The long-awaited moment is about to come: The readers of Iveco Plus are being given a sneak preview of the new Daily, which will be officially presented at the start of June. The third generation of the vehicle is the result of a perfect synthesis of tradition and innovation, which makes the New Daily a genuinely new vehicle. It continues to encapsulate the qualities that for over 35 years have made it the undisputed market leader: power, versatility, reliability. To these are added a new architecture that optimises the space, a new original and modern design and also new interiors for comfort similar to that of a car, a new suspension that enhances performance and weighs less, without forgetting the high performance engines that are now even more environmentally friendly. These are all features that - it is not difficult to imagine – will make the new Daily the preferred work companion of freight transport professionals even in the years to come, just as it has been since 1978, the year it made its dÊbut, up until today. We would like to inform our readers that after the preview in this issue the new next issue will be completely dedicated to the new vehicle. We will take a close look at it and unveil its winning features. We are convinced that this information will be helpful in promoting and selling our product. In the following pages, however, we wanted to build a bridge between the past and the future with an example of what our Daily already can do today. The most novel story comes from South Africa, where some vehicles have reached the milestone of one million kilometres, strong and unflappable despite having to face the almost impassable terrain of the African continent. A story that tells us what this model can do and how reliable it really is. Ample space is given also to Turkey, a country that is responding positively to our commercial policies, becoming more important each day. Even before the arrival of the new Daily, Iveco could still boast of a fresh and recently renovated range. Just in the last few months it has redesigned two of its most popular models: the Eurocargo and the Trakker. There is an extensive article about the latter: we interviewed a client who told us in person how the new vehicle provided him with a clear improvement in terms of the quality of his work. Our mission, then, was accomplished. We hope you enjoy reading it. Maurizio Pignata

D-DAY: THE NEW DAILY 2014 IS ON ITS WAY, THE BEST EVER
A TOTALLY REDESIGNED VEHICLE THAT SATISFIES ALL THE NEEDS OF LIGHT COMMERCIAL VEHICLE TRANSPORT: FROM A ROBUST CHASSIS CAB TO A MORE SPACIOUS VAN WITH IMPROVED MANOEUVRABILITY The third generation of the Iveco Daily, which will soon make its arrival in markets across Europe, will be presented to the international press in June 2014.

This entirely new vehicle is the result of the perfect blend between tradition and innovation, making it the preferred working companion for professional transport operators. The vehicle is manufactured at plants in Suzzara, Italy and Valladolid, Spain, two facilities where Iveco has recently made significant investments in upgrading its production line technology.
The new Daily still retains its classic ladder frame chassis structure, which ensures strength, flexibility, and longterm durability, as well as greater ease of configuration for chassis cab models, but there are also numerous new features that the Daily 2014 offers Iveco customers. The company’s planning efforts concentrated on both versions, chassis cab and van. On the van in particular,
performance from every aspect in terms of handling and carrying capacity has been improved, thanks to optimised load volumes, and ease of use with a more accessible cargo bed. The van’s capacity has been improved through the reassessment of the relationship between wheelbase, overall length, and the length of the cargo bed. This gives way to the new 18 and 20 m3 models (best in class for volume) and the 11 m3 model (best in class for cargo efficiency - an index that measures the relationship between the length of the loading compartment with the total length of the vehicle). Thanks to the new design, with elongated wheelbases and a shortened rear overhang, the new Daily guarantees excellent driveability without compromising its well-known agility in tight spaces. All models up to 3.5 tonnes are equipped with new front suspensions, which afford excellent control of the vehicle and allow for an improvement in comfort and for the maximum possible load capacity. A
new rear suspension layout has been designed for single wheel drive models that decreases the height of the loading platform by an estimated 55 millimetres, thereby simplifying loading and unloading operations. The third generation of the Daily is strongly oriented towards businesses, delivering more than a 5% fuel consumption saving compared with the previous model. This is combined with a significant improvement in Total Cost of Ownership for the vehicle, together with best in class performance and a wide choice of engines, transmissions and axle ratios. The on-board experience has also been greatly improved with a cabin that offers new levels of comfort and noise insulation, guaranteeing the same driving position and feel that is typical of a high-performing automobile. Interior ergonomics (at the top of the range in their category) accompany greater soundproofing, a more efficient air conditioning system and excellent driver comfort for all load conditions.
Strong by nature, versatile, and easy to drive, and also attractive thanks to its fresh and modern styling, the new Daily is the most concrete illustration of the continuous improvement of a product that has been a key player in the history of light commercial vehicle transport for more than 35 years. To complete its offering, the new Daily will also be available in a variety of minibus versions to meet the needs of customers who operate in the passenger transportation sector, both in urban areas and for rapid transfers outside of urban networks.

