand have to meet soonest. I believe and everybody hopes it could be the Heimtextil, the industry’s most important global event for interior textiles, interior design and interior trends. With its new products and trends, it is believed and expected that it kicks off the upcoming season and gives important impulses to both exhibiting companies as professional visitors from all over the world.
Evteks will be the second milestone Hit by coronavirus, the major international show of Turkey was unfortunate this year. It had to be rescheduled a few times but later it was fixed to its own place in 2021. I believe it will double its function this time and contribute to the industry to restore fast.

What have we done? Our work fit digitalization more than the virtualization of trade shows. We have printed a little more and spread the digital copies ten times more. I would like to express my deepest respect and thanks for the advertising companies who were convenient with us, trusted us and continued their cooperation with us. What happened at the end? They are all happy and we are happier twice more because we did our job properly and we witness the smiling faces of our clients which make us happier than any profit. Thank you all!

CNR Holding will initiate “Export Gateway to Africa” Developed countries such as the USA, the UK, France, Italy, and Spain have failed to struggle with Coronavirus and China has shown substantial instability in this issue, which has positioned Turkey in a different location in Africa. Turkey has helped the entire African continent by providing technical equipment and personal protection materials while struggling with Coronavirus, which has led these countries to turn their heads to Turkey suddenly. Particularly after the Coronavirus pandemic, other western countries still have high risks and their treatment opportunities are far behind Turkey, which will make Turkey the most important supply center in the “New Normal” era. A part of Africa’s urgent needs in all the industries, mainly
in health, food, and natural diet, will be provided from Turkey and Turkish manufacturers in the new post-pandemic atmosphere. The leading company of the Turkish trade fair industry, CNR Holding will initiate Export Gateway to Africa in December 2020 in order to increase the share the Turkish economy will get from the African market that will reach a 6-trillion-dollar size in 2050. Endlessbay launches high-tech cool pillow case and fitted sheet IRVINE, Calif. /PRNewswire/ -- endlessbay launches hightech cooling pillowcase and fitted sheet which apply UHMWPE (ultra-high molecular polyethylene) to home textile products. There is a scientific consensus around the world that the quality of sleep will be higher when the skin temperature drops slightly. Experts say that when people go to sleep, they set a temperature to help fall asleep faster. The American Sleep Association (ASA) research also shows that insomnia patients then improve their sleep quality by keeping their prefrontal cortex cool. To achieve the instant cooling, materials with fast heat conduction are needed. They can quickly release the heat of the human body when in contact. endlessbay uses high-tech textiles to minimize moisture and regulate the
body temperature. The surface fabric of cooling pillowcase is made of 100% UHMWPE (ultra-high polymer polyethylene), which has great moisture and heat absorption properties. Moreover, the fabric is friendly to the human body without harmful chemical additives. The endlessbay cooling pillowcase is a three-dimensional design, which can fit the regular pillows at home. The edge cover of pillowcase feels soft and silky. Due to the woven resistance of UHMWPE, the pillowcase is easy to care for and maintain. It has small shrinkage and less deformation even if washed for many times. It is faster to dry than other fabrics as well. Cooling pillowcases and fitted sheet are available in two colors, white and gray.

