THE IVECO BUS BRAND IS BORN

The birth of the Iveco Bus brand, the renewed commitment to African markets, the massive deployment of innovative technologies for after-sales service. These are important steps for a global company, aware that change and continuous improvement are key to keeping up with the times and competing with the best. They are also the main topics that we will cover in this issue of Iveco Plus. Starting with the new name of our brand dedicated to the transport of people. The objective is to continue to be leaders in Europe and grow globally. URBANWAY, a vehicle intended for the city, is the first of a new generation of buses in which the technological content (respect for the environment, passenger and driver comfort and low cost of operation), bears witness to the whole brand philosophy. On some remote African roads you can still come across a truck that has made transport history in the continent: the Fiat 682, better known as the “King of Africa”. Built in 1952, it has become legendary for its robustness and load capacity. Today, the legend lives on in the new 682 which in Angola, a country undergoing extraordinary growth, is preparing to retrace the road of its illustrious predecessor. A “special” insert in the centre of the magazine will talk about a market with great potential and explain, in detail, the vehicle's characteristics. We all know that today's market requires not only innovative and high quality products but also an adequate package of support services. With the “Workshop of the future” project, Iveco plays its cards and sends the old concept of after-sales service to the attic, outlining a system in which telematics is the key to success. But innovation is also the champion in an article on the Stralis LNG Natural Power, of how a vehicle can be always up to date whilst respecting the environment. Following that, how social networks can become a driving force for sales, and culminating with a moment of pure sporting emotion: Iveco's support of the MotoGP World Championship and the Yamaha team; racing together towards new goals. Enjoyable reading

THE NEW URBANWAY by Nicola Grande

A "LOUNGE IN THE CITY" IVECO CHOSE THE 2013 EDITION OF THE UITP WORLD CONGRESS & MOBILITY AND CITY TRANSPORT EXHIBITION IN GENEVA TO PRESENT THE NEW IVECO BUS BRAND AND FOR THE DEBUT OF THE URBANWAY CITY BUS A double appointment in Geneva for Iveco at the UITP Exhibition, organised by the International Association of Public Transportation. An important event for the company which presented Iveco Bus, the Iveco brand dedicated to the transportation of people replacing Iveco Irisbus and also confirming the company's commitment in this sector. Iveco Bus represents the group's philosophy and sees the bus segment fully integrated into the company. A visual change also as the front grille now carries the Iveco logo. "This change" - commented Lorenzo Sistino, Iveco Brand President "marks the beginning of a new phase in the bus sector, with the objective of global growth. This is the last step in a long process of consolidation that has deep roots in the history of the company. Iveco Bus is, in fact, founded on a prestigious European heritage that has allowed the

4

company to become a major player in the passenger transport sector in Europe". But in Geneva there was another important debut: the launch of the URBANWAY, the first Euro VI passenger vehicle presented by Iveco Bus. The model incorporates all of the many innovative features that Iveco Bus has developed to respond to market requirements, with particular attention to operating costs and to the comfort of the passengers and driver. The interior has been completely redesigned, while the driver area has the best comfort standards in its category. Iveco Bus benefits from numerous innovations introduced by the company in the city bus for example the steel frame 400 kilograms lighter than its predecessors. Treated with a cataphoretic system for protection against corrosive agents, it has been completely redesigned and is able to combine the benefits provided by higher

resistance than previous vehicles with a significant weight reduction. Moreover, it is highly customisable according to the needs of customers and local authorities. Maintenance operations have also been simplified on the URBANWAY, with all components that are subject to more frequent checks being with positioned in easily accessible and inspectionable places. The vehicle is the result of careful attention to every detail, starting from the innovative yet functional design. The new headlights, for example, integrate the LED DRL (Daytime Running Lights) with wraparound headlights to increase visibility in the city for enhanced safety. The fog lamps have a “Cornering Light function to provide lateral illumination in tight bends and in difficult manoeuvres and the interior has finishes featuring a completely new concept in terms of lightness and comfort.

In terms of lighting, two continuous bands of customisable LEDs run along the entire roof in the central area, backlit with an enveloping luminous effect. All this conceals the ducts of the air-conditioning system, in turn improved compared to the previous ranges, with the result of increasing the air flow by 50 per cent compared to previous models. To facilitate getting on and off, the central door has been moved toward the rear providing more space for passengers and delimiting an ample platform to accommodate two wheelchairs. The new style also applies to the seats,

lighter, more modular and easier to maintain. On the new URBANWAY, the designers have paid special attention to the comfort of the driver by complying with the EBSF (European Bus System of the Future) standard. The driving area thus ensures the best in terms of ergonomics, space and comfort. The elevated position provides an excellent view of the road and stress-free driving. All the controls are at the fingertips and the possibility of adjusting the swivel seat allows every driver to find the best possible configuration to face the working day in the city traffic.

ON THE PAGES: IMAGES OF THE NEW URBANWAY AND THE PRESS CONFERENCE OF PIERRE LAHUTTE IN GENEVA (BELOW).

