3 months traineeship in the “Observatori de la Urbanizació de Catalunya” in Barcelona. (Tutor Francesc Muñoz, director of the Observatory) In the Observatory we have worked with the municipality of Barcelona about some criticities that Catalunya and in particular Barcelona are leaving. In details I’ve co-worked with other trainees from UAB (University of Barcelona) and with the Municipality to find solution to Barcelona’s resilience related to the turism and the problems that it concern (some examples are the “cost” of the city and the urban sprawl related, or the transformation of the Ciutat Vella in a big “Shopping center”.

O CAMINHO DE LA CASA An alternative walk Caminho de Compostela é um/uma passeio/ passagem atravessado por cerca de 200000 perigrinos todos os anos. A parte portuguesa do caminho percorre a distancia de 952 km e tem como intuito a preservacao do caminho medieval e da procura espiritual das pessoas crentes. O caminho cria uma relaçao entre o perigrino e a paisagem, no fundo trata-se da natureza a simular a reflexao,no entanto, nao apenas focada na sua face religiosa. O projecto visa definir um novo espaço para os restantes perigrinos. O design do projecto està relacionado com a ideia de isolamento e reflexao encombidos num espaco que bebe da energia que provém da luz e do silencio. Este caminho localiza-se no norte do Crato, entre Vale do Peso e Alpalhao e é tambèem perto da estaçao de comboio desta mesma localiade.
Caminho de Compostela is a walk that almost 200.000 pilgrims run across every years. The Portuguese part of the “Caminho” is long 952km and it has the aim to preserve the medieval walk and spiritual research that every faithful people has. The Caminho create a relation between the pilgrim and the landscape, the nature stimulating the reflexion not only in the religious way. The aim of the project is to define a new space for the rest for the pilgrims. The design of the project is related to the idea od isolation, and reflection, an essential space that bring is energy from the light and the silence. HOUSING FERTILIA Pubblic and private systems L’obiettivo di Progetto è quello di riconvertire alcuni spazi della piccola città di Fertilia, città di fondazione fascista. Fertilia è una città metafisica, costruita secondo lo schema del cardo e del decumano, caratterizzata da una profonda relazione con il mare e con la costa sulla quale si affaccia rivolgendo il suo sguardo verso Alghero. L’area di progetto comprende la riconversione di Villa Doria, un vecchio edificio abbandonato a cui affiancare un nuovo complesso abitativo.
The aim of Progetto is to convert some of the spaces in the small town of Fertilia, a city of fascist foundation, to be converted. Fertilia is a metaphysical city, built according to the scheme of the cardo and the decumanus, characterized by a profound relationship with the sea and the coast on which it faces, turning its gaze towards Alghero. The project area includes the reconversion of Villa Doria, an old abandoned building to which a new housing complex can be added.
Il progetto quindi ha cercato di riflettere sul ruolo dello spazio pubblico in contrasto con quello privato, ricercando una convivenza tra le parti basandosi sul contrasto degli spazi pubblici, degli accessi e delle corti.
The project therefore tried to reflect on the role of public space in contrast with the private one, seeking a coexistence between the parties based on the contrast of public spaces, accesses and courts.

EL MERCAT DE POBLE NOU Contaminacion del Barrio Il quartiere del Poble Nou è il vecchio “Barrio” industriale di Barcellona, caratterizzato dalla presenza di numerosi architetture industriali si caratterizza oggi per la sua riconversione a quartiere “hi-tech” in cui tante Start-up o aziende tecnologiche instaurano la residenza. Anche il Poble Nou soffre come tutta la città del problema della speculazione immobiliare che rende impossibile la convivenza tra trasformazioni turistiche e popolazione locale. Il progetto per un nuovo mercato si concentra sulla riappropriazione degli spazi urbani a partire da uno degli elementi architettonici caratteristici della città ovvero il mercato riconvertendo non solo l’area di progetto ma l’intero isolato in un insieme di funzioni destinati a tutto il Barrio. Il progetto nasce dal principio della “distruzione” di alcuni spazi residuali dell’isolato come vecchi capannoni industriali ormai in disuso; cresce attraverso la “riappropriazione” dello spazio attraverso la formazione di alcuni vuoti trasformati in spazi pubblici e si completa con la “contaminazione” attraverso un elemento architettonico parassitario, una copertura che definisca gli spazi progettuali e ne caratterizzi l’unitarietà