Despite some concessions regarding the self-isolation regime in some cities and countries, there is still a high probability of a second wave of a pandemic in the fall season. In addition, the continuing prohibition on the entry of foreign citizens to the territory of the Russian Federation (about 60% of the exhibitors are foreigners), as well as other limitations due to the epidemiological situation in Russia and in the world, effect on quality of event preparation. “We know how much effort and resources exhibitors put into fair preparation. How did the pandemic affect your domestic and international sales? Have there been changes in your target markets and sales figures?
Of course, the pandemic period was negative. We stopped production for 2 months with our human health priority principle. Trade stopped, naturally, the turnover figures fell down. What was the biggest challenge you faced in your business life in these days when the virus changes the flow of life? Have you been able to reorganize your business in terms of production, logistics and distribution?
Due to the pandemic, of course, we reduced the working hours and the number of personnel in shifts by dividing them into groups. Our principle, our priority is “human health. We pay great attention to hygiene and social distance. Body temperature of personnel is measured every morning and evening. Disinfection is applied in our factories and stores one day a week. Fortunately, we survived the shock of the pandemic and we are doing our job with great motivation. So, we produce and export. The biggest challenge and problem we encounter during the production phase is that energy costs are very high. We are paying really high energy prices. This naturally increases the cost and affects our prices. As an industrialist, I am very uncomfortable with this situation. The energy company reflects unfair earnings on invoices; this is our biggest problem. The Ministry of Industry and Trade should resolve this situation.
What are your goals in the short, medium and long terms?
Our company has two stores in Fatih-Laleli under the name of our MELITA brand. Our factory-produced products are presented to the appreciation of our customers in these stores. Our company has been taking firm steps on its way by increasing its sales and turnover every year since its establishment. It is always our primary goal to grow and increase our exports.

The industry is relying on Heimtextil 2021: Initial impetus for the restart of business Leading representatives from the home textiles industry view the upcoming Heimtextil (12-15 January 2021) as a decisive way to boost their business activities after the restart. They have also expressed their confidence in Messe Frankfurt’s comprehensive protection and hygiene concept. Both trade and industry thus consider the prerequisites for a safe and successful Heimtextil to be met. ‘Heimtextil 2021 will be different – more concentrated and focused on actual business. And the necessary hygiene precautions will also of course change the look of our trade fair’, says Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt. ‘We consider ourselves all the more lucky that numerous exhibitors and visitors, both national and international, are placing their trust in us by announcing their participation and are
counting on Heimtextil to be the first industry highlight after the restart’. In Germany, bdia (Association of German Interior Architects), the BTE (Association of German Textile and Bedding Retailers), the DecoTeam, Heimtex (Association of the Home Textiles Industry), the MZE (the furniture association for leading, medium-sized specialist stores), August 2020

the VDB (Association of Bed Dealers) and World-Architects have all stated how incredibly important Heimtextil is. On the international side, the following major industry players have shared their thoughts about Heimtextil: CIE (Consejo Intertextil Español), El Corte Inglès, Home Textiles from Spain, IGI (The Global Wallcoverings Association), Taiwan Textile Federation, Tetsiad (Turkish Home Textile Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association) and UKFT (UK Fashion and Textile Association) – see below for detailed statements by the industry representatives.

Bdia, Association of German Interior Architects, Germany – Monika Slomski, Chair, Hesse regional association: “Even though we discovered the potential of digital meetings during lockdown, nothing beats visiting a trade fair. In order to lend our projects the personal touch and for us to create innovative and original details, the inspiration we get from trade fairs is indispensable. BTE, Association of German Textile and Bedding Retailers/VDB, Association of Bed Retailers, Germany – Axel Augustin, BTE spokesperson and VDB CEO: “After months of limited contact, many home and household textile dealers are once again looking forward to personal meetings with their suppliers. BTE is sure that Heimtextil will develop a convincing social distancing and hygiene concept that will enable a low-risk visit to the trade fair. Since the trade in home and household textiles had to cope with comparatively small losses due to corona, many business owners are hopeful for 2021 and eagerly looking forward to seeing new products at the trade fair.”
CIE, Consejo Intertextil Español, Spain – Càndid Penalba Peiró, President: “Against a background of rapidly growing global demand for home and household textiles, which is down to the desire for renewal and improved hygiene post Covid-19, Heimtextil 2021 offers us a great opportunity to meet our customers again in a safe and secure environment.”

home and household textiles, Heimtextil is a fixed and important component in the textile calendar for all members of the industry. For us members of the DecoTeam group, this trade fair is the meeting place for the industry. Business deals and personal meetings with our customers, communication on all levels, the presentation of new products, creative input – all this now has increased relevance and is of greater importance, especially in these unusual times. We are therefore particularly looking forward to this Heimtextil and are positive that everyone else feels the same.”