DAILY BREAKING RECORDS ON THE ROAD AND ON THE WEB
MORE THAN A MILLION KILOMETRES AND STILL ON THE ROAD. THIS IS THE STORY OF THE IVECO MINIBUSES THAT FACE EXTREMELY LONG JOURNEYS EACH DAY TO TRANSPORT PASSENGERS FROM SOUTH AFRICA TO NAMIBIA. AN INSPIRATION FOR MAKING A SUCCESSFUL VIDEO TESTIFYING TO THE QUALITY OF THE DAILY A million kilometres and not feeling them. It can happen, if it is a Daily Iveco. Like the Minibus version that at six o'clock precisely each morning leaves Johannesburg, in South Africa, destination Windhoek, in Namibia. A thousand kilometres a day. This way you quickly reach a million kilometres: a record distance, but for this Daily, produced in Iveco factories, this is simply routine. Everything started with a phone call from an Iveco dealer in Namibia. A customer was complaining about a problem with the odometer of his Daily Minibus. After a quick check, the dealer reassured the customer ascertaining that the vehicle had "only" exceeded the maximum distance indicated on the instrument: 999,999 kilometres. An extremely large number and not limited to a single isolated case.
6
In South Africa, in fact, there are 25 Iveco Daily Minibuses, belonging to 13 clients, that have gone a million kilometres. Just to give an idea, a million kilometres is equal to going round the world 25 times. Not bad, and for these minibuses retirement is still some way off, since they keep covering their thousand kilometres every day on roads and dirt tracks, across cities, savannah and deserts. Without any problems. In Southern Africa there are few public transport infrastructures, so passengers rely on small companies that mostly use the 22-seat minibus version of our Daily to travel long distances. In general these family companies have two vehicles. They are very normal vehicles, but all of them are fitted with a trailer for luggage. So, in addition to travelling often with a full load, the Daily also has to pull a
trailer. In 2013 overall almost a thousand Iveco Daily were sold, for the most part the Minibus version. They are really appreciated because of their reliability and sturdiness. In South Africa the roads are good, but it is not like that everywhere. And many routes alternate asphalt roads with genuine dirt tracks. Given the importance of the news, it was immediately decided to make a video of the story, a real short film made in collaboration with the Independent Ideas agency, which managed to condense all the values of Daily into a few minutes: strength, reliability, sturdiness and performance. It is the story of sacrifice, emotions and kilometres that twenty-five Iveco Daily trucks have in common. The video is hugely popular on Youtube and the social networks with over 180 thousand views in less than a week and ten thousand posts on the official Iveco page on Facebook, which today has almost 420 thousand fans. The short film shows the story of the Minibus, from its departure in Soweto, the working class suburb of Johannesburg, up to an unpredictable and entertaining epilogue. With some cinematographic license, of course. Like the Daily that appears new, shining and immaculate while it makes its way along a dirty road in the middle of the savannah, a few metres from zebras, giraffes and elephants. The story that inspired it, however, is true. And, above all, the message in the title of the film is true: “Iveco Daily. "Like new, after a million kilometres. The video is also an innovative way of thanking the customers who use the Minibuses in South Africa every day, and who have chosen Iveco because of its reliability and comfort.
THE DAILY 4x4 USED BY THE IVECO DE ROOY PETRONAS TEAM FOR RAPID ASSISTANCE AT THE DAKAR 2014
This is not the first time that the Daily has demonstrated its qualities. Since 1978 the Iveco Daily has been the leading player in the European and global light transport sector. Right from the very first version, the vehicle has established new records, each time anticipating the market and becoming the reference point of innovation in the light commercial vehicles sector, also on the occasion of extreme events like during the Dakar 2014, where a Daily 4x4 travelled the roads of South America as a rapid assistance vehicle for the Iveco De Rooy Petronas team and, again, it was a Daily 4x4 testifying to the Overland African adventures. A vehicle with a strong DNA, which deservedly gained the description “Strong by Nature”.
7 THE PROTAGONISTS OF THIS RECORD ARE THE IVECO DAILY MINIBUSES FROM 2006 UP TO 2012 CHOSEN FOR ITS CHASSIS WITH SIDE MEMBERS THAT ENSURE STRUCTURAL RIGIDITY, BUT ALSO FOR ITS FATIGUE RESISTANCE, IN PARTICULAR ON DIFFICULT TERRAIN LIKE THAT IN AFRICA, AND ITS DURABILITY.
BUSINESS PROSPECTS by Sara Buosi
IVECO AIMS AT DOUBLING VOLUMES IN AFRICA
A CONVENTION AT CNH INDUSTRIAL VILLAGE AT THE START OF MARCH DREW OVER 300 DEALERS, OUTFITTERS AND CUSTOMERS. IVECO PLUS INTERVIEWED LUCA SRA, THE COMMERCIAL MANAGER FOR AFRICA & THE MIDDLE EAST, FOR AN ANALYSIS OF THE SCENARIO UNDERLYING IVECO'S BUSINESS IN THE STRATEGIC AREA OF THE AFRICAN CONTINENT AND THE MIDDLE EAST. What are the business prospects for Iveco in Africa & the Middle East? Within the EMEA territories, where in recent years on the European part the state of the market has not been favourable, Africa and the Middle East represent a hugely important market, which in 2013 we estimate to be about 250 thousand light, medium and heavy, and with growth that we believe will be constant, between 5 and 7% in the next five years. A market that is of strategic importance to Iveco, thanks to its extremely versatile range of vehicles. Numerous positive signs for Iveco already emerged last year with the sale of about 12 thousand vehicles, compared to an average in the last five years of around 8 - 9 thousand vehicles. The goal is to double volumes by 2018. How will Iveco try and achieve this
8
objective in the next five years? There are three decisive factors : the development of a robust sales and substantial support network, localisation and the product. Growth requires a plan for developing the existing network and plan aimed at improving coverage and an improved level of services, through new collaborations with great partners. They are two enormous continents, with huge opportunities. Our aim is to stimulate the ambition of local companies who want to support our growth and also get our support for their growth, also through the assignment of new dealerships. This is a path that we started upon some years ago already and thanks to which last year twenty-nine new dealerships and forty new points of sales were appointed. Before you mentioned localisation as one of the crucial factors for developing Iveco in the area. Why?
To be localised is certainly an advantage because, for example, it allows you to get rid of the barriers against importing vehicles and therefore to avoid customs duties, and which also entails considerable benefits deriving from agreements with neighbouring countries. In short, localisation is important for being able to benefit from synergies, counting on the network of suppliers, working with a product suited to the use in those areas, with the clear goal of increasing volumes and the market positioning of Iveco. African markets change rapidly, with economic and governmental situations that evolve extremely quickly. Localising, then, means being able to rely on the strong presence of local partners or importers, and where it is necessary to start up assembly initiatives. Today Iveco already assembles vehicles in Morocco, in Tunisia, in Ethiopia in Addis Ababa and soon also the factory in Rosslyn, in South Africa will be added to the list, a plant that will allow us to increase volumes and improve Iveco's position on the South African market, and more generally in SACU markets (the five countries of the Southern African Customs Union). Another extremely important factor is without doubt the product itself. Yes, localising and developing the network are crucial, but it is also important to work on the products. If we want to create sustainable development of this area, we need to take into account its peculiarities. The AME market is essentially made up of heavy vehicles, because of the road conditions and the quarry business. This is why our sustainable growth should be based on consolidating the reputation of our European vehicles in this area, with a focus on heavy vehicles and on quarry-construction sites. Starting, therefore, with the new Trakker, a product that perfectly combines the characteristics of reliability, sturdiness and safety, which make it the ideal solution for daily use and for the most demanding challenges on rough and uneven terrain, like that of Africa; and the Astra range with the heavy HD9 and the super-heavy HHD9, to respond to the particularly challenging uses both on roads and for off-road jobs. All the way up to the Daily, which has won serious acclaim also in Africa. Just recently we told the story of these Iveco commercial vehicles that have travelled a million kilometres, each day going enormous distances on roads that are often unpaved and full of hidden dangers, in
South Africa. This is an extremely positive story that is part of the DNA of the Daily and that provide further confirmation of the total reliability, durability and sturdiness of this vehicle. A vehicle that, in fact, has made history and that has led to the success of Iveco and that will certainly continue to determine the future of our company. Another important part of our product strategy in Africa is the 682, the King of Africa, the truck that has journeyed the roads of the Maghreb and sub-Saharan territories for fifty years, and which is still today going strong, since it was designed for the specific requirements of these countries. Lastly, an important role is played by the Leoncino, the famous vehicle of the Iveco light range for markets in Africa and in the Middle East. The Leoncino will continue with the development of a new cab over, which the company is working on to take on the most qualified competitors and which will take into account the huge experience and legacy of this vehicle. In March Iveco organised the Africa and Middle East convention. What were the key elements discussed during the two days? The Africa & Middle East convention was a huge opportunity because since about six years Iveco has not directly addressed importers in a structured manner. The recurring theme of the meeting was that of partnership: very often these three core components - importers, body builders and key accounts - are thought of as factors that act separately. We sought to understand and make these groups themselves understand that these three components should travel a common path. To be successful at selling it is necessary to have reliable outfitters throughout the territory. The outfitter, in his turn, needs a vehicle flexibility and easy body mounting that we can provide for the Daily, with the Eurocargo and the other products in our range. And then there are the big customers that invest and develop in that area: we want to be part of their success. The convention was, then, an important event, also in light of the period of change that our Group is going through, to testify to our engagement in these parts of the world.

