W E LC O M E TO THE ITC SPORTS CARIBBEAN CRICKET TOUR
Cricket and the Caribbean go together like tea and cake, and after more than 25 years of taking our guests to the islands to enjoy the fine sport, we’re well versed in creating exceptional holidays combining both. Having been at the forefront of cricket supporters’ tours for all this time we’ve got the knowledge to make them truly exceptional. All the finest details are taken care of, from the transfers to the welcome drinks, but, as I’ve experienced myself, it’s the atmosphere that makes these holidays extra special. This unique environment is created through ensuring we have the best hosts along for the ride – many of whom are former international players – who keep the banter flowing and the mood light. It’s their presence that sets ITC Sports Travel’s tours apart from other sporting holidays and when combined with luxury accommodation, match hospitality, tour merchandise, excursions and more, you have the makings of a superb experience. Over the years we’ve gained a wealth of contacts and friends on the islands, as well as two destination offices, which gives us a head start for offering the finest accommodation when the cricket dates are announced. I’m certain you’ll find something to inspire from the properties we’ve handpicked to suit your personal tastes and budget. For a truly indulgent experience, I can personally recommend the SeaDream cruise extension on Pages 14-15. This luxurious vessel – which recently featured on ITC’s BBC documentary ‘The Millionaires’ Holiday Club’ – is perfect for exploring the wider Caribbean after the cricket has finished. I’m confident you’ll have a trip to remember, Jamie Smith, Head of Sports

Antigua With its safe harbours, beautiful reefs, protected bays and glorious palm-fringed beaches, the island of Antigua is renowned for its contented culture. Much of the laid-back vibe is centred on the blue waters which surround its shores and surely its most well-known attraction is its offering for keen sailors. But you can enjoy life on the water inland too, with a kayaking trip among Antigua’s mangroves and tropical ecosystem. Nestled within this small island is a wealth of cultural attractions; from Nelson’s Dockyard National Park – the only Georgian-era dockyard still in use in the world – to the island’s capital of St John’s, where a visit to the Arts and Crafts Market is well worthwhile a look. Connect with the island’s vibrant marine life by heading over to Sting Ray City, where you can handle tame sting rays surrounded by unspoilt coral reef and spectacular scenery. Or for a unique adventure, try zip-lining through the lush Antiguan rainforest with a canopy tour – an adrenaline-fuelled experience that is unforgettable.
Barbados Barbados is a destination of international renown, where the glitterati go to see and be seen, yet scratch the surface and it remains true to itself with elements of its rich and varied culture never far from view. This is the island where the refined luxury of internationally acclaimed cuisine and exceptional hotels mingles effortlessly with fish festivals and rum shacks to create a unique atmosphere that calls its visitors back time and again. And then of course there’s the cricket. This is the nation that has been at the heart of some of the greatest West Indies teams – think Greenidge and Haynes, the ‘Three W’s’ and Sir Garfield Sobers – and whose famed Kensington Oval ground has seen drama aplenty and much ‘calypso cricket’ down the years. It has now been redeveloped to provide modern facilities, but still retains much of the colour and character that the island is famous for.

WEST INDIES CRICKET IN THE CARIBBEAN In Antigua and Barbados cricket goes far beyond sport; it’s a part of life, weaving a vibrant strand through the islands’ rich shared heritage. Only for cricket are individual island rivalries forgotten, uniting under one flag – that of the West Indies cricket team. With such a unique atmosphere to experience – and of course a great climate – it’s no wonder that travelling to watch England play in the Caribbean is top of many a cricket lover’s wishlist. Although the Caribbean islands come together as the West Indies in a cricketing sense, to see them as one holiday destination is to do them a disservice. Each has its own culture, national characteristics, special attractions and features; and the 2017 ODI’s will be taking in two of its very best…
1st ODI – ANTIGUA – 3 MARCH 2017 The ODI series begins on the peaceful island of Antigua, where the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium will be the backdrop for the opening games.
2nd ODI – ANTIGUA – 5 MARCH 2017 Enjoy England’s second ODI Match of the series at the SVRS.
3rd ODI – BARBADOS – 9 MARCH 2017 The final One-Day International will be in the modern facilities of the Bajan home of cricket, the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown. We’ve been travelling to the ground, which has a capacity of 11,000, for over two decades, and always receive a warm reception when we’re in town!
