10th
A dream come true It is a rare event for a new cruise line to take to the seas, and even rarer for such a line to celebrate its 10th anniversary. Yet that is the enviable position Oceania Cruises finds itself in today. Such success stems from many factors, but particularly the attention to all the little details that take an ordinary vacation and turn it into an extraordinary once-in-a-lifetime experience. “As soon as you sail just once,” one guest commented recently, “you can’t ever imagine cruising with anyone else.” The fleet of mid-size ships and more than 300 global destinations that has become Oceania Cruises was just an idea on paper when founder Frank Del Rio first envisioned what he called “a different kind of cruise line.” When Regatta embarked on her first voyage nearly 10 years ago, the vision for Oceania Cruises was not just to create an entirely new style of cruising or evolve with new ships and new destinations. The passionate vision shared by the founders was to create something so special that guests would recognize the difference and yearn to return again and again. With a dedicated team of seasoned cruise industry executives, Del Rio set out to offer a cruise vacation that was considerably more refined, elegant, upscale and affordable than what was currently available. A staff of less than 20 people opened the company’s first office in Miami in January 2003. With more than 450 employees onboard today, Oceania Cruises is truly a dream come true.

Starting a cruise line from scratch is no easy feat. And when undertaking such a venture during an economic downturn, one is bound to encounter a few naysayers. But this did not daunt the founders of Oceania Cruises. “So many people told us from the start that there was no chance we were going to make it,” co-founder Bob Binder remembers. “But we had this vision.” Frank Del Rio, chairman and founder, recalls the seeds of his inspiration. “We were at the shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, and my son, Frank Jr., said, ‘Dad, we should start a cruise line of our own.’ I looked at him and said, ‘Someday we will.’”
Building the line from the ground up, co-founders Frank Del Rio and Bob Binder and 14 tireless employees designed menus, refurbished Regatta, built a travel agent network, hired a reservation team and completed countless other tasks in less than six months to launch the creation of a new cruise line.
Then a series of events transpired that put Del Rio in a position to launch Oceania Cruises. Renaissance Cruises fell victim to the challenging economic climate, and the French banks who had financed the construction loans on their ships were looking for entrepreneurs to get the new but laid up vessels back in service. Del Rio partnered with Jason Montague, now chief financial officer of Oceania Cruises, to put together a business plan to pitch to the banks. “On my birthday in 2002, I got a visit from the investment banker and the French interests, and they told me that our business plan had been accepted,” Del Rio recalls. “That was the best birthday gift I’ve ever received.” The vision that would distinguish Oceania Cruises began with creating the finest cuisine at sea. Binder says, “What got me excited was creating a dining experience that not only surpassed any other restaurant at sea but also rivaled the very best shoreside restaurants.” To do this, they looked to renowned chef Jacques Pépin. Binder says that calling up the personal chef to three French heads of state was a bit intimidating, but Pépin invited Binder to his home to discuss the concept. “We played boules and drank some wine, and suddenly Pépin was onboard.” Their vision solidly in place, the small Miami office was opened in January 2003 with a team of 14 employees, who immediately began designing menus, renovating the ship, building a travel agent network, hiring a reservation team and completing countless other tasks for Regatta’s debut in six months. Regatta’s inaugural voyage was an overwhelming success. “When guests returned from that first voyage, they were extremely excited about their experience and felt a personal connection to a cruise line they loved and helped launch,” Binder recalls. Later Insignia and Nautica joined Regatta, and all three vessels were fully booked months prior to sailing. “It didn’t take a genius to figure out we needed more ships,” Del Rio says. For the construction of Marina and Riviera, Del Rio and Binder created the interiors with the help of renowned designers such as Dakota Jackson and Ralph Lauren. “It was like going on the ultimate shopping spree with famous designers,” recalls Binder. With so much success and innovation behind them, how will Oceania Cruises continue to push the envelope? “We’re always looking for ways to improve,” Binder says. “We want to ensure that every time a guest comes back, it’s the best cruise they’ve ever taken.” This desire to exceed expectations has led to many innovations, such as the Canyon Ranch SpaClubs® and the Bon Appétit Culinary Centers onboard Marina and Riviera. “There is always something to improve upon, but we think we’ve got a winning formula, and more importantly, our guests think we have a winning formula,” Del Rio says.

