Description RESSÓ is an urban, social, energetic rehabilitation strategy and a pedagogical tool. The project was created by a multidisciplinary student grup from UPC, selected as one of the only 20 projectes around the world to take part on the Solar Decathlon Europe (SDE) 2014 competition in Versailles, Paris, France. The SD is an international univestity competition focused on research, innovation, design and subsequent construction of energy self-sufficient living spaces that run only on solar energy. Our proposal is based on two main ideas: The prototype’s second life after the competition and the aproach to the social and energetic crisis of its environmental reality. Personal Motivations The main motivation of this project was the ambition of building a space, an atmosphere; To overcome the limits of the paper to reach a spatial reality; And to live the transformation process from the drawings to the construction work.

Competition ReThinking Big Urban Crunch 1st prize Finalist Prize 04_07 | 2015 Nezahualcóyotl, Mexico Seri Estruch, Santi Julià, Bernat Pedro, Iván Roguera
Description Based on the peripheric city of Nezahualcóyotl, at the surrounding of MexicoDF, the competiton asked for a new urban model to redensificate the city. The evolution of Nezahualcóyotl is intimately dependent of time, defining it as one of the basic parameters. The proposal is based on adding up new layers in the urban fabric over time in order to transform the lived and built reality. Greening the city and making it work in a more sustainable way without the need to drive, improving the existing buildings, redensifying the city by adding housing units that overlap the existing ones and creating new public equipment closer to the inhabitants while acting as a reference point. Personal Motivations With half of the team in Chicago and the other half in Brasil, we started with the challenge to experience working in distance, through the net. Then we searched another scale of project, and a more abstract objective with the purpose of getting a debate in which to develop new ideas. 18

Description Since the bullfighting was forbidden in Catalonia, “La Monumental” - the last bullring of the city - has been relived to events of minor nature. The competition asked for a proposal of a new use. So for the competition we proposed a reuse of the space based on four aspects. The MONUMENTAL as History The MONUMENTAL as Strategy The MONUMENTAL as Coexisten The MONUMENTAL as an Urban Courtesy Personal Motivations The aim of this project was to test or capacity to take part on ideas competition. At the same time, to manage the 3 weeks we disposed to work on an analysis phase of the preexistence and the area, to think on the different possibilities and the best way to be developed and finally to work on the solution and its representation.

Description Revitalize the city center through a housing project. The city of São Paulo is known for being one of the biggest metropolis in the world, with one of the greatest social, urban and environmental degradation. The controversial high line Costa e Silva, also known as Minhocão is the greatest example of drastic and immediate devaluation of the central environment of São Paulo. Given the current debate about the future of Minhocão, this project proposes to restore the quality of life of which already was a highly residential area. through a mixed-use housing with a set of passages and public spaces. Personal Motivations In this project I looked for the reasons of the dregradation of the city center of São Paulo. Then, focused on a clearer example of it and worked on a way to generat a revitalization of the area through architecture.

Description Recovering two manor houses of the town of Figueras for a new use, this project propouses a continuity of the street to the interior of the buildings. Once inside of each building, they gain privacity in height. The individual rooms are concentrated in the first building where the vast majority of the services are, while the aparments and the day care center are in the second one. With the rehab of both buildings the project tries to work as a social catalyst, organizing them around a diaphanous strip that will also work as an interior passage. Personal Motivations I decided to take part on this subject motivated by the opportunity to work in the rehabilitation of a building. I think that it’s essential to have the ability to readapt our existing buildings to the new uses as well as to know how their tectonical morphology works and how we can reinforce them adapting new solutions.

Academic Escola d’arquitectura del Vallès, UPC - Barcelona Tech TAP 6 02 | 2013_06 | 2013 Sant Cugat, Spain Víctor Díaz -Asensio, Sergi Estruch, Iván Roguera
Description Growing possibilities of consolidated cities. On the outskirts of the town of Sant Cugat in Catalonia, in the area called Can Mates, the city offers the possibility to create a new neighborhood. This project aims to test the capabilities of the place to take a significant implementation of housing, public equipment and spaces necessary to develop civic life. Personal Motivations The challenge of this project was to work in a peripherical area with a big diversity of preexistences, everything really dispersed and in a big scale.

Description As an architect formed in the ETSAV (Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura del Vallès), within the frame of the BarcelonaTECH - UPC, I have been prepared to work and design not only considering the conceptual idea of the project, but also its constructive and structural realization. Here are some examples of the construction details and the structural calculation. Personal Motivations To work on the solution of the different elements of the building, designing them and calculating them as if to be constructed.