TURKEY HAS CHOSEN IVECO
DURING 2013 THE COMPANY STRENGTHENED ITS MARKET PRESENCE. IN PARTICULAR, SALES OF THE DAILY HAVE GROWN. A SUCCESS ENDORSED ALSO AT THE ISTANBUL FAIR Founded in 2008, Iveco Turkey brought a wide range of industrial vehicles to this country that bridges Europe and Asia. From that year growth has been constant,
the Stralis Hi-Way, the new 9 ton Eurocargo and the Iveco Astra HD9. The new CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) Stralis was also introduced to the public.
reinforced by a large presence in the country. Also the product range has been expanded, and in 2013 new important products were introduced. The real highlight of last year was the participation at the prestigious commercial vehicles, buses and components trade show (COMVEX) in Istanbul at the end of the year. The event was an excellent opportunity for the over three thousand customers, existing and potential, who visited the stand to discover the best of the range of Iveco vehicles, in addition to the new models like
The world leader in the use of CNG technology in freight transportation, Iveco was the first to introduce CNG powered vehicles in Turkey, gaining an important position in the country's sector thanks to its technical knowledge and the widest and most advanced range of CNG powered vehicles. In 2013, Iveco also strengthened its distribution network by inserting two new dealers with the aim of further increasing sales and improving its customer assistance service. With the new engagements, Iveco has a team of 35 people on the Turkish
market, who work closely with a network of 21 dealers and 49 workshops. Commitment and the continual work undertaken to provide better products and services for its customers, has quickly made Iveco a leading player also in the sectors of logistics and transportation. Recently, the Iveco dealer Üstun-Is has undertaken to supply 10 Stralis Hi-Way to Nurlog, a logistics company operating in south-eastern Turkey and in Iraq. Also the logistics company Öztürkler has chosen Iveco for renovating and expanding its fleet of 350 vehicles, with 16 new Stralis Hi-Road and a further 16 vehicles to be delivered in 2014. Today Iveco holds second place in the medium market segment. Since 2008 the market share has continually grown, even at a time when demand has been shrinking. Last year Iveco's largest growth in terms of market share was attained by the 3.5 ton Daily, which increased by 3 points. For the upcoming year, Iveco has particularly ambitious and challenging plans for improving the results of 2013 and, even in such a volatile market, to strengthen its performance by continuing to raise the bar for sales and customer assistance.