It’s also the friendliest staff I’ve ever encountered at sea,” gushed one happy guest. At least 80 guests aboard that inaugural sailing immediately booked future cruises. 11 voyages with Oceania Cruises
Judging by their name, one would assume Peter and Pauline Pretty have an appreciation for things of beauty, and they certainly sing the praises of the ships of Oceania Cruises. “The Marina penthouse, for me that is the best place on the entire ship,” Pauline declares. “It is so beautiful. Marina and Riviera are both so beautiful, and we can’t wait to travel on them again.” Of course, that is not to downplay the beauty of Regatta or Nautica. The Prettys reserved a penthouse on Nautica for their upcoming Grand Voyage from Cape Town to Hong Kong. Departing on 5 January 2013, this will be their longest journey yet with Oceania Cruises – 47 days exploring the continents of Africa and Asia. “We’ll have some stories to tell after this cruise!” Pauline exclaims.

When Peter was approaching retirement in 2006, he and his wife decided to celebrate with a cruise. They wanted to explore the Amazon, so they called their travel agent, who suggested a voyage with Oceania Cruises. Much to their disappointment, the Amazon cruise was already fully booked. Then a few days later, they received a call from their agent saying that there had been a cancellation. Peter retired in September, and shortly thereafter they boarded Regatta for their first Oceania Cruises experience of nearly a month exploring the wonders of the Amazon. “We fell in love with it,” says Pauline.

Peter agrees. “We liked the size of the ship, the people onboard, and the small ports we visited in the Amazon, like Manaus. We fell in love with Oceania Cruises and with the people, and in February 2013, when we finish our upcoming cruise, that will be our 11th voyage with Oceania Cruises.” Mr. and Mrs. Pretty have traveled all over the world with Oceania Cruises, and each region they visit has its own special appeal. Their last cruise through the South Pacific was marvelous, and they greatly enjoyed the beautiful beaches, the warm weather and the friendly people. However, a previous Arctic cruise was also fantastic, and they so enjoyed the splendid scenery that they’re hoping to return later next year. Of the many reasons the Prettys continually return to Oceania Cruises, the most important is the onboard staff. They have made many friends amongst the officers and crew, and they look forward to seeing them each time they return. “This is like home for us. We meet so many wonderful people and we feel at home, and they’re always there to help you,” Pauline says. “When we travel with Oceania Cruises, we’re amongst friends,” Peter says. “They make a very big effort to remember all of the guests. That’s a very nice personal touch.”
The Prettys also greatly enjoy the cuisine onboard, and several of the aforementioned friends they have made have been chefs, such as Fleet Corporate Chef Franck Garanger. Choosing their favorite restaurant proves to be a bit of a challenge, so they expand their options by choosing a favorite on each class of ship. On Marina and Riviera, Peter prefers Red Ginger, but Jacques is a close second. “My wife, she’s French,” Peter says, “so she probably prefers Jacques.” Pauline concurs, but her favorite restaurant onboard Regatta and Nautica is definitely Polo Grill. In fact, she has already made several dinner reservations for their upcoming cruise and is looking forward to enjoying many visits to each of the onboard restaurants thanks to their lengthy itinerary. Dining so well for so many days might threaten to expand their waistlines a bit, but the Prettys have a plan. “This time, because the cruise is longer, we’re going to have to go to the gym every morning,” says Pauline. With so many exciting destinations to explore along the way, Peter and Pauline might be able to skip the gym a few mornings.

T H E MENU AN D MOO D e v o l v e
Informal and carefree, Terrace Café is wonderfully inviting whether you dine indoors or alfresco. In the morning, the entire space is infused with natural sunlight, stimulating the appetite for the sumptuous breakfast selections. Come lunch, the expansive menu of international dishes changes entirely. Evenings, the cuisine takes on a local flair such as a hearty paella in Spain, eggplant parmigiana in Italy or a rich beef bourguignon in France. Onboard Marina and Riviera, the Terrace Café features grilled lobster tails, jumbo shrimp, hand-cut steaks and chops, a sushi bar and hand-tossed fresh pastas.