STATE OF THE ART IN CITY BUSES

In Geneva, it was Pierre Lahutte, Head of Iveco Bus, who illustrated the characteristics of the new URBANWAY. "This is the first vehicle" – he explained – "of a new generation of buses that will have the distinctive features of the Iveco Bus identity. Not only a new vehicle, but also an innovative approach to urban mobility, with greater emphasis on passenger and driver comfort. URBANWAY is also the first to adopt the exclusive Hi-eSCR technology on Tector 7 and Cursor 9 engines, both Euro VI, which reduces operating and management costs". With the new URBANWAY has after-sales management also been taken into account? "Certainly, starting from the exterior design of the vehicle. We focused on total cost of ownership, improving, for example, accessibility to technical compartments to accelerate and simplify routine maintenance". Speaking of urban transport, how are customer expectations changing in this area? "Public transport is changing. Citizens are increasingly sensitive to environmental issues and choose public transport for getting around town, leaving the car in the garage. At the same time, expectations on the service provided are growing. For this reason the new URBANWAY is designed to be a real “city lounge” for passengers and driver. This means excellent accessibility, ample space availability, high level comfort also via LED lighting and quality air conditioning. For the driver, in addition, this means a new driver area designed according to the results of the EBSF (European Bus System of the Future) project. And that's just the beginning."

SCR HNCO NH3 (NH and NH3 reduction by NH3)

The Hi-eSCR system for the treatment of emissions has made its debut on the URBANWAY along with the Tector 7 Common Rail 6.7 litre engine with Euro VI approval. After having been presented in conjunction with the Cursor 9 Common Rail 8.7 litre engine, the Hi-eSCR is now also available on the smaller Tector 7 in different power classes according to mission and market. This technology reduces NOx emissions without the use of EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) and does not compromise fuel efficiency. It is an effective and efficient solution, particularly suitable for urban transport because it limits the complexity and, consequently, costs of operation. In short, a saving in terms of TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), all added value in tenders to win public administration contracts. The new engines made for Iveco by FPT Industrial are the result of the integration process in place at Fiat Industrial aimed at the customisation of technical solutions. The new Euro VI Tector 7 with Hi-eSCR is an example of this. SELECTIVE PASSIVE DPF It has seen a close working relationship between FPT CATALYTIC REDUCTION technicians, Iveco engineering and with the product platforms. In this way a high-performance and “best in class engine in terms of output, operating economy and emission reduction was obtained. Iveco Bus, moreover, confirms its commitment in the field of sustainable mobility by offering the possibility of providing URBANWAY with an alternative compressed natural gas transmission, thanks to the Euro VI Cursor 8 CNG engine, and to the hybrid CLEAN UP DIESEL UREA INJECTION CATALYST versions with electric motor, lithium batteries and OXIDATION CATALYST Tector 7 motor generator group.

ASTRA HHD9 by Carlo Fiorino

IVECO ASTRA HHD9 FOR IMPOSSIBLE MISSIONS A SPECIALIST COMFORTABLE IN THE QUARRY, IN THE FOREST, ON LARGE CONSTRUCTION SITES AND IN OIL FIELDS, THIS NEW HEAVY VEHICLE WAS PRESENTED AT BAUMA IN MUNICH

Its job is to solve impossible missions. Off-road, steep slopes and in every extreme application, such as in quarries and on construction sites, where it's called to do its part. The new superheavy HHD9 Astra is hard, with a strong character, but reliable. In April Iveco debuted the vehicle at the 30th edition of Bauma, in Munich, in chassis version with a dumper, at 63 tonnes of GVW. Fitted with a 480 Hp Cursor 13 engine and Allison 4700 7 speed automatic transmission, this vehicle is the champion, underground, on site and off road. The technology fitted on this vehicle contributes to ensuring the strength and reliability that make it suitable to work in mines under any conditions: heavy duty Kessler axles with reinforced parabolic front and rear suspension, new front axles with disc brakes and a heavy duty 3-cylinder steering system to improve steering angles. Its reinforced chassis, consisting of two flat and parallel side members and designed to offer improved stability and durability in the toughest working conditions, ensures an RBM (Rail Bending Moment) value among the highest. Resistance is also combined with comfort for those driving this superheavy vehicle. The cab has in fact been completely redesigned and is in high-strength steel. The HHD (Heavy Heavy Duty) range also includes the 6x6 model in chassis and tractor version with a GVW of 50 tonnes capable of reaching up 70 kilometres per hour and a GCW of from 120 up to 250 tonnes, depending on the vehicle configuration. The vehicle customisation possibilities are almost infinite: from short to long cabs to the wide range of gearboxes and options available.

The flexibility of configuration allows the customer to find a tailor-made product, perfectly suited to the demands of different specialist areas, from forestry to heavy construction, from mining to special off-road

transport and oilfield applications.

STRALIS LNG NATURAL POWER by Christian Benna

THE IVECO MARATHON RUNNER GIVES IT FULL GAS

ON THE TRACK FOR 750 KM WITHOUT STOPPING - THIS IS THE RECORD RANGE ACHIEVED BY THE STRALIS LNG NATURAL POWER, THE LATEST ADDITION TO IVECO'S ALREADY EXTENSIVE RANGE OF ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY ALTERNATIVE TRACTION VEHICLES. Diesel? What was that? From 2035 onwards a third of drivers of heavy vehicles will have some difficulty in answering this question. According to NGVA Europe, the European association for natural gas vehicles, in approximately twenty years natural gas will be the new king of the market at fuelling stations, "driven" by compressed or liquefied natural gas (CNG or LNG) trucks. On the road, the champions of this low environmental impact revolution will be the commercial vehicles that have been technological forerunners - such as Iveco's. Since the 80s, in fact, Iveco has invested heavily in natural gas propulsion. And today, in addition to being the only commercial vehicle company to offer a full range of natural gas vehicles from Daily to Stralis, Iveco is the European leader in research and sales. In the CNG fleet there is a wide choice: from the 3.5 tonnes Daily Natural Power to the 16 tonnes Eurocargo (the low emission best seller) and the 40 tonnes Stralis CNG. In total, approximately 12,000 Iveco natural gas vehicles now form part of the fleets of private companies and public administration, of which approx. 5,000 are Daily, 2,000 vehicles are in the medium and heavy ranges and approximately 5,000 are buses. The killer application, as computer scientists call a decisive and winning solution, comes from the latest Iveco technological innovation: the Stralis LNG, i.e. a heavy duty vehicle fuelled by liquefied natural gas. Presented at the last "Bedrijfsauto" Exhibition in Amsterdam, it is a truck with the range of a tireless marathon runner, able to travel without stopping for 750 km.