THE ISTANBUL SHOW PROTAGONISTS AT COMVEX EXPO IVECO presented its range of products at the COMVEX Expo, the prestigious show for commercial vehicles, buses and components that was held in Istanbul at the end of 2013. The event was the first important occasion in Turkey, in the ambit of the new local organisation of CNH Industrial, and endorsed the close and profitable collaboration between the teams of Turin and Lugano and their Iveco colleagues in
and gained considerable coverage in the sector's most important journals. The Iveco stand The Stralis Hi-Way, the “Truck of the Year 2013”, had pride of place among the wide range of products exhibited, together with the new CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) version of the Stralis, and the new 9 ton Eurocargo model, both presented for the first time in the country. Completing the models on display was the new Astra HD9
engine and a 16 speed ZF gearbox. The large Eurocargo range was further expanded with a 9 ton version in the low part of the range, currently composed of five models for the market, 9, 12, 15, 16 and 18 tons. The 9 ton model exhibited at the show is equipped with a 180 hp, 4-cylinder Tector engine: the right solution for customers looking for the stability and comfort of the Eurocargo for short trips, where 9 tons

Istanbul. The team of Marco Rimondi, CNH Industrial Commercial Service Manager for the Asia Pacific Region (APAC) and Domenico Gostoli, Iveco APAC Sales & Marketing Manager, operated with the group of Maurizio Manera, the person in charge of Iveco in Turkey. At a difficult time for the commercial vehicles sector, the presence of Iveco at the COMVEX Expo in Istanbul was a tangible sign of the company's total commitment to improving its position in a key market like that of Turkey. COMVEX Expo is the country's most important show for commercial vehicles. During the show, which is visited by about 35 thousand people each year, the Iveco stand had over two thousand visitors and 250 important customers in three days. The press conference aroused the interest of the medium commercial companies
for heavy duty work, a vehicle presented in Turkey for the first time. The Stralis Hi-Way stood out with its significant reduction in the Total Cost of Ownership, its low fuel consumption engines developed by FPT Industrial and its new on-board telematics. This vehicle captured the attention of the visitors. Also capturing the public's interest were the promotional activities that took place during the year, starting with the tour of the new model throughput the country. A global leader in the use of CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) in road haulage, Iveco offers the broadest and most technologically advanced range of products powered by CNG, from light commercial vehicles to medium class vehicles, from buses to heavy duty vehicles. The latest innovation in this field consists of the CNG powered tractor, exhibited at the COMVEX Expo: the Stralis with a 330 HP CNG powered
are sufficient. The Iveco Astra was also at the stand (a brand that is very well known in international construction and earthmoving sectors because of the vast array of on-road, off-road and tilting trucks) with the new, 520 HP, 13 litre FPT Industrial Cursor HD9 engine. At the press conference, Maurizio Manera said: «Iveco can satisfy all the requirements of freight transportation companies, thanks to its wide range of high-tech vehicles. From when it was first founded in Turkey in 2008, Iveco has been constantly increasing its market share. In 2012, the company improved its market performance by about 10% compared to the previous year, gaining third place among the leading companies in the commercial vehicle and motor vehicle sectors in the country. Today Iveco is one of the leading companies with the well-known Daily and
Eurocargo ranges; it is now committed to further consolidating its results in the ambit of the heavy duty vehicle line. We can rely on our range of products and on a strong network composed of 21 dealerships and 49 workshops. We are continually strengthening our network - just recently a new dealership was opened in Gaziantep - and introducing new products so that we can provide a better service for our customers». The exhibition of CNG vehicles at the COMVEX Expo is part of a broader plan that aims to focus the attention of our customers on the technology of the high-end Iveco range, placing particular attention on alternative fuels, a sector in which Iveco is currently the European leader.