COME AS Y OU ARE AN D D INE ALFRESCO
Sometimes the ultimate luxury is simply the world’s best burger overlooking the sea. Chefs grill gourmet burgers, tangy barbecue and succulent seafood to order, accompanying them with side dishes like garden-fresh salads and crispy, hand-cut truffle fries dusted with grated aged parmesan. Then top it off with a decadent dessert such as a creamy homemade gelato, a made-to-order hot fudge sundae or a thick hand-dipped milkshake.
TEA TA K ES CENTER STAGE
Four o’clock in the afternoon is recognized as teatime the world over, but few teatimes are as inspired as ours, a celebratory daily event that irresistibly draws guests to Horizons. With a classical string quartet softly playing, our staff glides through the room presenting four-tiered carts filled with finger sandwiches, colorful petits fours, scones with clotted cream, exquisite desserts and of course, a tempting selection of artisanal teas. 23

More than a spa | Healthy living and spiritual awareness are at the very heart of the Canyon Ranch philosophy. Pushing the boundaries of spa services well beyond the traditional, its award-winning health resorts have been transforming lives since 1979, when the first one was created in Arizona’s spectacular Sonoran Desert. Oceania Cruises and Canyon Ranch have recreated that unique, inspiring environment onboard our ships. Through fitness, exquisite Canyon Ranch cuisine and a multitude of healing therapies, you can discover ways to unleash your untapped potential and make positive changes in your life. Of course, the star element of any Canyon Ranch experience is a spa treatment that will leave you wondering how anything could be quite so perfect. Restore and revitalize | Lose yourself in deep relaxation with a signature Canyon Stone Massage or perhaps a Thai Massage, which originated in Buddhist monasteries. Ease into the soothing waters of the private, open-air whirlpool spa. All Concierge Level and Suite guests enjoy FREE unlimited access to the beautifully appointed Canyon Ranch SpaClub private Spa Terrace, featuring private whirlpools or a thalassotherapy pool, two-person Balinese day beds and beverage service. More opportunities await you in the state-of-the-art fitness center, where you may exercise on the latest fitness equipment or join a class in indoor cycling, aerobics, Pilates or yoga. We encourage you to attend presentations on how to enhance nutritional balance and spiritual wellness.

The water’s edge of Sitka features spruce forests along the seaside town
Alaska UNSPOILED WILDERNESS A N D G L O R I OU S G L A C I E R S Imagine a land where the hand of man is scarcely to be found. Wildflowers sprout from fissures in rocks worn smooth by the wind, and time is measured by the groan of glaciers, not the hands of a clock. This is Alaska, and you are invited to experience all of its many moods. Watch whales cavort just offshore, bears amble down to a secluded cove and the moon rise over a dense, untouched forest. Equally fascinating are the rare settlements where mankind has staked a claim. From the gold rush spirit of Juneau to the native spirituality of Ketchikan and the Russian influence in Sitka, Alaska will enchant you at every turn.

Optional Travel Insurance | We strongly recommend that all guests purchase comprehensive travel insurance that includes Medical and Baggage Protection, as well as Trip Cancellation/Interruption Insurance to cover the full purchase price of the cruise, including air and/or land program costs. Your Travel Agent can provide additional information about the various insurances available. Itinerary | All itineraries, including points of embarkation and debarkation, are at the discretion of Oceania Cruises and may be modified up to and during the voyage. Oceania Cruises reserves the right to amend, cancel or make substitutions for any travel component without prior notice to the guest, including hotels, ports of call or other modes of transportation if, in its opinion, the situation requires a change or cancellation of arrangements. Oceania Cruises does not assume responsibility or liability for any loss, inconvenience, or expense incurred by guests as a result of any changes or cancellations as detailed in the Guest Ticket/Contract. When practicable, Oceania Cruises will promptly notify guests or their Travel Agent of a cruise itinerary change. Responsibility | Oceania Cruises accepts no liability or responsibility, whether occasioned by railroad, motor coach, private car, boat, aircraft or any other conveyance, for any injuries, damages, loss, accident, delay or irregularity which may be caused either by reason of defect, through the acts or defaults of any company or person or in carrying out the arrangements of the cruise or cruisetour as a result of any cause beyond the control of Oceania Cruises. Guests specifically release Oceania Cruises from any and all claims for loss or damage to baggage or property or from personal injuries or death, or from loss or delay arising out of the acts, omissions or negligence of any independent contractors, such as air carriers, hotels, shore excursion operators, restauranteurs, transportation providers, medical personnel or other providers of services or facilities. All arrangements made with independent contractors are made solely for the convenience of guests and are done at the guests’ own risk. Onboard medical personnel are independent contractors. Oceania Cruises specifically disclaims all liabilities for damages for emotional distress, mental suffering or psychological injury of any kind. Tickets, vouchers and any other travel documents are subject to all terms and conditions of the respective suppliers, some of which may limit a supplier’s liability. Please refer to the Guest Ticket/Contract for further detailed information.
