North Carolina’s Popularity Continues Driving Luxury Housing Demand

Bucking national media reports, North Carolina’s luxury real estate enclaves across the state continue to buck trends. With some 20 million people projected to relocate to Sunbelt States between 2020 and 2030, and the state climbing to third in national popularity for migrating residents, solid luxury housing demand over the next decade continues to look highly likely.

Between Lake Norman and Charlotte, the region’s 8 counties surrounding Charlotte are producing some jawdropping luxury numbers. Among them, 324 homes closed last year over $2 million in list price, with another 76 closed so far this year and 100 more under contract. This projects to what looks like another historic year in the ultra-luxury market, despite what was a sluggish winter relative to the past 36 months.