8

CNG vehicles store methane gas at 200 bar in steel tanks. The compressed gas has a lower cost of production, but needs more volume in the tank to be stored. In liquefied natural gas vehicles, as is the case of the new Stralis LNG, Iveco has made a technological leap forward. The fuel is stored in liquid state at -125ยบC in cryogenic tanks and is fed to the engine as natural gas in the gaseous state, after being heated in a heat exchanger. The new Stralis LNG contains much more methane, at constant volume, than the CNG solution. This is a safe and entirely "silent" technological revolution with several advantages. Ideal for regional and national distribution missions, such as the transport of fuel, the vehicle is fitted with a 330

hp Cursor 8 natural gas engine, manual gearbox, Intarder, EBS as standard, and can be configured for applications ranging from 18 to 40 tonnes. Thanks to this type of fuel, and to the Cursor 8 engine, noise is reduced by 3 to 6 decibels (to the human ear this is 4 times lower). It is therefore possible to travel at night without disturbing inhabitated areas. Also emissions are reduced CO2 by 10% and NOx by 90% (using biogas CO2 can be reduced by 90% WellToWheel). The reductions also translate into monetary savings. Travelling approximately 40.000 kilometres per year, fuel pump costs fall by around 10 thousand euro

compared to a Diesel vehicle. The development prospects of the Stralis LNG, as the entire natural gas range, are obviously related to the diffusion of the supply network. But with its 750 km range, it will be difficult for the Stralis LNG to run out of fuel. Meanwhile, the European Union directive issued in January for the development of low impact fuels seems to lay the foundations for the development of natural gas. LNG models are also available in the 2 and 3 axle cab versions for city and out-oftown missions with a 16-speed manual transmission and hydraulic retarder or alternatively with a 6-speed automatic

transmission with hydraulic torque converter and integrated retarder. Additionally, the Cursor 8 natural gas engine, complies with the Euro VI emission limits which will come into force from 2014. So get on the road for the next long marathon at full gas.

DAILY AND EUROCARGO IN THE MIDDLE EAST

Iveco and the Iraqi Ministry of Electricity have signed an agreement for the supply of 1660 vehicles in the light and medium range in various configurations, from 3.5 to 18 tonnes. The operation envisages delivery over three years of Daily vans and crew cabs as well as Eurocargo, adapted to ensure the best performance even in extreme weather and road conditions. Most of the vehicles will be fitted with a crane and aerial platform and will be used for the maintenance of power lines in the country. The order forms part of Iveco's expansion plan in Africa and the Middle East, to increase volumes and market share and become, by 2014, one of the leading players in the commercial vehicle sector in these countries.

THE AIR OF THE FUTURE

10

The European Commission has declared 2013 "Year of the Air", demonstrating its commitment to intensify monitoring of the quality of the air that we breathe and to promote new technologies to reduce emissions. As part of 2013 Green Week, Fiat Industrial and its brands organised a workshop entitled "Imagin’Air at the Fiat Industrial Village in Turin– find out how to respect the air you breathe". Around the table, Representatives from local government, personalities from the academic world and Fiat Industrial executives met. Many issues were addressed: from initiatives to reduce emissions in the agricultural and automotive sectors, to the future prospects of sustainable mobility and the impact of heavy vehicles on energy consumption and the environment.

KING OF AFRICA ROARS AGAIN THE

AFRICA SPECIAL

NEW 682: THE KING OF AFRICA ROARS AGAIN

NEW VEHICLE, LOCAL ASSEMBLY PLANTS, EXCLUSIVE DEALERS AND AN EXTENSIVE DEALER AND SUPPORT NETWORK. THIS IS THE IVECO STRATEGY TO SEDUCE THE MOST DYNAMIC CONTINENT ON THE PLANET

