INTRODUCTION
INTERNATIONAL AMPHIBIOUS TRAINING CENTER This unit was created on 7 November 2006, and was initially called the Marine Specialist Infantry Center. Its facilities were built between 2004 and 2005, and today is known as the Coveñas (Sucre) Marine Infantry Training Base. In August 2012 it became known as the International Amphibious Training Center (“CIEAN” is acronym in Spanish) and its mission is to conduct courses of instruction and training to raise the level of operational effectiveness of the different marine infantry units. Currently, it is the unit responsible for conducting the different specialized courses for personnel from the Colombian Navy, from other national forces and those from friendly countries. Different courses and training programs for all kinds of special needs are carried out within these facilities.
COLOMBIAN MARINE INFANTRY TRAINING BASE The Marine Infantry Training Base was established in 1974 and has been the home to a disciplined, trained and highly skilled group of professionals. This is where the knowledge gained from training and understanding is brought together to perfect land and river operations. Some of the most modern and extraordinary war tactics have emerged from this base. Its mission is to develop the different types of training, educational and qualifying course for officers, NCOs, and members of the Marine Infantry, who will be assigned to units of the Colombian Navy, to contribute to the fulfilment of its institutional objectives.
