There is no doubt that increasing energy efficiency benefits the planet, but it also helps your company realise significant cost savings as electricity prices continue to rise. Energy prices have skyrocketed in the last 18 months, with no sign of returning to pre-2015 levels. From July 1st 2017, businesses will see an unprecedented increase of 30-40% in their operating electricity costs. As such, any reduction in electricity usage translates into substantial savings.

Current Scenario

What is EnergyLink Leading the charge in our Sydney office is a team of committed scientists, engineers, software developers and building services experts who are devoted to helping you understand and reduce your energy consumption. We’ve built a platform called EnergyLink that automatically identifies inefficient energy consumption patterns and generates tailored recommendations for your sites. EnergyLink empowers your team to become experts in how energy is used in your operations. You’ll no longer need to rely on outside help for procurement, sustainability, reporting and growth. As an EnergyLink client, your leaders gain the knowledge they need to make smart energy decisions, saving your company time and money.

Automated Bill Analysis Are your bills correct? It’s possible that you are being overcharged by your energy retailer. Last year, 2261 customers complained to the NSW Energy and Water Ombudsman about billing errors from utility companies. EnergyLink has a bill estimation feature which calculates the correct charge for your usage based on up-to-date tariffs, environmental charges and network fees. This feature has allowed several EnergyLink customers to identify and recoup overcharges worth thousands of dollars from their retailers.

Are your tenants paying their way? Do you have tenants using your facilities? You deserve to be reimbursed for their electricity and water usage. EnergyLink’s sub-metering allows you to see exactly how much electricity/ water each tenant is using and can even generate bills for you to pass on.

Achieve best practice Outside your operating hours, there’s no reason to have lighting or equipment left on. Yet we often find that sites have a high base load in the evenings and on weekends when there’s no-one around. You might have stickers on your light switches encouraging people to switch equipment off if they’re last to leave, but how consistently is that done? Perhaps your staff do the right thing but the cleaners or security guards neglect to turn things off when they leave. Regardless of the cause, EnergyLink can help you reduce your base load consumption. Our analysis engine automatically identifies spikes in consumption outside your operating hours, giving your team insights into specific ways to make savings.

Receive actionable and trackable recommendations Through a combination of machine learning algorithms and the astute eyes of our experienced electrical engineers, your business will receive recommendations and reports highlighting what needs to change to make your site efficient. We crunch a huge amount of data including your site’s history of consumption, readings from individual sub-meters, meteorological data and industry benchmarking stats to identify energy performance issues, improvements, maintenance events, equipment upgrades and more within the platform itself. Recommendations usually include the expected financial payoff from implementing a recommendation. Facility managers receive notifications via email and can then decide whether to action or ignore a recommendation.

Account owners can see a history of which recommendations have been actioned and can follow monthly reports to see how the site is performing since enabling EnergyLink. An example Buildings with complex HVAC set ups can be difficult to manage efficiently.

The EnergyLink team helped Nowra Anglican College uncover one such problem. A manual setting of the library air conditioners was set to run after hours and on the weekends when the school was closed. Using the advanced analysis features in EnergyLink Pro, the EnergyLink team identified this anomaly and helped the Nowra Anglican’s property manager correct it, reducing their out of hours baseload by almost 35%. This resulted in a cost saving of $15,000 per year.

Continuous Improvements The power of sub-metering EnergyLink Pro is a sub-metering solution that enables a granular breakdown of the total electricity usage on-site. Without sub-metering, all you’ll see is the total consumption for the entire site. Is it the air conditioning system that’s responsible for the high overnight load? It’s impossible to tell just by looking at the gross consumption figures. By installing sub-meters to different parts of the site, we can collect a far more comprehensive dataset. With this data, EnergyLink quickly identifies irregularities or anomalies with particular pieces of equipment and helps address kVA spikes that result in high capacity charges. Our sub-meters can monitor any type of equipment or hardware and can interface with existing energy and building management systems. EnergyLink automatically identifies inefficient energy consumption patterns and sends out bespoke conversational recommendations directly to your site team. Installation of EnergyLink Pro requires no shut down at the site premises and is usually completed in one business day.

Upskill your staff in site efficiently and data mapping The facilities team is often one of the the busiest teams in the organisation. Every day, they have to deal with equipment and building faults, ongoing preventative maintenance, and complaints about air conditioning and heating climate control. With that kind of workload, it can be hard for them to maintain a bigger picture of operations. EnergyLink gives your facilities team actionable insights so they can get to work on the highest priority issues and see a high level view of where the site is performing well and where it could improve. Along with the software, EnergyLink comes with a comprehensive knowledge base that explains how to fine tune HVAC set points, solve power factor correction issues, identify whether voltage optimisation is required and many other energy saving tips and tricks. Site Visits As a part of the engineering service offer, site visits are used to further understand focus sites, such as best and worst practice sites identified through benchmarking. These visits help to identify efficiency solutions that may not be immediately apparent when analysing whole of site meter data, particularly capital upgrade opportunities. During site visits our engineers also work with managers and staff to understand operations and equipment. User Training Site managers receive an invite to the EnergyLink platform via email along with easy to understand user manuals, online videos and our knowledge support desk. Ongoing training and support will be provided as requested or to target trouble spots when looking to achieve greater savings.

Data collection for compliance and reporting More and more organisations are adding corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability goals to their annual plans. EnergyLink can help you go beyond empty statements of intention and collect accurate data that you can use to report to stakeholders on your achievements against specific performance indicators. Our dashboard feature shows you total greenhouse gas emissions in a given time period and allows you to easily compare data pre and post intervention. EnergyLink users can subscribe to a range of daily, weekly or monthly consumption reports. These reports drive awareness of on-site operations and will help you quickly identify issues to be addressed. EnergyLink can also be configured to feed information into your corporate, financial and sustainability reporting platforms, saving time on manual reporting processes.