Africa, mon amour. Iveco and the black continent are back in love again. A love with roots stretching far back in time and which today returns with the passion for the new 682, the truck which for fifty years travelled the length and breadth of Maghreb and the sub-Saharan territories. The King of Africa, as it is affectionately known near the Equator, is ready for a comeback. And this time it gets back on track with even better performance because it has been designed according to the specific needs of these countries. The eyes of Fabrizio Cordoni, General Manager Sales & Marketing Iveco for Africa&Middle East, sparkle when he thinks of Kinshasa, Luanda and Addis Abeba. For over twenty years Cordoni has been working in these areas, but "every time I land in an African capital I am amazed". In the most dynamic countries of the region economic growth is at the same pace as in China. It is no coincidence that the presence of Beijing looks like an unstoppable avalanche, attracted by the raw materials and the enthusiasm of a very young population. Iveco's objective is to reach second place in the Continent in terms of vehicles sold within three years. And to do so, the Company has set in motion an all-African strategy. "We have built" - says Cordoni - "a tailor-made line up for the continent. And the new 682 is an important piece of this strategy". In twelve months Iveco has grown from a market share of 4 to 8%. And it is still growing. As the local presence continues to develop: "by the end of 2013 we will open another 49 sales outlets, we will complete the dealer network currently totalling 63 and we also plan to become stronger by hiring local staff". In addition to assembly plants in state partnership in Libya and Ethiopia, and collaborations with assemblers in Tunisia and Morocco, in November the joint venture with the Larimar Group was finalised in South Africa which will have an annual production capacity of 7,000 commercial vehicles and 1,000 buses. "To work seriously in Africa" - he explains - "you need to change approach and mentality. Certain companies have an almost colonial approach with hit and run sales and with Africanised European products. We want to grow together with Africa and be present with high performance vehicles such as the new 682, specifically conceived for the local context and to provide appropriate performance to deal with weather and road conditions which at times can be extreme".

12 THE NEW 682 IS ABOUT TO ARRIVE AT THE FIAT INDUSTRIAL VILLAGE: A SAMPLE OF THE VEHICLE WILL IN FACT BE ON DISPLAY IN THE TURIN SHOWROOM WHICH HAS ALL IVECO, CNH AND FPT INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS ON SHOW

ANGOLA by Christian Benna

IT IS WRITTEN LUANDA BUT READ DUBAI

THE NEW INVESTMENT MECCA IS ANGOLA, AFRICA'S SECOND OIL PRODUCER, AND RISING STAR AMONG EMERGING COUNTRIES. IN THE CAPITAL LUANDA, IVECO HAS JUST LAUNCHED THE NEW 682. AND AIMS TO BECOME NUMBER ONE IN THE HEAVY VEHICLE MARKET Imagine a strip of plateaus extending for 1,2m km². A large territory four times the size of Italy, with 1,600 km of coastline, where the mountain ridge does not exceed 2600 metres. This "continent" in a continent is called Angola.

Troubled by twenty years of painful civil war, from 2002 onwards, the country has regained national unity, political stability and has started to run fast. In its waters and in the bowels of the Earth are hidden treasures: a wealth of oil, diamonds and other precious raw materials. Today, Angola is the second largest producer of crude oil in Africa, after Nigeria, but is well placed to take the number one position. Meanwhile, GDP has been growing at 12% in the last 24 months, while prospects are estimated at around 7% per year until 2015. In this context, the poverty rate in the country fell from 63% in 2002 to 38% in 2009, creating, in the more heightened moments of development, up to 300,000 jobs per year. Not bad for a population of just 20 million people, a good half of which are concentrated in Luanda. In this Dubai of Africa, where property prices

are soaring and construction sites are springing up everywhere, Iveco is playing a leading role. At the launch of the new 682 in Luanda on 18 April, official representatives of Iveco and the dealer Vecauto celebrated the return of the King of Africa, in its two and four axle tractor and cab versions. "The first stone was laid in 2009, when Vecauto became sole partner in the country, offering a unique support, service and customer proximity network in Angola, and the result is that since 2009 we are growing and today Vecauto itself has grown, creating the IVECAR group in order to integrate and manage sub dealers", says Alex Rabassa, Export Sales Iveco for Africa&Middle East, who is personally following the evolution of the Angolan market. "An incredible country" - continues Rabassa - "rich in resources and skills with which we are winning the challenge we set ourselves a few years ago. We proposed ourselves as a reliable partner in all phases of the life of a vehicle. A far from easy challenge, because the country is huge and complex. But we were able to develop an extensive and ever present network, both during after sales and service and spare parts, around IVECAR". "The network as a growth engine", a lean but efficient structure and nationwide service. "Vecauto, one of the two subdealers of the group, for example, has sold more than 2000 vehicles and serviced more than 5000 since 2009 . Now is the time to consolidate our presence, in total we currently have five sales outlets across the country, we are second in the heavy vehicle market and are pushing to become number one". According to Rabassa, the new 682 will be the

growth driver that will allow Iveco to overtake competitors. Because "in Africa there are two main market segments but they lie at opposite extremes: the high-range, controlled by the European producers, and the low-range, in which the Chinese and Indians operate. And yet there is a large space in the middle of this market for quality vehicles at reasonable prices. The new 682, produced for Iveco in China but with European standards and with a high percentage of European components, was conceived to occupy this market segment that offers many growth opportunities... we, with the new Iveco 682, offer the most robust cab in circulation, with a towing capacity of up to 60 tonnes, an Iveco CURSOR 9 engine and efficient common-rail fuel supply system. An unbeatable product from every point of view". The African market, unlike what it may seem, is developing along the same lines as other markets, it wants a guaranteed and assisted vehicle at an affordable price. "We have realised that effective management and development of the network produces excellent results and clearly we are collaborating with our dealers to invest in a better network, because this is the key to success". The Chinese, since they landed in Africa, have not developed after sales but have only focussed on selling vehicles, importing labour from China. "Our dealers, on the other hand" - he concludes - "are historic and employ European and local staff". Iveco in Angola not only has the new 682 but also the Powerdaily minibus, Eurocargo, Trakker and Astra. ABOVE: ALEX RABASSA, EXPORT MANAGER IVECO FOR AFRICA&MIDDLE EAST. BELOW: THE "OLD" 682.

