FOLLOW THE PATH The Caribbean is one of the finest and most popular charter destinations in the world. The Caribbean Sea is bounded by the northern coast of South America, the east coast of Central America, the large islands of Cuba, Haiti, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, and a beautiful ring of islands to the east known as the Windward and Leeward islands.
PHOCEA IN A CLASS OF HER OWN We at Nigel Burgess are veryu proud of our established relationship with the owner of this magnificent yacht and have great pleasure in being able to exclusively feature Phocea in our 2003 Charter Brochure. By way of intoduction, here is some backkground history on what has made Phocea the very special yacht she is today.
DOWN TO THE LAST DATAIL The West Indies have traditionally been regarded as a culinary backwater but that is changing. Jill Hartley tells you where to find the best local food, from the traditional Fish Fry to the new wave of gourmet restaurants Accommodations at The Caves consists of 12 individually styled cliff top cottages and suites. Our favorites are those with the viewpoints from highest above the water, like the one-bedroom Butterfly and the two-bedroom Moonshadow and its glorious blue rooftop balcony
INTRODUCTION
Phocea story would happily fill pages of a novel. Her extraordinary looks are mirrored by her history which commerced with her huge hull being launched at the Toulon Naval Dockyard in 1976.

CONTENT The yacht wad originally commissioned as Club Mediterranee by fomous racing sailor Alain Colas to compete in the observer Single handed Trans-Atlantic Race, which exlpains her lines and speed. Colas yacht led the eventual winner until stopped by halyard problems. After the race, she was fitted with basic interior and chartered in French Polynesia,where she stayed for four years. In 1982 she was significantly refitted as a superyacht and remane by Phocea after the Pohceans, cthe original inhabitants of Marsielles. She was lengthened, her sail area increased to 750 m ande private guest accommodation added.
Yet she languished unused until acquired by her current Owner who set about an even more thorough rebuild at Lurssen, Bremen, to make her the manificent yacht she is today, now with a remarkable 1,650m sail area. Phocea’s motto, Animus Et Veritas, means sapirit and truth. These are appropriate qualities forv the unique life of this exceptional vessel and a further indication, if one were needed, thet to charter Phocea is to embraced a legend.