VISITING TURIN
Increasing fuel costs are pushing Turkish logistics companies to look with increasing interest at solutions provided by natural gas, which are capable of providing the same Diesel engine performance, excellent reliability, low noise levels and low running costs. Maurizio Manera, with the support of the APAC teams, accompanied a Turkish delegation to visit the Industrial Village, for a day focused on Iveco technology and the wide range of CNG products. The group, composed of twenty important customers and specialised journalists, including one of the members of the “Truck of the Year” award jury, stayed in Turin for two days with the Iveco Turkey team. Massimo Fumarola, the person in charge of the global planning of the product range, welcomed the guests to the Industrial Village, presenting a technical session on the Iveco CNG range and on this technology that provides high performance with low overall running costs, strongly supported by the new instrument for Evaluating the Driving Style (DSE). The heart of the visit was the test drive organised in collaboration with the product's Marketing, Customer Assistance and Commercial Training team at the Balocco circuit. The guests were able to test drive the Stralis CNG, the Diesel vehicles with the DSE Instrument and the Daily. They also had the chance to drive all the CNG powered versions. Most of the participants had only positive things to say about the comfort of the vehicles, as well as about the safety of the CNG system. The next day the guests were taken to the new Maserati factory in Grugliasco for a visit, and they also had the opportunity to test drive two Maserati models in an exciting racetrack experience. The connection with the famous FCA brand further contributed to arousing interest in Iveco, highlighting how much attention Iveco pays to its customers. An excellent brand at the service of a Market that is becoming increasingly important for the Asia Pacific Region.

DAKAR by Giancarlo Riolfo
DAKAR, THE HARDEST TEST
EVEN IF ABSOLUTE VICTORY WAS JUST OUT OF REACH, THE PARTICIPATION OF THE TEAM PETRONAS DE ROOY AT THE LEGENDARY RALLY WAS A SUCCESS, WITH ALL FOUR TRUCKS FINISHING THE RACE IN THE TOP PLACES. A BACK-BREAKING TEST, PASSED WITH FLYING COLOURS, WHICH CONFIRMS THE TOTAL RELIABILITY OF THE IVECO TRAKKER Four Iveco trucks started out and four arrived at the finishing line in the most gruelling Dakar ever. The one driven by the Dutch champion Gerard De Rooy arrived second, just three minutes behind the Kamaz of the winner, the Russian Karginov. And this after having led the classification for almost all the punishing rally, delayed by a puncture and penalised by the decision of the jury to concede a time bonus to his Russian rival who had been delayed by a vehicle that had gotten into an accident. Just by a whisker, then, De Rooy was thwarted in repeating the success of 2012. But in any event the rally was a triumph for the Iveco Trakker vehicles, which were placed in the top positions of the classification. And which came out undamaged after ten thousand kilometres of the deserts and dunes of Argentina and Chile. A result that
is even more exceptional when we take into account the statistics of an extremely selective rally: of the 70 trucks that started out, only 50 finished. It was worse for cars – 62 out of 147 made it to the finishing line – and for the motorcycles: 78 out of 174. An extreme test for the Iveco vehicles, which are derived from the standard series. And another confirmation of the reliability and sturdiness of the Trakker: an off-road truck designed to operate under the harshest conditions and overcome any obstacle. The new Trakker is the end point of a success story that began over twenty years ago with the Iveco Eurotrakker. A continuous evolution, which had fundamental stages like the introduction of the 8x8 version, the Cursor engines, the automatic Eurotric2 gearbox and, in 2007, a totally new cab.
THE DAKAR LIVES ON IN THE TRAKKER
12
The spirit of the Dakar lives on every day in the Trakker thanks to a series of exclusive accessories created by Parts & Services for the most demanding clients. Not only aesthetic components like the lining of the seats, but also articles aimed at providing increased safety in a quarry. Including the robust bull bar, the horn and the additional headlamps. «The experience – said Davide Capozzoli of CNH Industrial Parts & Service gained in the Dakar with the Team Petronas De Rooy Iveco, has allowed us to identify certain distinctive accessories capable of imparting the emotions of the most difficult rally in the world, combining them with a real-world use, with benefits for clients not only in terms of aesthetics, but also in terms of improved safety». Iveco quality and the Dakar spirit make them particularly suited to bringing out the robust good looks of the Trakker and, like all the accessories, even those specifically designed for the Dakar have Part Numbers and can be ordered through the usual channels for the purchase of spare parts.
Designed for working in the harshest conditions, on freshly tracked trails, on the most challenging off-road conditions, like in construction sites all over the world, the Trakker's strong points are its sturdy chassis, the power and reliability of its Cursor engines, as well as the comfort of the cab, designed to provide top ergonomics and the best possible working environment. Also in the most difficult environmental conditions. Another winning feature of the Trakker is the range, which is exceptionally broad and versatile. In addition to the 4x4 drive, in fact, the Trakker comes in 4x2, 6x4, 6x6, 8x6 and 8x8. A broad range of vehicles where it is impossible not to find the ideal vehicle for any type of use.
P E R F OR M AN C E A N D R E L I A B IL I T Y. T E S T E D BY DA K A R. Courage, commitment, determination and, above all, the strength and reliability it takes to overcome any obstacle. These are the values that IVECO took into DAKAR 2014, the toughest and most extreme rally in the world. We torture-tested the technologies and performance of our IVECO vehicles for more than 9,000 km, subjecting them to all kinds of difficulties. As proof of the strength of our vehicles and the reliability of our IVECO Cursor 13 Euro VI engines, we came second, just 3 minutes behind the winner, with all our IVECO vehicles reaching the finish line. 2 nd Gerard De Rooy (IVECO) + 3m 11s • 7 th Hans Stacey (IVECO) + 5h 14m 57s 10 th Pep Vila Roca (IVECO) + 7h 53m 35s • 22 nd Jo Adua (IVECO) + 22h 18m 58s Special thanks to our great team.