IT WAS THE KING OF THE HEAVYWEIGHTS

14

It was the king of the heavyweights. Absolute champion in the 1960s and 1970s, one of those allround tractors for semi-trailers that you do not forget. The 682, the King of Africa, was one of the most popular trucks in the world. In its four N versions, it was able to adapt to every type of road and terrain, even in the most adverse climatic situations. Famous for its cab with “moustache”, the truck had a Fiat 203 six cylinder in line engine. Designed to meet the needs of all extreme missions, even off-road, for loads from 14 to 44 tonnes, this truck earned itself an unmatched reputation in terms of robustness and reliability. So much so that it remained in production for over 36 years and seems to resist the wear and tear of time in many African countries, where it is still a widely used vehicle. The new 682, conceived, designed and engineered in Italy, is produced by Iveco plants in Chongqing. A vehicle, therefore, 100% Made by Iveco, European quality but sold at a competitive price thanks to construction in China. And ready to get back on the road.

SAFETY by Christian Benna

TRAVEL SAFER WITH IVECO AND NEW HOLLAND THE TWO FIAT INDUSTRIAL BRANDS HAVE INITIATED A COLLABORATION WITH THE INTERNATIONAL AUTOMOBILE FEDERATION (FIA) TO SUPPORT, AS OFFICIAL SUPPLIERS, THE FIA CAMPAIGN - ACTION FOR ROAD SAFETY. The first official outing together is marked by safety. Iveco and New Holland Agriculture, two Fiat Industrial brands, have reached a partnership agreement with FIA in support of the FIA campaign - Action for Road Safety.

An agreement that aims to raise awareness and educate in terms of safer driving behaviour. "This is the first Fiat Industrial cross-branding and cross-region initiative involving New Holland and Iveco Parts and Services under the Origin 100% Iveco brand, and including all of our worldwide presence. The advantages of the partnership are joint promotion of the brand, synergies that generate savings by operating together and above all in the communication of those values, such as safety, central to the two Fiat Industrial brands", explains Mauro Veglia, Fiat Industrial Emea Commercial Services & Customer Care Manager. It is no accident that for the first outing of Iveco and New Holland road safety is the topic. "Suffice it to say that New Holland Agriculture was the first

brand to introduce the ABS anti-lock system on its tractors and that Iveco revolutionised safety technology on board the new Stralis HI-Way". This latest arrival among Iveco heavy vehicles adopts the most advanced electronic systems, such as the device that warns the driver of the possibility of a collision and activates the brakes (EBS with Brake Assistant); the alarm that sounds when the vehicle exits the lane lines (Lane Departure Warning System); the system that maintains the cruising speed constant (Adaptive Cruise Control); the side lights that are permanently on (Daytime Running Lights) and the new function that constantly monitors the driver's level of attention (Driver Attention Support). "Moreover" – adds Veglia – "safe vehicles also means vehicles maintained with guaranteed spare parts and this explains the interest of Origin 100% Iveco in the FIA initiative”. A culture of safety that now goes on the race track with the International Automobile Federation. Mauro Veglia explains: "FIA, chaired by Jean Todt, has 300 million members. And among the main areas of intervention it has the so-called “Campaigns”, among which one of the most important is The Action for Road Safety which aims to help save five million lives by 2020, drastically reducing road traffic accidents". In fact, every year 1.3 million people throughout the world lose their lives on the roads. More than due to diseases such as malaria. And 50 million people are involved in accidents with serious consequences to their lives. "On-board technology is an essential support but we must also promote

proper driving behaviour". In this regard, Iveco, Origin 100% Iveco and New Holland Agriculture with FIA-Action for Road Safety are promoting the Golden Rules, virtuous driving behaviour valid for both driving professionals and everyone else, motorists or motorcyclists, who use the roads. To spread the safety culture, Iveco provides, on FIA World Touring Car Championship race tracks, a Stralis Hi-Way which, as Safety Truck, opens all competitions. During the WTCC, an "Iveco hospitality" vehicle is provided as a meeting place dedicated to safety. Also the New Holland T7 Auto Command takes to the track, as it did for the first leg of the WTCC in Monza, and will also do so in Japan. "The WTCC" – continues Veglia – "has a global audience of approximately 500 million people. The issue of safety will remain imprinted in the memory of viewers, as too will the strength of our brands in developing cutting-edge technologies". The safety issue does not end on the race track. The virtuous circle started by the initiative has already led a number of transport companies, such as Maier in Austria, to seek contact with Iveco to reward the best drivers. Drivers who drove carefully, thus reducing the risk of accidents, reducing fuel consumption and also saving on insurance premiums, received from Iveco tickets to attend WTCC races.

FOR RESPONSIBLE DRIVING

16

Iveco and New Holland are supporting the “Action for Road Safety” campaign which FIA (International Automobile Federation) is promoting on race tracks of the WTCC, the touring car championship. The objective of the initiative is to raise awareness and educate drivers in terms of safer driving behaviour, it also includes the development of automotive safety systems and new technologies for road traffic management. So, on FIA World Touring Car Championship race tracks, Iveco provides a Stralis Hi-Way Safety Truck which opens the races and an Iveco Hospitality truck used as a meeting place. The Iveco and New Holland initiative has been enthusiastically received by WTCC enthusiasts and has a broad following on social networks. Prominent names among the campaign testimonial drivers: Emerson Fittipaldi, Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, Sebastien Loeb, Yvan Muller and Monisha Kaltenborn. At the Salzburg stage, which took place in May, 100 square metres of Iveco and New Holland display area attracted the attention of numerous visitors who received complimentary catalogues, posters and caps.

