SOPHIE Sophie is a British artist & architect based in London. She finds inspiration from her environment both past and present; some of this draws from time living in Asia and Australia. Sophie's work seeks to interpret the essentiality beyond the purely visual. She has a curiosity in how memory can focus this; filter it, and how individuals with the same visual experience can come away with such different visual memories of it. The process of creating allows an idea to expand and distil again as a concept, with images often becoming abstract and calm in the process. Her figurative work is much quicker, it seeks to capture the substance of the pose, be that weight, tension, movement, form or emotion - the life within it.

RICHARD K “After an upbringing on the family farm on the coast of North Cornwall, I left my tractor behind to train in graphic design and illustration at Kingston University in the mid ‘80s. I've since spent thirty years in the creative industry in London, first as an illustrator and graphic designer, and now as a full time artist. Urban life inspires me, seeking to capture the perpetually evolving patterns and rhythms of architecture and people in my work. I paint this ‘dance to the music of time' by combining an observational drawing style with colour, marks, texture and pattern. My goal is to spark a recognition and dialogue with the viewer, asking them to discover in my paintings a visual expression of their own urban lives.”

CLAIRE G Imagery inspired by travel to places near and far around the world. A love and interest of urban cities, their layers of gradual decay and the diversity of rural landscapes and dramatically changing skies are the catalyst for much of her work. Journeys are recorded in sketch books, new places visited and remembered. These are the visual tools of her personal search for an essential energy - the Essence captured of her chosen subject Specialising in oil paintings on panel and also tone of unique works on paper using a range of printmaking techniques. A combination of layers of abstracted marks, colour and line are built up and then partially removed or covered over by subsequent over painting or printing to produce subtle yet powerful images. Clare works from her studio in North London. She attained her Masters Degree from Camberwell College of Art. Her art has been commissioned by various organisations including Claridge's, The Hilton Hotel Paris, The Landmark Hotel and The Carlton Towers in Knightsbridge. Recently, artworks have been reproduced for several universities and organisations in Saudi Arabia. Her artwork has been exhibited across the U.K and abroad and is also held in various private, corporate & national collections including Victoria & Albert Museum, BUPA Headquarters, Care International Scotland and The Langham London.

JUDITH My recent work has been influenced by spending time in Cornwall and looking at the paintings of the St Ives artists, including Peter Lanyon. I have been using collage to experiment with creating a new dimension to the landscape, using line to give energy to, and to help capture the particular mood of, a place. I am continuing this idea with my work in paint on canvas too. In addition, I continue to draw from the figure, trying to keep the energy and essence of the pose. “These figures are not the hour long slog pursued in the academic life class, but have the feeling of imminent change and therefore truly ‘life'.” (Frank Low, Art Critic)

WILLIAM B Inspired by the old master, but retaining a very contemporary approach to the nude, William’s paintings are stunning in their exploration of the body, water and light. “I have always been inspired by the human figure and the effect light has upon it. I have used various ways of portraying the body such as dance, swimming and also boxing but it is the body itself that interests me rather than the activities in particular. It is the physicality of the form and the beauty of the athletic figure that makes me want to paint.” “I usually have an idea of how I want the painting to look but in some pieces the original idea moves into something else and I leave some of the older workings, the initial sketches and drawing, the structure as I love to leave that energy visible. I try to convey emotionally charged work using light and shadow as well as rich and contrasting colour. I want a level of realism but I also want to escape from the confines it can impose and react to the paint and image in a more expressive way.” William uses lots life drawing for reference but information and ideas come from all areas including films, books and magazines, which are all utilized to reinforce the imagery of the painting. Klimt, Bacon, Schiele, Leonardo Da Vinci, Caravaggio, Waterhouse are some of the artists that he has studied and that have had a great influence on his work.