LEADERSHIP CONSTRUCTED OVER TIME A COMPANY WITH OVER 60 YEARS OF BUSINESS. A LONG HISTORY BUILT ON PROFESSIONALISM, RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND ON THE CONSOLIDATED RELATIONSHIP WITH IVECO. A BROAD RANGE OF VEHICLES USED, INCLUDING THE NEW TRAKKER EURO 6 On the outskirts of Alba, the famous Piedmont town in the heart of the Langhe, there is a company that has made customer service and respect for the environment the cornerstone of its business. Calcestruzzi Stroppiana S.p.A.: a reference point for the entire zone for the supply of concrete and aggregates for the building industry, as well as excavation and earthmoving, demolition and the disposal of rubble. Over 60 people work to provide the customers who rely on their services with value added in terms of professionalism and expertise. We met with the owner Dario Stroppiana and his daughter Paola, who for over a year has been closely following the company business and the quarry from which the trucks leave every day to supply the building companies in the area. Your company has been in business for more than 60 years in a sector that in recent years has been heavily affected by the economic crisis. The company was founded in 1947, at a time in our country's history when it was necessary to supply material for
14
reconstruction and we were approaching the boom of the 1950s. Since then we have invested a lot to be at the forefront, providing a service outperforming expectations. This has allowed us to become known for our professionalism and expertise, which have always been our strong points. In recent years, the market has literally come to a stop, with many clients having to downsize their investments and, as a result, also our turnover has dropped. How have you adapted to the market downturn? First of all by expanding our services from concrete to other activities so we can guarantee an all-round coverage for construction companies who rely on us for their requirements. We have created a strong relationship with our customers, which goes beyond simply providing a service. So in this way we have managed to create better work conditions for everyone. Despite the market crisis, therefore, you continue to invest. Absolutely. Our investments are focused on a constant improvement of the
business, but also of the work conditions of our employees, and, more generally, the community. We have modernised the company form both a systems point of view and also as regards our site vehicles. For example, our range of vehicles is renewed on average every five years. It is not a habit, but rather a clear ecological policy that we have always been committed to. We live in a territory that we love, and this is why we want to respect it as much as possible, also by using vehicles that are technologically in line with respecting the latest and restrictive anti-pollution measures. And also out of respect for our employees who use the vehicles every day and who really appreciate being able to drive cutting edge vehicles, not only from an environmental viewpoint but also as regards safety. About the vehicles, your company has many vehicles that work tirelessly to supply your customers I would say we have a complete range of vehicles. We have 50 different versions of trucks, 15 earth-moving machines and seven light commercial vehicles. Almost the entire fleet is made up of Iveco, New
Holland and Fiat Professional vehicles. Given the type of work, we are particularly careful about maintenance and about our regular check of the state of wear. Every day one of our in-house managers checks the situation and coordinates the maintenance work, using the in-house workshop that we have created. Whenever necessary, then, we can count on Garelli Veicoli Industriali, our reference dealer that supports us for all our requirements and with which we now have a strong relationship after many years. If we wanted to linger a while on one vehicle, what would it be? Beyond all doubt the Trakker. Over the years we have had the opportunity to test all its various versions in the field, from the earliest versions to the EuroTrakker and then the latest Trakker, especially the concrete mixer and concrete pump versions. Now we have ordered two Trakker Euro 6 which will replace the older ones in a continuous cycle for modernising the fleet, also in line with our environmental policies. In particular, for the introduction of our Policem, a trademark registered by Stroppiana S.p.a., and deriving from a mix of cement, aggregates and polystyrene foam beads, which can be used as a substrate/screed or for insulating cavities, we have fitted out Trakker 410 HP