MOTOGP CHAMPIONSHIP by Nicola Grande

WE MOVE THE MOTOGP CHAMPIONSHIP

IN 2013 ALSO, IVECO IS THE OFFICIAL SPONSOR OF THE MOTOGP CHAMPIONSHIP AND YAMAHA FACTORY RACING TEAM. A LONGSTANDING RELATIONSHIP IN A SPORT ABLE TO STIR STRONG EMOTIONS. When one talks of MOTOGP, one talks of sporting passion, cutting-edge performance, rider charisma and bike technology pushed to the limit. A championship for true enthusiasts which, however, manages to capture the attention of “non experts” thanks to a winning formula in terms of visibility and notoriety. A history and a reputation that has been built over the years, along with the charisma and enterprises of legendary riders. For all these reasons, each year there are millions of viewers sitting in front of the television to watch the MOTOGP spectacle (more than 30 million for each race). So, in 2013 also, Iveco's contribution to the Championship could not be missing, as Truck & Commercial Vehicle Supplier providing four Dailys and thirteen new orange-coloured Stralis Hi-Ways to Dorna Sport (the company that takes care of the organisation of the MotoGP Championship). To complete and consolidate its relationship with this fascinating and enthralling sport, Iveco is also the Title Sponsor of two MOTOGP races particularly appreciated by the public for the outstanding tracks: the “IVECO TT Assen 2013” held on 29 June in the Netherlands and the “Gran Premio IVECO de Aragon 2013”, that will take place on 29 September in Spain.

Also, this year the partnership with the Yamaha Factory Racing Team has been renewed. The team of the reigning world champion, Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo, sees the return of Valentino Rossi who has in the past won four world titles with team Yamaha. To transport the bikes, workshops, mobile offices and Yamaha personnel, Iveco will provide the team with seven new Stralis, four of which will be Hi-Way's and one Daily van.

IVECO AND SPORT A HISTORY OF SUCCESS AND VICTORY

The alliance between Iveco and motorsport has a long tradition of success thanks to the innovative vision of the association between business and sport to increase the notoriety and reputation of the brand. Back in 1981, Iveco won the first edition of the 24 hours of Le Mans for trucks in front of 60,000 spectators, a performance to be repeated in 1983. In the same year it is alongside Toleman Formula 1 team. The three-year period 1983-1986 was characterised by participation in the great raids: two editions of Paris-Dakar, the Rally of the Pharaohs and the Venice-Beijing Raid, in 1985. Again in the 80s Iveco participated in the offshore powerboat Championships with a fleet of boats powered by Iveco Aifo. In 1995 the great Overland adventure began with the first expedition from Rome to New York. 1997 was the year of the debut in the Paris-Samarcanda-Moscow "Master Rally", Iveco winning the highest position on the podium with Miki Biasion, first among the mass-production commercial vehicles. In 2002 Iveco's sporting activity returned with the Overland 6 expedition and the Dakar adventure began with a private driver driving a Eurocargo 4x4 and in 2003 with a Eurotrakker 4x4. Iveco was again successful in the Dakar in 2005 with two Eurocargo 4x4 driven by Markku Alén and Miki Biasion. The Iveco Trakker triumphed in the Rally of the Pharaohs in 2006 with Giacomo Vismara. In 2007 the Trakker came 12th in the Dakar while it was second in 2007 and first in 2008 in the Bahia de Espana. In 2010 sponsorship of the MOTOGP was initiated with the supply of vehicles and logistical support. The story of the Iveco Petronas De Rooy Team in the Dakar, with the triumphant conquest of first place in the 2012 Edition, started in 2011. And so here we are to date: Iveco and New Holland Agriculture started a partnership with the International Automobile Federation (FIA) to support, as “Official Suppliers”, the FIA Action for Road Safety campaign. The agreement envisages the launch of joint activities to disseminate a message on safety and correct behaviour on the road. Iveco and New Holland Agriculture are the first manufacturers of commercial vehicles and agricultural machinery to support the initiative and will exploit their respective networks to expand it.

COMMUNICATION by Carlo Fiorino

STARTING OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOT

THE CREATIVITY OF THE NEW IVECO CAMPAIGNS ESTABLISHES AN INNOVATIVE WAY OF COMMUNICATING. ALL FOCUSED ON MADE IN ITALY, ORIGINALITY AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

To enhance and emphasise the quality and comfort of the new Stralis Hi-Way, Iveco wanted to capture attention by focusing on luxury, promoting in an impactful and hyperbolic manner the concept of “Upper Class Cabs”: three five-star hotel rooms with designs ranging from modern to Baroque are the protagonists of the same number of advertising pages. In the settings, items of daily use of the target audience inside the cabs create the link with the driving area of the new Stralis Hi-Way. The campaign has been in international trade and lifestyle publications, in addition to road billboards in the main Italian motorway service areas.

millions of Italians who are about to face a new challenging day's work, stressing the leading role played by our trucks in the distribution of commercial goods and products. Positivity, Italian goodness and excellence to start off in right spirit. And all of this is made possible by the commitment of Ferrero in making a sweet tooth “legend” and Iveco in manufacturing reliable vehicles bringing it right to our tables". The sample project that garnered so much success will soon be replicated, also internationally, and in association with other brands representing “Made in Italy” excellence. The campaign will also participate in the “Cannes Advertising Festival” along with another multi-subject advertising initiative dedicated to the new Stralis Hi-Way, created by the Iveco “Brand Communication Team”.

