VOLITION BEAUTY’S NEW PRODUCT: HIBISCUS UNSPOTTABLE CORRECTING OIL

olition Beauty partnered with an everyday-woman Innovator, Kim, to launch Hibiscus Unspottable Correcting Oil. This facial treatment oil minimizes the appearance of hyperpigmentation, dark spots, and discoloration due to the hibiscus flower’s naturallyoccurring acids. Kim, a sales director, is a long-time clean beauty advocate. Her need for clean beauty products was inspired

he leading destination in Asia and sixth in the world ranking for Italian cosmetics exports (244 million euros and a growth of over 23 percentage points in 2018): once again, the spotlight of the international cosmetics industry falls upon Hong Kong, where the 24th edition of Cosmoprof Asia will be held, following the successful “One Fair, Two Venues” formula that has been used in previous years. From 12 to 14 November, the Asiaworld Expo will host exhibitors of ingredients, machinery & equipment, packaging, contract manufacturing and private label, while from 13 to 15 November, the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center will open the floor to exhibitors of cosmetics and toiletries, natural health, beauty salon, hair salon, nail and accessories. Around 100 Italian companies (with Cosmetica Italia members making up more than half of this number) have confirmed their presence in Hong Kong, to seize the important business opportunities offered by this Cosmoprof platform event. At the event itself, the national association of cosmetics companies will be supporting an Italian collective participation (Hall 1E and 5G at HKCEC and Hall 6 at AWE) and, in collaboration with ITA – Italian Trade Agency, has been responsible for a range of promotional initiatives in support of Made in Italy and the activities of the Italian exhibitors.

100 Italian companies head to Hong Kong where exports of Made in Italy cosmetics are worth 244 million euros (+23%) is associated with a healthy appearance and well-being in these regions. In Hong Kong, the leading category of cosmetics exported from Italy is that of products for face and body; in 2018, this category represented more than half of Italian cosmetics exports to this market, with a value of 127 million euros and a growth of +29%. In second place were alcohol-based perfume products, with a value of almost 82 million euros and a growth of over 8 percentage points compared to the previous year; albeit at a distance, these were followed by make-up products with 19.3 million euros, an excellent performance that served to more than double the value of this category of cosmetics (+122%). Around 93% of the total value of Italian cosmetics exports destined for this market is concentrated in these first three product families. In 2018, the global turnover of the cosmetics sector was close to 11.4 billion euros, of which 42% was destined for export. Indeed, this marked drive towards internationalisation enabled a positive trade balance of over 2.7 billion euros to be generated. Taking a wider perspective and looking at the cosmetics supply chain as a whole, the total turnover value exceeded 16.2 billion euros in 2018, with a growth rate of 2.4 percentage points.

MONCLER SPA AND INTERPARFUMS SA SIGN A LICENSE AGREEMENT FOR FRAGRANCES

oncler SpA, the iconic global luxury brand, and Interparfums SA, the creator of prestige perfumes and cosmetics, announce to have signed an exclusive and worldwide license agreement for fragrances which will last till December 31st, 2026, with a potential 5-year extension. Under such agreement, Interparfums SA will create and produce perfumes and fragrance-related products and will distribute them in Moncler monobrand stores as well as selected department stores, specialty stores and duty-free shops. The launch of the first fragrance line is expected within Q1 2022. NEWS SCHOTT PHARMACEUTICAL SYSTEMS SCHOTT Smart Containers: Entering a new era in digitized pharma manufacturing

I

n light of the growing need for pharmaceutical packaging innovations and digitalization, international technology group SCHOTT is introducing Smart Containers. The concept enables industry 4.0 for pharma manufacturers to unlock the power of machine vision and big data analytics on pharmaceutical filling lines. Each SCHOTT Smart Container is laser-marked with a unique identifier to create unprecedented traceability throughout the manufacturing process. The technology can be used to improve reject management and line clearance. Other applications include reducing the risk of mix-up, optimizing lyophilization processes, and supporting container-based targeted recalls. The unique identifier is positioned at the bottom of the vial to eliminate the need to turn the container or install multiple cameras. able – the individual unit,” said Diana Löber, Global Product Manager Vials at SCHOTT. “We’re unlocking a new era in digitized pharmaceutical manufacturing toward real-time release and taking advantage of the latest developments in machine vision and data science.” Each Smart Container is marked with a data matrix code that can be as small as 1 x 1 mm, which equals 14 x 14 dots. Developed according to ISO/IEC 16022, the numeric or alphanumeric machine readable code contains 16 or 24 digits, leading to sextilions of possible individual unique numbers. For vials, the unique identifier is positioned at the bottom, hence eliminating the need to turn the container or install multiple cameras, as it would be the case if the code were placed on the body of the vial. The code remains stable during the whole fill & finish process including washing, autoclaving, and depyrogenation up to a temperature of 600°C. It resists abrasion, and avoids the

risk of particle contamination, a key advantage over solutions which need additional substances for the application of the code. Moreover, in contrast to engraving laser technologies, the data matrix code of Smart Container is applied via melting in order to maintain glass strength. By inextricably linking the code to the container at the earliest possible stage within the entire value chain, the concept offers an advantage over systems wherein the code is attached or adhered at a later stage.
