What is the principal focus of the newly formed Business Ventures Division? Hint: It forms part of the company’s vision.
CHANGE CORNER
September 2013
Employee Engagement Part III When employees do not engage in a change, the result is often resistance and non-participation. Employee resistance can be active or passive. It can be observable or discreet. But regardless of how resistance manifests itself, it erodes the value of the change and creates additional barriers and work for the project team. Some resistance comes from poorly managing the change, but some resistance is “good resistance” and represents an informed disagreement with the solution or direction of the project. This type of resistance is important to understand and an important input for project teams, but if we do not engage employees and encourage their participation, we are never able to surface this “good resistance” or separate it out from other resistance.

HEALTH, SAFETY, SECURITY AND THE ENVIRONMENT
Top-of-mind at NP In our August issue, we outlined the current safety initiatives being undertaken in our strides to world-class service to our stakeholders and the environment in which we operate. We have updated our logo to reflect the impetus to responsible and best-practice modes of health, safety, security and environmental actions. NP continues to expand and improve.
NP Tank Gets a Facelift In a pristine white with our new branding, the water tank at NP House has had a facelift. This hallmark representation of NP seen from the highway has had a paintjob and now stands as a beacon to the world-class aspirations of the company. It serves, too, as a reminder of the intrinsic role that NP plays in almost every facet of the average Trinidadian and Tobagonian’s life. From cars, to airplanes, to kitchens, NP is there for all life’s journeys.