in 2021 and eagerly await the new developments, innovations and trends that the textile industry will come up with.”
Heimtex, Association of Home Textiles Manufacturers, Germany – Martin Auerbach, CEO: “The German home textiles industry – as is the case in many other sectors too – is going through a very challenging and stressful time. Not all our members were able to benefit from the catch-up effects in May, which makes it all the more important that the industry has a strong presence at Heimtextil at the start of the year in order to kick-start a strong new year with the international community. We therefore strongly recommend that our association members take part in the international industry meeting. Even though we will be experiencing a leading trade fair in a different way, in Frankfurt, important national and international buyers come together, and they also want to make contacts in person and experience new products. In spite of all the challenges, we see the trade fair as a decisive, indispensable support tool for restarting the industry that will also provide orientation.”
Hometextiles from Spain, Spain – Manuel Revert, President: “All Spanish exhibitors are confident and are looking forward to the upcoming Heimtextil in January 2021. After this tough pandemic and its devastating consequences for our industry, we believe that Heimtextil 2021 will give our companies a fresh start in terms of economic activity and a return to normality. The personal encounters with our customers, sales teams and suppliers will be positive. We are all very much looking forward to meeting everyone in the industry, and Heimtextil is the ideal platform for this.”
IGI, The Global Wallcoverings Association, Belgien – Pascal Siellet, Präsident: “As the world’s leading trade fair for wall covering, Heimtextil is the best possible platform for the members of IGI to come into contact with international customers and potential new buyers. Despite the challenges the wall decoration segment is currently facing - even more so than other product groups - we expect good business impulses at Heimtextil for a restart after the crisis. Even if it will be a special trade fair edition this time with a concentrated wallpaper presentation, we very much hope that all participants can contribute and benefit from the upswing at the subsequent Heimtextil.“ August 2020

Manifattura Tessile di Nole, Italy – Luca Ferrari, President: “Heimtextil 2020 was a success for di Nole and we liked seeing all textile lovers in one place. Schroeder, Head of 2HK, interior design “We at MZE, with our ‘Interior Design’ division comprising over 200 interior decorators in Germany and Austria, support all Heimtextil activities and concepts as part of the DecoTeam, particularly during the current situation. We see ourselves as a mouthpiece for our partner companies, many of whom understand the importance and necessity
of Heimtextil as our leading trade fair for the sector. The importance of personal contacts with the industry, as well as inspiration and suggestions regarding creative events, is very important, especially in the current situation, despite all the challenges it presents. In our trade sector, the signs continue to point to positive business development. All the more reason why we need a return to personal contact.”
Taiwan Textile Federation, Taiwan – Justin Huang, President: “Messe Frankfurt re-starts Heimtextil in 2021. That is wonderful news for the global textile industry as well as for the retailing business. We perused the factsheet and found the organizer did a good job to keep all exhibitors and visitors in a safe protection. The detailed reminding about distancing rules, active visitor management, hygiene measures, stand catering etc. provides us with considerate services. It is confident that the trade event will contribute Messe Frankfurt as a new mile stone to host trade fairs in the future. On behalf of Taiwan Textile Federation, I will organize a group of exhibitors to participate in the fair, as long as the quarantine regulations would allow us to trip to Frankfurt and back to Taipei.“