Two weeks of roadside advertising in one of the busiest spots of Milan (more than one million vehicles per day) was enough to create unprecedented media resonance. Also because it was a unique and very special project. Anyone who was passing along Viale Stephenson in Milan was, in fact, able to see a 3D display combining two major Made in Italy brands - Iveco and Ferrero - through one of the most well-known products: Nutella. The brands have used billboard advertising to say good morning to motorists and truckers with the headline "Buongiorno Italia!" and the image of a new Stralis Hi-Way with a smiling female face on the trailer holding a jar of Nutella. "A positive and joyful message", - underlines Marco Monacelli, Sales & Marketing Brand Communication Director Iveco - "expressing a feeling of confidence to

A “SOCIAL” SUCCESS The hoarding "Buongiorno Italia!" implemented in Milan was also used as an image on the home page of Iveco's profile on Facebook with over 30 thousand “likes” of fans and admirers of the brand. The post was shared on Iveco social channels generating a positive viral effect thanks to the hundreds of shares. Numerous also were the international comments on the initiative on Facebook.

SOCIAL NETWORKS by Christian Benna

THE WORLD OF IVECO USED VEHICLES IS YOUR NEW FRIEND ON FACE IVECO'S INTERNET CAMPAIGN UPDATES CUSTOMERS ON THE OFFER OF SECOND-HAND VEHICLES. THUS SOCIAL NETWORKS BECOME A SALES TOOL

20

Add Iveco Used Vehicles as a friend on Facebook. It's worth having it in your network of contacts. Also, follow its tracks on Linkedin and Twitter. Because the social revolution of second-hand commercial and heavy vehicles promises safe business and the possibility to find the vehicle you are looking for. The new development is the brainchild of the Iveco Used Vehicles Department, which since January has started to convey its offer through social networks. "The second-hand market is a very particular business" - says Paolo Biginelli, Direct Marketing Used Vehicles, who is personally following the Iveco social network campaign. "Our customer base is very varied: it includes the small operator who closely follows the most attractive offers as well as the big trader selling vehicles throughout Europe and especially in Africa and the Middle East". And he points out: "We try to use social networks to get closer to all these people, using multimedia material, recounting anecdotes and promoting special offers that we receive from our

ACEBOOK 20 used-vehicle centres worldwide". Iveco Used Vehicles represent a market with significant volumes, from 12 to 15 thousand units sold each year. "In the first half of 2013" – says Antonino Brancato, Used Vehicles director – "we are seeing strong recovery, a sign that SMEs are starting to invest. On the heavy vehicles, however, the market remains outside Europe". Large fleets are renewed every four years. Driven by the need to be more efficient, but also because the increasingly stringent EU terms on transport pollution require trucks to keep up with green technologies. The Iveco Used Vehicle fleet is available on the www.iveco-used.it website and in magazines such as Truck Supermarket. On Facebook, there are photos of special heavy vehicles, maybe hard to find, such as a vehicle suitable for special transport parked in the Iveco centre in Piacenza, or the particularly attractive offer of the new Iveco centre in Romania. "A few weeks ago" - recalls Paolo Biginelli - "the owner of a Polish firm intrigued by a vehicle that we had posted on Facebook asked for

information. This led to an exchange of emails eventually culminating in the sale of 20 vehicles". 80% of contacts on social networks come from Africa, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. The great interest in this market will lead Iveco Used Vehicles to continue to invest in social networks and to also develop a platform for online auctions. Because a Facebook a friend/contact is worth his/her weight in gold.

THE WORKSHOP OF THE FUTURE by Nicola Grande

WHAT WILL THE WORKSHOP OF THE FUTURE BE LIKE? IVECO PARTS & SERVICE IDENTIFIES NEW TRENDS IN MANAGING THE AFTER-SALES SERVICE OF COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL VEHICLES During the 25th edition of Autopromotec, automotive equipment and aftermarket exhibition which takes place every two years in Bologna, Iveco presented the most innovative onboard equipment that will have a significant impact on after-sales products and services. Presenting the future “workshop concept was Dino Maggioni, President Parts & Service of Fiat Industrial.

22

"The repair world over the next few years will see a more structured use of the diagnostic, management and repair processes that will be optimised through the use of technological and digital supports that take advantage of the information provided by the vehicle. All this thanks to the use of increasingly highperformance telematics". This is how Maggioni opened his speech at the inaugural conference of the Exhibition. We asked him why the Autopromotec Exhibition had been chosen to talk about the Workshop of the Future. Every two years the major players in the independent aftermarket can be found at Autopromotec. Therefore, Iveco Parts & Service, as part of the Truck Service initiative, wanted to reaffirm its mission, its values and share them with the network of authorised dealers and workshops, to the total benefit of satisfaction of Iveco customers. That's why we were there with a strong message of market presence. What therefore is the Parts & Service vision of the Workshop of the Future? We will see a paradigm shift after sales. There will be a transition from selling products to selling services with an increasing role of telematics. The workshop of the future will receive information directly from the

