THE SUITES FROM ALL ANGLES
Getting involved in the Residence Hall Association is a great way to meet friends and build a sense of community. If you are thinking about becoming a resident assistant, which would cover your housing costs, joining the RHA is a good way to learn more about the role. RHA members plan events for occasions like Halloween, hold movie nights, and act as advocates for all students. Every residence hall has its own RHA council.
Our residence halls offer everything you need to study, socialize, and make a home away from home.
Our Suites Just Got Sweeter: Get $1,000 toward living in our Suites on campus.
They feature these six floor plans, with suites like mini apartments, complete with private bathrooms. They also include all the things living off campus doesn’t—Wi-Fi, 24/7 security, air conditioning, a resident assistant on your floor who is there to help and can answer your questions, and, best of all, your new best friends right next door.

Don’t know where to start? At the beginning of each semester, we hold student organization fairs called IUP Day and Winter Warm-Up, where you can talk with students from groups that interest you. Join a club— or maybe two—and get involved.
When you find your people and share your passion, you will build confidence, improve your teamwork skills, and make your overall college experience more fulfilling.
GET INVOLVED AND SOMEHAVEFUN
At IUP, you can lead from many places. Student leadership opportunities include the Student Government Association, the Black Student League, fraternities and sororities, the Council on Spiritual and Religious Life, and more. Every club needs leaders.

SET THE STAGE, AND BE THE STAR
Whether you’re joining IUP’s Marching Band (known across Pennsylvania as “the Legend”), playing in the pep band, singing in the chorus, performing original songs or covers at open mic, performing in a musical, joining a dance club, or acting in a student-run play, IUP has plenty of opportunities for aspiring actors and anyone wanting to strike up a tune.

MCSLE—the Center for Multicultural Student Leadership and Engagement—is at the heart of IUP activities, and it’s for everyone. Here, you’ll find all sorority and fraternity organizations, the Multicultural Affairs and Student Success office, leadership programming, and LGBTQIA Support. We call the center “muscle” in conversation, and it’s the perfect place to create memorable experiences that broaden your horizons.
Weekends or weekdays, there’s always something going on. Whether you’re looking for Broadway shows, like Rent and Finding Neverland, or names like Pete Davidson and Chance the Rapper, we promise you won’t get bored.
Our student programming board, STATIC, brings entertainment to IUP. Get involved in getting stars to campus, or just lean back and enjoy. Follow @STATICatIUP on Twitter and Instagram for upcoming events.

We know college life can get stressful, especially during finals. You’ll love meeting our therapy dogs (and star of the show—Ranger), who can take your mind off studying and supply some unconditional love. You can even follow Ranger on Instagram @IUPRanger1

No problem is too big or too small. Our medical and counseling staffs at the Center for Health and Well-Being can get you through the tough times. We also have plenty of fitness options— check out the HUB Fitness Center, where you can use all types of equipment and take classes like spinning and yoga, or swim some laps at Lepley pool in Zink Hall.

Wondering what it looks like just beyond the borders of campus? Join Crimson Guide Meg on a video bike tour through downtown Indiana.
TAKE A BIKE RIDE THROUGH INDIANA
But don’t stop there. In Indiana County, you can go fishing or rent kayaks and other boats at Yellow Creek State Park, just a short distance from campus. Also nearby and part of IUP, the Co-op Park offers 10 miles of walking and hiking trails, along with spots to play disc golf, a 2.5-mile parcourse, and a duck pond.
Of course, you don’t have to go anywhere. The Oak Grove is the heart of our campus, and its Wi-Fi connection allows you to study from your hammock when you get tired of yet another spikeball game. Play pool and video games with some friends in Folger Student Center, or do some dancing in Elkin Hall.

If varsity isn’t your thing, you can still compete in club sports and win big. Our club rugby team just won the national championship this year. Find your sport—from baseball to soccer, from hockey to lacrosse.
Maybe you play a varsity sport. Maybe you just like to play sports for fun. Or, maybe you have made spectating your sport.

BEYOND THE NORM
Ever wonder where our mascot got its name? IUP opened in 1875 as Indiana Normal School. In those days, normal schools were places that trained high school graduates to be teachers.
Basketball, Cross Country, Field Hockey, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, Swimming and Diving, Tennis, Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field, and Volleyball
Compete against your friends in our intramurals program. You’ll find options like cornhole, indoor soccer, basketball, volleyball, and flag football.
If you have a question, ask one of our admissions counselors. They have the answers. At Open House events, be sure to stop by the tables staffed by members of the Center for Multicultural Student Leadership and Engagement, the Student Cooperative Association, and the Office of Housing, Residential Living, and StartDining.by
We’re just scratching the surface. Your IUP experience will transform you, from launching your future with what you learn here to enriching your college years with the fun you’ll have along the way.
