Since 1982, Montana has been bringing high-quality furniture, proud Danish traditions, and a multitude of colours to private homes, public spaces, and corporate facilities all over the world.

We are firm believers in the power of colours and the way they can spark creativity, joy, laughter, and unity. All the stuff that the world can never have too much of.

Safe for you — safe for the environment

At Montana, we take our environmental responsibilities seriously. For us, sustainability is using high-quality materials and robust craftsmanship to produce long-lasting products. Long-lasting products that are neither harmful to you nor the environment.

Since 2007, we have exclusively used water-based lacquer colours which do not contain any solvents harmful to you or the environment. Our modules carry the Danish Indoor Climate Label, and in 2019, we obtained the prestigious EU Ecolabel, becoming one of the first furniture brands in Europe to hold this official European certification. The Ecolabel applies to the entire Montana System, CO16, Montana Free Shelving System, and all of our Panton products.

Five generations — of Danish Design

Joakim Lassen is the fifth generation of his family to work with furniture and the great grandson of furniture manufacturer Fritz Hansen. Today, he is Managing Director of Montana. With a background in cultural geography and a career as an environmental consultant, sustainabilty remains a high priority.

Danish design — Danish manufacturing

All Montana modules are designed, developed and made in Denmark. Nothing leaves our factory in Haarby without having been manually inspected and approved, ensuring that every Montana piece has the perfect surface, jointing, and craftsman’s touch.

Meet our designers

Over the years, Montana Furniture has collaborated with many designers, both Danish and international, to launch brand new designs as well as relaunching classic design icons.

In 1982, Peter J. Lassen founded the family company, Montana Furniture. Montana is based on Lassen’s philosophy; that every one of us has a need for freedom to create our own personal spaces.

MONTANA LACQUER COLOURS

Margrethe Odgaard graduated in 2005 from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design in Copenhagen. In 2019, Montana launched a new colour palette developed in close collaboration with Margrethe, leveraging all her expertise on colours.

PANTON WIRE, PANTON TABLE, PANTON ONE, PANTONOVA

Verner Panton is considered one of Denmark’s most influential 20th-century furniture and interior designers, not to mention one of the most avant-garde. During his career, he created innovative and futuristic designs in a variety of materials and in vibrant, exotic colours.

Jørgen Rasmussen

KEVI CHAIR SERIES

Jørgen Rasmussen graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1955 and in 1957, Jørgen and his twin brother, Ib, started their own studio with a focus on single-family houses. In 1958, he designed the Kevi chair.

Anders Engholm

AVENY-T CHAIR

Danish designer Anders Engholm is a skilled blacksmith, who also holds a Bachelor of Arts in furniture design and manufacturing. In 2022, he won the TV-show Denmark’s next classic with his chair design Aveny-T, originally designed for the historic Aveny-T theatre in Copenhagen.

Jakob Wagner

Jakob Wagner is a Danish award-winning designer. He has received numerous awards, including six iF Awards, three Red Dot Awards, Bundespreis, and Designer of the Year.

The iconic chair series from 1958

The original Kevi chair from 1958 was a swivel chair on casters. The Kevi chair series comprises models on casters in 4 heights and various models. The fourlegged Kevi chair with seat and back is available as dining, counter, bar, and lounge model.

Aveny-T

A young chair for a broad audience

The Aveny-T chair is the perfect answer to a demanding brief with its lightness, expressive lines, and modern combination of materials – recycled plastic in a terrazzo composite-like look in combination with a black powder coated sled-shaped frame. Aveny-T was originally designed for the Aveny-T Theatre in Copenhagen. A theatre with a young audience as its target group, naturally demands a chair that is both functional, minimalistic, and full of character.

Der Aveny-T Stuhl erfüllt eine ganze Reihe anspruchsvoller Forderungen: Er ist leicht, hat eine ausdrucksstarke Linienführung und vereint moderne Materialien – recycelter Kunststoff im Terrazzo-Look trifft auf ein kufenförmiges Gestell mit schwarzer Pulverbeschichtung. In 1954, naval officer Peter J. Lassen followed his curiosity into the furniture industry, where he worked with renowned Danish architects and designers such as Arne Jacobsen, Jørn Utzon, Piet Hein and Verner Panton for many years, before he founded Montana Furniture in 1982.

Montana is based on his philosophy; that every one of us has a need for freedom and a natural desire to create our own personal spaces.

Peter J. Lassen passed away peacefully after a brief illness on August 15, 2019, in his home in northern Zealand, Denmark.
