Particular attention was paid to the machine’s control system, which is equipped with a PLC and 7� touchscreen panel, through which the operator is able to control the machine in a simple and intuitive manner.

The products are fed into the ALline system by a dual-belt product spacer, and are preoriented and released with the correct timing by a three-roller centring device so that the label is applied correctly centred with respect to a relief on the bottle.

The system also assists the operator in format changes, which are made incredibly fast thanks to the numerous parameters which can be stored in the 100 available recipes.

every producer with more than one bottling and packaging factory, who can exploit the upgrade with new machines and the end of activity in some lines to give new value to another one, thanks to our work. As already said, the project involved also the use of brand new machines which we set into the new layout of the line and for which we have taken care of the orders and the supply. The new machines are the stretch-wrapper, the handle applicator and the bottle inspection device. To conclude the installation activity of the line, we run the testing to deliver to the customer a turnkey system. Giuseppe Boffelli, CEO of BBM Service Srl, had no doubt when the client challenged us with this multifaceted project: “... because the service work we were asked for consisted of the activities BBM was born for in 2005, something we have been offering for years on the market, for which we have a great experience and match perfectly with our concept of recovering and giving new value.”

uring the most relevant supply chain european exhibition, Logimat, Modula proudly presented its new Modula Slim: the new VLM, available in 1,3 m - 1,9 m and 2,5 m tray length, starting from 1,6 m of depth! The big challenge was to combine all the

benefits of a VLM with a Lift Technology in the footprint of a Vertical Carousel. The name is Selfexplanatory: Modula Slim. It means that it really is compact, with a new concept of space saving: taking up only 1,6 m depth to store up to 25.000 kg (gross payload). Think vertical, obviously, as the Modula Slim

material: cartons, bins, packages, boxes, up to 650 mm height and picking times will be dramatically improved with more than 190 picks per hour. Each tray has a 350 Kg net payload and can stock a variety of different sized items, from large quantities of smaller parts to larger and heavier components. Individual trays can be subdivided into different compartments, of varying sizes, by using dividers and partitions, allowing segregation of the components for easy identification. This makes it easy for the operator to pick or replenish, especially when combined with our software, Modula WMS, and a variety of picking aids such as the LED bar or Laser Pointer, helping to dramatically reduce operator error. Another benefit of the Modula Slim VLM is that all of the internal space is fully utilised, thanks to our dynamic tray height storage technology: there are no fixed heights as the Modula Slim is able

It is necessary to check that the right label has been attached, positioned correctly and smoothed without defects. We at Makro Labelling therefore decided to create an in-house Vision Department and to invest heavily in developing two new vision systems: A.L.I.C.E. and M.A.I.A. We have recently launched them onto the market and

they will guarantee perfect and complete integration with the machine automation and a flexible, intuitive, practical response to companies who know they need automatic systems”, says Simone Marcantoni, head of the Automation Department. A.L.I.C.E. - Advanced Label Inspection and Control Environment A.L.I.C.E. is a quality control system able to assess the horizontal and vertical position and angle of the label, together with its alignment with respect to a reference point, whether the logo on the glass, a capsule or another label. The system also checks the label is correct and the overlap of a wraparound label and can read barcodes, a data matrix or characters, or simply check for the label’s presence. M.A.I.A. - Makro Advanced In-line Analysis M.A.I.A. on the other hand is Makro Labelling’s bottle orientation system. The loading plate rotates at regular intervals, so that when the plate stops the three work operations are carried out at the same time: the operator loads the fruit and the two mechanisms perform the coring and slicing operations. The machine has a stainless steel structure and is placed on wheels (with brake) for easy movement. If so desired, adjustable feet can be requested in place of the wheels. The coring tubes are available in different diameters as required. All types of aluminum closures that Herti produces with SARANEX or TIN liners, can be used for wine bottling. “VINSTAR” is the trade mark under which Herti sales its wine designed aluminum closures, among which is “VINSTAR SMART” – an innovative product, first of its kind on the market with PVC-free granulate gasket VinTellox, suitable for still and fizz wines(such as frizzante, perlwein, and cider) is compatible with existing equipment for capping wine bottles and keeps the internal pressure of up to 0.8 MPa-the most suitable liner for a wide range of fizz wines. Herti provides the two most preferred sizes PP30x60 mm BVS and PP 28x44 mm. Recently, more and more popular for bottling wines become other sizes of aluminum screw caps that Herti can offer: PP25x33 mm, PP22x30 mm, PP25x43 mm, 30x24 mm.

For the market area of bottled mineral water and carbonated drinks and juices, Herti provides different solutions – aluminum and plastic closures. During the last years the company realized a green industry project for improving the energy efficiency in the production process and invested in equipment for an innovative closure called DORADO. The automatic press for the collection of labels evacuated from the detergent bath is full of a recovery system of the detergent solution that accumulates in the pressing phase.