Turkey starts new normal with export record
Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM) announced the export figures for June. Turkey’s export increased by 15.8 percent in June 2020 to 13 billion 469 million dollars. Compared to May, 35.2 percent achieved a record rate of increase in exports. In June, 1.443 companies joined the export family, while 24 of the 27 sectors increased in exports. Hazelnut and Products, Grain, Jewelry, Ship and Yacht, Ornamental Plants sectors increased their exports by more than 50 percent monthly, while the top 5 sectors that exported the most were Automotive, Chemical Substances, Apparel, Steel and Electrical-Electronics. Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM) announced temporary foreign trade data for June. According to the General Trade System (GTS), exports increased by 15.8 percent year-onyear to $13 billion 469 million dollars in June. The rate increase compared to May broke a record with 35.2 percent. Exports in the last 12 months also fell by 15.1 percent to 75 billion 55 million dollars. Assessing the effects of the outbreak on the world economy, TIM Chairman İsmail Gülle said, “International organizations continue to revise their expectations about the effects of the outbreak on the global economy in a negative way. The IMF revised its forecast for a global economic contraction of 3 percent to 4.9 percent for 2020 and Fitch from 3.9 percent to 4.6 percent, while the World Bank predicts the economy will shrink by 5.2 percent this year. Many countries’ economies, which are among our target markets, are also expected to face significant downsizing by 2020. The IMF estimates that Mexico will shrink by 10.5 percent this year, the United Kingdom by 10.2 percent, South Africa by 8 percent and Russia by 6.6 percent. Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) data indicates that the contraction in global economic activity has decelerated. In June, manufacturing and services PMI data in China rose above the threshold level described as 50; The PMI index in the Euro zone rose more than 40 percent to 46.9, according to May. Our biggest hope is that the recovery in the global economy and especially in our country’s economy will happen rapidly.”
“Exporters succeeded what is said cannot be accomplished” Gülle stated that the outbreak negatively affected Turkey’s production and exports in March-April-May as it has been the case all over the world, and said: “The export family continued to be the dynamo of Turkey, which produces by saying ‘Turkey First, Exports First’ during the epidemic

period. I congratulate all exporters wholeheartedly for their outstanding struggle during this extraordinary period. In our country, we left behind the first month of normalization process starting in June. Turkey has begun its course beyond normal in exports by registering that it is the ‘reliable port’ of global trade. Just as our country has managed to increase its export many times despite negative developments in world trade and financial attacks on Turkey, it has succeeded again today. We are aware of the extraordinary opportunities of extraordinary August 2020

circumstances. We trust our exporters. Because they have done what is called cannot be done, and they succeeded what is said cannot be accomplished. When it comes to Turkey, we did it yesterday, we do it today and we will do it also tomorrow.”
“June’s exports reflected a great effort” For companies to overcome the shock of demand caused by the outbreak with minimal damage, Gülle said that they attach great importance to increasing the volume of credit for exporters and facilitating exporters’ access to financing, “We have seen the positive contribution of the June export data of public banks and private banks, especially Eximbank, to exporters. In this context, we have signed a protocol with The Is Bank of Turkey, the first national bank of the Republic of Turkey, which we believe will further strengthen the hands of our exporters in global trade. This cooperation is of great importance in terms of offering low-interest loans to exporters, applying positive discrimination against female exporters, and covering a volume of as high as $500 million. I would like to point out that the 53 requests that emerged during the epidemic process and which we have expressed as TIM have been resolved at jet speed with the dedication of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance and the Ministry of Commerce. Our June export figures reflect this great effort. On behalf of the entire export family, for the hard work they have put forward during such a difficult period, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to our esteemed minis-
ters again in the presence of our President. I hope that the positive reflections of the serial steps taken during this period will see more both the new normality and the process after that.”
“Next Generation Trade Diplomacy activities will continue non-stop” Stating that the struggle has just begun for exporters, Gülle said that as TIM, they continue to evaluate all opportunities and risks for exporters one by one. Gülle gave the following information about the work carried out in June within the framework of TIM’s action plan for the future of Turkey and exports: “In June, we organized a new one of the Virtual Trade Delegations that we carried out under the coordination of our Ministry of Commerce within the framework of our next Generation Trade Diplomacy activities. The third of our Virtual Trade Delegations was on 15th-25th of June; We have carried out it in India to cover agriculture, food and non-food rapid consumption products, agricultural machinery, cold storage, and air conditioning sectors. At the point of ensuring intensive trade cooperation, the Virtual Trade Delegations, which we have identified as the second phase of the joint fight against the global virus pandemic, are of great importance. Our Virtual Trade Delegations will not be limited to Uzbekistan, Kenya, and India. As TIM, with 95 thousand members of the export family, we will continue our next generation trade diplomacy activities in target markets.