vehicle and will be able to plan in advance the necessary interventions and products or spare parts required to repair the vehicle, with the aim of creating efficiency and reducing VOR (Vehicle Off Road) downtime. It will also be able to perform predictive and prognostic diagnosis by analysing the vital parameters of the vehicle, as is the case for example with telemetry in Formula 1, preventing possible faults. How much telematics will there be on Iveco commercial vehicles? All Fiat Industrial vehicles, including therefore those produced by Iveco, will be equipped with a telematic node to allow connection with other vehicles, fleet managers and workshops. For Iveco, the new IVECONNECT system available on the Stralis Hi-Way is a concrete example of how to take full advantage of the potential of telematics. This is a device created in collaboration with Magneti Marelli and Qualcomm/Omnitracs that integrates infotainment, navigation, driver assistance and fleet management services. An interesting solution for fleets. I would certainly say so. The interaction between driver, vehicle and operations centre will allow all vehicles to be kept under control, checking in real time driving hours, fuel consumption, GPS location and expected journey times. It also allows automatic management of legal obligations concerning the downloading, storage and management of data from the tachograph and driver cards, in addition to providing a valuable aid to the driver in driving economy. And how will workshops be involved? Workshops will be able to directly communicate with the control units and telematics devices on board the vehicles. This is an important change in terms of culture and approach to support services: in case of difficulty, the workshop will have real-time access to information on the vehicle and on the fault in order to intervene more quickly, accurately and efficiently. This is how the repair process paradigm will change. For some time now we have been training our network with courses dedicated to the diagnosis and management of repair processes, also with targeted sections devoted to telematics. What are the benefits deriving from the use of telematics? In the truck sector a piece of data kept constantly under observation by fleet companies and vehicle owners is what

determines the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), the total cost resulting from use of the vehicle. With telematics you can also intervene in redefining TCOs thanks to more precise management of maintenance and repair with consequent optimisation of logistics, reduction in consumption and VOR downtimes. Telematics will allow us to create a competitive advantage that will be exploited by the support network to create customer loyalty. On the road, however, there are not only Iveco vehicles and authorised workshops, how can the project be developed? The technology offered by Fiat Industrial is and will be available not only as original equipment but also in the aftermarket to also equip older vehicles with new business opportunities for the network. We are aware that there is still a long way to go, given that the players involved for the success of the project are many. In the automotive sector telematic boxes have been around for a long time, used for insurance purposes with reductions on the cost of insurance policies. This is an example of how, once the benefits deriving from the use of telematics have been understood and the objectives shared, real benefits can be obtained. I am convinced that the process, once activated, cannot be stopped and those who will be able to anticipate needs by providing enabling technologies for greater efficiency in maintenance and repair processes will have an important competitive advantage. We are ready and Iveconnect is proof of this.

THE 25TH EDITION OF AUTOPROMOTEC HAD RECORD ATTENDANCE: 1,512 EXHIBITORS (OF WHICH 39% FOREIGN), AN EXHIBITION AREA OF 156.000 SQUARE METRES (OF WHICH APPROXIMATELY 20,000 OUTSIDE) AND 102.536 VISITORS.

THE TELEMATIC STRALIS

Connected with the Stralis Hi-Way CAN network, IVECONNECT developed by Magneti Marelli in co-operation with Iveco and Qualcomm/Omnitracs, communicates with the on-board control unit and interfaces in real-time with the DRIVER ATTENTION SUPPORT safety device, with the IVECONNECT DRIVE and IVECONNECT FLEET advanced fleet management systems and with the DRIVING STYLE EVALUATION efficient driving system. In particular, analysing consumption figures from the engine control unit concerning consumption, the DRIVING STYLE EVALUATION system acts as a driving instructor always at your disposal. An efficient driving style, in fact, can generate fuel savings ranging from 5% to 12%, more than any other technological solution. To improve driver performance the system processes the data acquired from the engine, vehicle and GPS through an algorithm developed by Iveco, and provides two views on the display in real time. The first refers to the evaluation of driving style adopted by the driver, while the second provides suggestions for reducing fuel consumption. IVECONNECT, in addition, also provides access to the NON-STOP ASSISTANCE (ANS24) service. By pressing a button located on the device, the driver can request the intervention of the Iveco Customer Center, which receives directly from the system the vehicle's GPS position and diagnostics on the reasons for the breakdown and contacts the nearest workshop to provide immediate support. IVECONNECT FEATURES: - 7" touch screen; - Bluetooth Connection with steering wheel controls; - Audio system with radio and CD player - USB socket compatible with iPod/iPhone and MP3 files; - AUX/video socket, - Satellite navigator; - DRIVER ATTENTION SUPPORT; - DRIVING STYLE EVALUATION; - IVECONNECT DRIVE; - IVECONNECT FLEET.

FROM FORMULA 1 TO COMMERCIAL VEHICLES

The "telematic box" is an electronic control unit that combines a GSM/GPRS module for wireless connection with communication networks, a multi-constellation GPS/Galileo/Glonass module for satellite location of the vehicle and a 3-axis accelerometer to detect the acceleration and braking parameters associated with the direction. It performs various functions, including remote diagnosis of the vehicle (telediagnosis) and logistics and commercial vehicle fleet management. Telematics represents a concrete application of technologies tested in motorsports and then used in mass production. Used in races, and in particular in Formula 1, for the transmission of data and parameters (several thousand pieces of information simultaneously) concerning the functioning of the car in the pits, telematics used on mass-produced vehicles aims to optimise resources and actually create a sustainable mobility system for monitoring vehicle use aimed at reducing consumption, emissions and operating costs.