THE NEW TRAKKER by Nicola Grande
THE FRIENDLY GIANT
WITH THE NEW TRAKKER, THE ENTIRE IVECO HEAVY RANGE IS NOW EURO 6. THANKS TO HI-eSCR TECHNOLOGY, HIGH PERFORMANCE ENGINES AND ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY LOW CONSUMPTION The result of a constant evolution of technology, the Trakker is today one of the most widely used and much appreciated quarry-construction site vehicles in Europe. Characterised by agility and peerless traction the Trakker can effortlessly move over the most impassable terrain, even with a full load. This is because it has been designed to carry out the most demanding tasks. Therefore the side members are made of extremely resilient materials with a high yield point, so that the chassis is rigid, but at the same time flexible enough to adapt to off-road terrain. There are six drive configurations
to choose from for the right traction for the job in hand. And finally the propulsion system, Cursor 9 and Cursor 13 Euro 6 engines with HI-eSCR and power ratings from 310 to 500 HP. Solutions that have been tried and tested also in extreme competitions like the Dakar rally, where three Trakker - prepared for the rally, but basically standard versions - came in seventh, tenth and twenty-second in the 2014 edition. An excellent result for vehicle that has no limits and that is available in over 1,700 versions.
THE CRANKCASE, CYLINDER HEAD AND COMMON RAIL INJECTION SYSTEM OF THE CURSOR 13 WERE PUT TO THE TEST IN THE DAKAR ON THE TRAKKER EVOLUTION 3 DRIVEN BY HANS STACEY AND THE POWERSTAR OF GERARD DE ROOY WHICH GAINED SECOND PLACE IN THE GENERAL CLASSIFICATION.

The most interesting new feature on the new Trakker M.Y. 2014 is the introduction of the Euro 6 engines equipped with second generation Common Rail that, thanks to the HI-eSCR system, have reduced emissions and also optimised consumption. Not only to comply with regulations, but a genuine Iveco innovation manifesto that, with the collaboration of FPT Industrial, is the only company to have adopted this exhaust gas treatment system. The Cursor engines have a variable geometry turbine with an integrated Waste-Gate valve for power and torque output at the top of the segment. Electronic control of the engine allows you to eliminate the “turbo-lag” thereby improving the both response sensitivity of the accelerator and the driving feel. Thanks to a system for the coaxial movement of the impeller, the turbocharger adapts to the volume of the exhaust gas coming in, providing optimal control of the boost pressure. The waste-gate system, moreover, keeps the pressure on the turbine constant and limited, and in certain conditions allows for a gradual release of the gases to the exhaust manifold thereby maintaining its reliability. The Cursor 9 is available with power ranging from 310 to 360 HP and the Cursor 13 from 410 to 500 HP.

LESS EMISSIONS THANKS TO HI-eSCR The system created by Iveco and FPT Industrial is the technological encapsulation of the research into maximum performance combined with a reduction in emissions and consumption. An innovative solution that is used on the Stralis and Eurocargo, and which is now offered also on the Trakker. The HI-eSCR provides a reduction in levels of nitrogen oxide by over 95% without any recirculation of the exhaust gases (EGR), thereby allowing a reduction in the weight and overall dimension since just one exhaust gas treatment system is used instead of two.
between the axle and the rear axle, and to calibrate the braking pressure on each axle in real time. The ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) system, finally, uses the same sensors as the ABS preventing the wheels from sliding and improving traction on slippery or bumpy surfaces. To improve braking, the Trakker is fitted with the CEB, Combined Engine Brake, a double-action engine brake, which works by means of a throttle valve positioned on the exhaust manifold. This valve has the double function of decompression and braking torque thanks to the counter-pressure of the exhaust gases that allow the rotation of the engine to be slowed down and the braking force to be increased.
A GEARBOX FOR EVERY SITUATION MANUAL 16-GEAR ZF GEARBOXES, AUTOMATIC EUROTRONIC WITH 12 OR 16 GEARS.
Together with the Cursor 9 and 13 engines there are three types of gearboxes: manual 16-gear ZF gearboxes and EuroTronic automatic gearboxes with 12 or 16 gears. The ZF manual gearbox is the ideal solution for those looking for a high degree of reliability combined with low maintenance costs. To ensure comfortable driving, it is fitted with a “servo-shift” system that reduces the force required on the lever by 50%. The EuroTronic with the gear change selector lever on the steering wheel is the best you can ask for this type of vehicle. The benefits begin with a reduction in weight by about 60 kg compared to the manual gearbox, with smaller dimensions and fewer pneumatic and electrical connections. Depending on the type of route, the EuroTronic gearbox can be used in fully automatic mode, or in a semi-automatic mode. On off-road sections, the torque can be increased by selecting the “offroad mode” using a button on the dashboard. HEAVYWEIGHT CHASSIS AND SUSPENSIONS The chassis of the Trakker is made with high strength side members with nailed or bolted cross members. The side members come in two degrees of thickness depending on the type of work (7.7 and 10 mm) with a core of 309 mm and 80 mm wide platbands. The chassis can be combined with mechanical suspensions with parabolic or semi-elliptical springs and pneumatic suspensions with four air cushions and with an ECAS (Electronically-Controlled Air Suspension) positioning adjustment system. The ECAS is a pneumatic-electronic system that ensures optimal driving comfort and a constant vehicle positioning on the basis of the speed, load and type of road. ALWAYS UNDER CONTROL In extreme conditions it is important to be able to rely on adequate safety systems. For this reason, the Trakker is equipped with ABS, EBL and, upon request, ASR. The ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) can be temporarily disengaged using the ”Off-Road mode” that allows the wheels to be locked
A CAB FOR EVERY SITUATION The different cab configurations for the Trakker: short (Hi-Land), long (HiTrack) and long with high roof (Hi-Track). All of them have the new modern and functional dashboard, with controls within easy reach. In particular, the seat has an integrated headrest and safety belt and, in order to improve comfort, it has air suspension, adjustable seat and backrest, this latter also having lumbar support. There is room for three people inside, who have various compartments available for putting documents, objects and work material. The Iveconnect infotelematic system for fleet control is housed on the dashboard. This, among other things, constantly monitors the on-board parameters, including the driving style, the position of the vehicle and the data coming from the chrono-tachograph.
COMPLETE VERSATILITY The new Trakker can be made to measure combining the possible configurations: • 2 versions (configurable chassis cab and trailer) with total gross weight respectively of up to 40 t (chassis cab) and 56 t (in the trailer + semi-trailer combination); • 2 engines (9 and 13 litres) with 4 levels of power up to 500 hp; • 6 gearboxes (16-speed manual and automatic EuroTronic 12 and 16-speed transmission); • 2 cabs: short (Hi-Land) for daily use and a long cab (Hi-Track) for work that requires overnight stays on board, • 2 roof heights (low and high), high roof only for Hi-Track; • 2, 3 or 4 axles with partial and total traction (4x2, 4x4, 6x4, 6x6, 8x4 and 8x8). All combined with specific chassis, suspensions and axle ratios for every requirement. Total flexibility that means over 1,700 versions are available.
FRONT DISC BRAKES, ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED BY THE ABS, EBL SYSTEMS AND, UPON REQUEST, ASR TRACTION CONTROL.
up to a maximum speed of 15 km/h. Beyond this speed the ABS automatically engages again. The New Trakker also has EBL (Electronic Brakeforce Limitation) to optimise the braking force according to the distribution of the load