The Poble Nou district is the old industrial “Barrio” of Barcelona, characterized by the presence of numerous industrial architecture is characterized today by its reconversion to the “hi-tech” district where many startups or technological companies establish their residency. Even the Poble Nou suffers as the whole city of the problem of real estate speculation that makes it impossible to cohabitation between tourist transformations and the local population. The project for a new market focuses on the re-appropriation of urban spaces starting from one of the characteristic architectural elements of the city or the market, reconverting not only the project area but the entire block into a set of functions for the entire Barrio. The project stems from the principle of “destruction” of some residual spaces of the block as old industrial warehouses now in disuse; it grows through the “re-appropriation” of space through the formation of some empty spaces transformed into public spaces and is completed with the “contamination” through a parasitic architectural element, a covering that defines the design spaces and characterizes their unity

SPATIAL DIACHRONY A new temporality Nuoro è una città ambigua. Essa è sempre stata una città di incroci e di incontri, è cresciuta e si è formata dalle tante differenze che l’Isola ha da offrire e, grazie a ciò. Nuoro è diventata una città dall’enorme eredità culturare storica e letteraria, eredità che ha permesso di soprannominarla “Atene Sarda” Attualmente la città vive una profonda crisi economica esattamente come l’intera Isola. Le conseguenze sono state catastrofiche verso l’aspetto sociale e identitario, sopratutto in una città come Nuoro, profondamente legata alla sua eredità storica. Questo progetto nasce dalla necessità di rispondere a questa crisi, attraverso l’analisi di due aspetti principali di Nuoro; il primo è la temporalità, ovvero la capacità di adattarsi ed essere resiliente a una crisi, e il secondo si concentra più nel dettaglio dello spazio pubblico, ovvero tutti quegli elementi dove Nuoro è cresciuta e sviluppata storicamente e culturalmente, al fine di ricercare quindi un nuova via di crescita per la città Università degli studi di Sassari Graduation Thesis in Urban Planning Relator: Paola Pittaluga Nuoro (NU), Sardinia, Italy 2017
Nuoro is an ambiguous city. It’s always been a city of meetings for the center of Sardinia. Indeed it’s grown and formed from the many differences that the Island offer and accordingly to that this diversity made Nuoro a city of a great cultural, historical and literary heritage as it’s called “Sardinian Athens” Actually, the city lives a deep economical crysis as in all the island. The conseguences are catastrofical in the social and identity aspect, above all in a city with a city like Nuoro deeply related to his historical heritage. This work born to answer to this deep crisys analysing two aspect of Nuoro, the first is its temporality, its capacity to adapt and to be resilient to the crysis the second is to focus on public spaces, the spaces where Nuoro’s cultural and historical heritage is born and develops and to designs finally a new way the city could grow.
A DIFFERENT SYSTEM Il progetto prende forma in un unico sistema lineare formato da quattro progetti complementari, tre pensati come indirizzi trasformativi futuri e l’ultimo legato invece a un intervento più mirato nel dettaglio, il cui obiettivo è sperimentare un nuovo elemento pubblico per la città, il così detto microcosmo.
Finally the project it’s composed bu a unique linear system composed by four complementary projects, three that are address for future transformations and the last one that is a more mirated project plan with the aim to speriment a new pubblic element for the city, the “microcosmo”.
Il progetto nella sua scala più bassa ha l’obiettivo di scoprire un nuovo spazio pubblico, uno spazio che si possa definire come insieme di tutti gli elementi costitutivi della città, i margini, i nodi, i quartieri, i percorsi diventano dei requisiti progettuali come centro dello spazio trasformativo per la città di Nuoro. Spazio che racchiuda al suo interno spazio pubblico, funzioni pubbliche (università), funzioni private (locali commerciali).

THE GREEN CONGESTION
L’obiettivo di questo intervento è di ridisegnare la distribuzione degli spazi stradali della strada principale del quartiere di Sant’avendrace ricercando compromesso e convivenza tra veicoli e altre utenze. L’ingorgo verde, si basa sull’idea di riempire la strada con conflitti positivi come piste ciclabili e nuove alberature. In questo senso la strada cambia aspetto, le corsie sono congestionate in maniera positiva rispetto ai metodi tradizionali. Il marciapiede è progettato come un nuovo spazio pubblico nelle intersezioni per garantire una conessione tra il parco e il resto ella città compatta
The aim of this intervention is to redisign the distribution of the space of the main road of the district respect to an new idea of convivence between vehicles and others utences. The “green congestion” is based on the idea of fill the street with positive conflict elements like a bycicle tracks and trees. In this sense the road change is aspect, the cars lanes are congestionated in a new way respect to traditional method (bumps, traffic lights). The new sidewalk is designed like a new pubblic space in the intersections to guarantee a relation bewteen the new park and the compact city.
