Goodyear welted construction was developed in late 19th century America but has been synonymous with the English shoe-making tradition. The welt is a band of leather connecting the upper to the sole. This forms a durable construction and creates space for a cork resin filling to cushion and ventilate. We close our sole’s stitched channel for a refined finish.
At Italian Shoe Factory we only use exceptional leather produced in Italy. Our calfskin has been specially developed with one of the finest Italian tanneries to preserve the fullness of its grain, when hand-polished to a deep and distinctive patina. The natural burnished calfskin has long been a prefered choice here at Italian Shoe Factory.
Our superior leather selection is treated with nine diffent fats to create a beutifully rounded and supple leather which gains charecter as it ages.
