E N G L A N D In 1757, John Baskerville published his first work, a collection of Virgil, and was soon appointed printer to the Cambridge University Press. It was there in 1763 that he published his master work, a folio Bible, which he used his own typeface, ink, and paper.

Created by John Baskerville an English designer of type and printer. He and Caslon were the two great type designers of the 18th century in England.

The type faces introduced the modern, pseudoclassical style. A level serifs and emphasis on the contrast of light and heavy lines.

John Baskerville mastered many 18th century crafts before becoming obsessed with creating a font which typified elegance, simplicity and above all clarity.

The distinctive swash tail on the uppercase Q and in the cursive serifs in the Baskerville Italic. The refined feeling of the typeface makes it an excellent choice to convey dignity and tradition.