Independent Travel Arrangements | Oceania Cruises does not provide air transportation for international guests. Flights can be purchased separately from your Travel Agent along with your cruise and any other land arrangements that you may require. Oceania Cruises has no responsibility with regard to air or land travel arrangements that have been made by third-party agents, including non-refundable, restricted travel or frequent flyer tickets. This exclusion of liability includes consequences to independently arranged air or land travel that may result in last minute changes in the embarkation or debarkation ports, and delays in arrival at any airport or port location. Please refer to the Guest Ticket/Contract for full Terms and Conditions of these exclusions. Seat Assignments and Pre-Flight Arrangements | Any pre-flight arrangements, such as seat assignments, frequent flyer programs, wheelchair requests, oxygen or special meal requests, must be made by the guest directly with the airlines based on their policies and procedures. Oceania Cruises cannot confirm any special airline requests unless otherwise specified. These special requests and services should be arranged by your Travel Agent directly with the airlines. Baggage Policy | Luggage for Oceania Cruises’ guests must be handled pursuant to regulations and tariffs of airlines, government security requirements and ground operators. Luggage exceeding these limitations will be subject to charges as set forth by the individual operators, including any excess baggage charges. Fees for checked luggage are now common and are the responsibility of the guest. Please check with your specific airline(s) for their respective luggage policy. Oceania Cruises reserves the right to refuse any items that may be considered dangerous (explosives, firearms, liquid oxygen, combustible or illegal items). Oceania Cruises reserves the right to search any baggage for security reasons. All hand-carried luggage and personal effects are the responsibility of the guest at all times. Oceania Cruises is not responsible for the loss of or damage to guests’ luggage. Baggage insurance is recommended. Luggage and personal belongings will be taken off the ship upon guest debarkation. Under no circumstances will luggage be kept onboard without the owner of such luggage being on the vessel. Guests may bring a reasonable amount of luggage onboard an Oceania Cruises vessel. No baggage or items heavier than 70 lbs. will be loaded onto or off-loaded from our vessels. Please refer to your Guest Ticket/Contract for all applicable Terms and Conditions. Documentation and Visas | Passport and Visa requirements, and regulations in regards to vaccination certificates and other health requirements vary by destination. It is the sole responsibility of each guest to obtain and have available the appropriate valid travel and health documents for their chosen itinerary. Any guest traveling without the proper documentation will not be allowed to board the vessel and no refund of cruise fare or any other travel components purchased from Oceania Cruises will be issued. Passports must be valid six months from the date of trip completion. Due to airline security measures, your passport name must match your airline ticket name or you may be denied boarding. Oceania Cruises accepts no responsibility for obtaining required visas nor for advising guests of visa or other immigration requirements beyond the guidelines indicated. Oceania Cruises does not provide visas, except when guests take Oceania Cruises shore excursions in Russia. At selected other ports Oceania Cruises provides visas onboard at a cost already purchased. Travel Advisories | The U.S. Department of State’s Consular Information Sheets are available for every country of the world. Oceania Cruises recommends that all guests visit the U.S. Department of State’s web site at http://travel.state.gov to obtain information concerning the status of any advisories or warnings issued to travelers for specific countries around the world. Cruise Documents | All final cruise documents and other arrangements made by Oceania Cruises on behalf of the guest(s) will be sent to the designated travel agency or directly to the guest approximately 21 days prior to sail date. A service fee may be charged for early issuance of documentation or for the expedited shipment of documents. Clothing | Recommended onboard clothing is resort or country club-casual. For evening dining, elegant casual resort wear is suggested. We request that jeans, shorts, t-shirts or tennis shoes not be worn at dinner. Boarding | Guests are required to be onboard the vessel at least two hours prior to the scheduled departure time. Should the (in)actions of any guest(s) result in the vessel not sailing at its scheduled departure time, Oceania Cruises shall assess Late Departure Fees, beginning at $1,000 per guest, to said guest(s) directly responsible for any departure that is delayed more than 15 minutes beyond the scheduled and published departure time, to cover the
