Meet Ritu Puri, the visionary fashionpreneur and leader behind the esteemed brand "Ritu Puri Fashion House," based in Porvorim. A native of Delhi, Mrs. Ritu moved to Goa along with her family in the year 2008 and established her fashion boutique in 2016.

Her Passion For Fashion

From a very young age, Ritu was captivated by colours, designs, and clothing styles. Her mother's impeccable taste and unique selection of clothing left a lasting impression on her, fuelling her passion for fashion. Driven by a desire to create stunning pieces that blend fashion with comfort and confidence, Ritu embarked on a journey to become a fashion designer.

Venturing Into The World Of Entrepreneurship

Armed with a diploma in fashion designing and textile designing, Ritu Puri took the plunge into entrepreneurship, establishing her brand in her hometown. Her vision was clear - to offer sustainable clothing that is not only fashion-forward but also eco-friendly and made from biodegradable components sourced from natural fabrics. This commitment to sustainability sets her apart in the fashion fraternity and has won her recognition and accolades.

Her Entrepreneurial Pursuits

Ritu worked as a fashion designer in Delhi from 2001 till 2008. She moved to Goa in 2008 after her marriage and established Ritu Puri Fashion House in 2016. Under the Ritu Puri Fashion House umbrella, Ritu has three labels that cater to different aspects of the fashion world, namely “Ritu Puri Haute Couture”,

"Dress Code", and "Curves and Beauty”. Ritu Puri Haute Couture is a fashion brand that is involved in the manufacture of designer dresses with exquisite designs. Well-known celebrities who have been clients of Ritu Puri Haute Couture include Bollywood actress Pooja Bedi, award-winning food author Odette Mascarenhas, Konkani film actor Tapan Acharya, Samiksha Kalmari, Manisha Khanna, and many more.

Ritu's second venture, "Dress Code," focuses on designing and manufacturing uniforms for companies, schools, and hotels. Ritu's expertise in creating stylish yet functional uniforms has gained her a reputation as a reliable and creative partner for various enterprises. Her list of big-name clients who she has worked with includes Andore Beach Resort, Baga Beach Resort, Marriott Resort and Spa, Fish Hook restaurant, Artisan bakery, and Urban Turban. She organises a unique fashion show called "Curves and Beauty," which celebrates women of all body types and empowers them to walk the ramp, challenging the stereotype of a "perfect figure" in the fashion industry.

Challenges Faced

Ritu's journey to success wasn't without its share of challenges. Relocating to Goa presented her with the obstacle of the language barrier, making it difficult to communicate and find suitable labour. Furthermore, the slower pace of business in Goa, especially during the monsoons, was a hurdle she had to overcome. However, with determination and perseverance, she turned these challenges into opportunities for growth.

Throughout her entrepreneurial journey, Ritu Puri has received unwavering support from her family, including her parents, husband, daughter, and in-laws. She is also grateful to individuals like Mrs. Siya Shaikh of GoWomania Goa, Mrs. Rahila Khan, and Mr. Prasad Pankar, who have played pivotal roles in her fashion endeavours.

Other Endeavours

Apart from running her fashion boutique, Ritu is a very active member of various social organisations in Goa. She is the President of an NGO called Goa Jan Parishad, and the Vice-President of an NGO called Suraksha Warriors Goa. Apart from this, she is also the

Accolades Won

Ritu’s work as a fashion designer has garnered her a lot of recognition. She has been the recipient of many awards including the "Best Fashion Designer Award” at India's Top 50 Iconic Women Awards 2022, the "Innovative Fashion Designer Award" at Kalakar Achievers Awards 2019 and the "Best Ethnic Designer Award" at Steller Mr. & Ms. Goa Pageant 2020. She was also the winner of the 50 Iconic Influencer Ladies of India award by the Ministry Of Youth & Culture Affairs, Government Of India.

Apart from this, the Government of Goa in collaboration with The Times of India awarded her with the “Times Entrepreneur 2021” award for the voluntary work done by her for society during the COVID pandemic.

Plans for The Future

Looking ahead, Ritu envisions expanding her fashion empire to other major cities in Goa, such as Panjim and Margao. Her boutique in Porvorim serves as a strong foundation for her future ventures, and she is eager to introduce her unique offerings to a wider audience.