TRAINING
WITH THE FORMATION OF CNH INDUSTRIAL THE PROGRAMMES OFFERED FOR THE PROFESSIONAL FIGURES IN DEALERSHIPS ARE REDEFINED. NEW INITIATIVES FROM TECHNICAL TRAINING AND A POLICY AIMED AT IMPROVING THE TECHNICAL, DIAGNOSTIC AND REPARATION SKILLS OF THE NETWORK TECHNICIANS
THE AIM IS TO LOWER COSTS IN ORDER TO INCREASE THE TRAINING HOURS FOR THE INDIVIDUAL DEALER.

For CNH Industrial training is a cornerstone that collects the best practices of the Iveco and CNH areas with programmes and courses for involving the network and training the technicians that each day have to maintain ever more complex and technologically advanced vehicles. In the EMEA geographical zone there are 27 training centres of the Group, 16 of which being dedicated to the work of Iveco with a specific centre for the minibuses. A widespread presence that allows the 120 professional trainers of the Technical Training to provide over 40 thousand training days a year, in ten languages. «CNH Industrial - says Gianfranco Zucca, the Technical Support manager of the EMEA Technical Training of CNH Industrial (in the photo) - was founded with an important training offer. Our objective is to standardise, in an instructional plan, the various methods used over the years by CNH and Iveco, which until today have moved along parallel tracks. Integration, therefore, to best exploit the
most significant experiences of the two brands and to provide our network with new and continually updated programmes and courses». All the initiatives started with the analysis of what has been proposed over the years to later redefine processes and methodologies. This has allowed the centres of excellence located in the various markets to be enhanced. A new way of transferring skills, and to be closer to the network with the aim of internationalising the various expertise, reducing also costs for dealers, who can choose the most convenient locations for attending courses. «For example – continued Zucca - in Visoke there is a centre for training on buses because the Iveco Bus factory in the Czech Republic is the reference point for all the work dedicated to transporting people. Moreover, by decentralising you have greater control over the courses and it is easier to develop programmes to create a group spirit among the members of the different teams that operate inside the dealerships». Also the delivery method is evolving towards

new modes with the aim of standardising the style at the international level, providing the theory only in online courses and making the network aware of the possibility of participating in training programmes "in the field". In this way the training emphasis shifts from experience gained in a theoretical manner towards a more concrete strategy of "learning by doing". The courses prepared for the over 15 thousand technicians of the Iveco network pay particular attention to the diagnostics systems, because knowing how to adequately evaluate the scale of the client's problems is an important value added today for workshops that want to provide a service aligned with expectations.
CNH Industrial is also working to increase the courses available online using the Learning Management System platform. This is a way of managing the training process that today has been improved even further in its ease of access and use, thanks to multimedia materials, including the virtual classrooms, particularly for updates. The aim is to lower costs in order to increase the training hours for the individual dealer. On-line training covers all the vehicle technical areas for all the product ranges. Available in the languages of the various markets, the on-line courses are free and can be used using the IWA platform (IVECO WEB