costs levied against Oceania Cruises by port authorities, governmental and quasi-governmental agencies as agreed and liquidated damages. Smoking | For the safety and security of all guests and staff onboard, Designated Smoking Areas are available on the forward, starboard corner of the Pool Deck and in the aft, port corner of Horizons. These areas are comfortably furnished and conveniently located near food and beverage areas. Smoking is expressly forbidden in all staterooms and suites, on verandas, or in any areas of the ship other than officially Designated Smoking Areas. Smoking in a stateroom or suite or on a veranda represents a serious fire and safety hazard to all guests and staff. Guests choosing to disregard this policy will be disembarked at the next port of call and may also be subject to additional fees that will be imposed to cover the costs associated with any damage to and the required cleaning of furnishings, verandas and surrounding deck and accommodation areas. All areas other than those specified as Designated Smoking Areas will remain smoke-free. This includes all guest suites and staterooms, verandas, restaurants, public areas, the Casino and all other areas of the ship. Cigar and pipe smoking is only permitted on the forward, starboard corner of the Pool Deck. Medical Services | Each of our vessels is equipped with limited medical facilities and staffed by internationally accredited medical personnel. Customary Emergency Room fees and charges do apply for medical services and are dictated by the services performed by the ship’s medical staff. Guests with any medical condition(s) or special needs that may require treatment or attention or accommodation during the voyage, or needing to travel with medical apparatus, including wheelchairs, motorized scooters, oxygen therapy, etc., must advise Oceania Cruises in writing at time of deposit. Please note some ports of call may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility and in such cases, may preclude debarkation for any individual with limited mobility, with or without the aid of a wheelchair or motorized scooter. Oceania Cruises has the right to refuse or revoke passage to anyone who, in its judgment, is in a physical, mental or emotional condition unfit for travel or whose comfort onboard may be compromised due to situations beyond the care that can be provided by Oceania Cruises. Alcohol Policy | The sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages will be limited to guests aged 21 years or older. Oceania Cruises will refuse and prohibits the sale or service of alcoholic beverages to guests under the age of 21 years. Guests are kindly reminded to consume alcohol in moderation. Oceania Cruises reserves the right to prohibit and retain all alcohol bought ashore for consumption onboard the vessel. Gratuities | How much you choose to tip is a personal matter and completely at your discretion. For your convenience the following gratuities are automatically added to your shipboard account. For guests occupying staterooms, gratuities of $14.50 per guest, per day will be added. For guests occupying Penthouse, Oceania, Vista or Owner’s Suites where Butler Service is provided, gratuities of $20.50 per guest, per day will be added. In addition, an 18% service gratuity is automatically added to all beverage purchases, spa services and dinner at La Reserve. Naturally, guests may adjust gratuities while onboard the vessel at their sole discretion. Acts of Nature, Strike, or Other Conditions Beyond Control | Neither Oceania Cruises nor the owners or operators of the vessels identified in this brochure shall be liable for delay or inability to perform any condition in this brochure or any part thereof, caused by or arising out of strikes, lockout or labor difficulties or shortages, whether or not Oceania Cruises is a party thereto or to any other acts of nature, force majeure or other circumstances beyond the control of Oceania Cruises. For Profit Entity | Notwithstanding that Oceania Cruises, at the guest’s option, arranges air transportation, hotel accommodations, ground transfers, shore excursions and other services with independent suppliers of the services, it should be understood that Oceania Cruises, being a “for profit entity,” earns a profit on the sale of optional services. Sellers of Travel Laws | Oceania Cruises has obtained exemption from the Sellers of Travel Laws of Florida, California and other similarly situated jurisdictions based upon its status as a common carrier/ocean carrier.
