HIPF booth At The 11th International Plastics & Petrochem Trade Fair HIPF was one of the active par ticipants in the International Plastics and Petrochem trade fair held o n 1 7 - 20 Fe br uar y ; 2014. Th e sh ow was the 11 th International Plastics and Petrochem Exhibition and the 11th International Printing and Packaging Technologies, It was organized by the Riyadh Exhibitions Company (REC) at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center (RICEC).

Thermoformed Plastics Packaging Clamshell packaging is available in many shapes and dimensions. These are ideal for displaying the products to the customers and also for safe transport of the items. This kind of packaging offers protection and theft resistance for the product and attracts the customer by providing a very attractive view of the product. Custom clamshell packaging is the ultimate choice for most of the products like softballs, a conventional egg crate clamshell provides excellent product security in suitable design and dimension. Clamshell packages provide easy product installation and an aesthetic look. It can be built in any size or shaped cavities or ornamental designs into the clamshell.

There are different types of clamshell packaging available such as 1. Mock clamshell 2. Trifold clamshell and 3. Custom thermoformed clamshell One of the most adaptable types of thermoformed clamshell packaging is a tri-fold. The tri-fold benefits retail sellers by offering the ability to display a product on a shelf or hanging from a hook.

Since 1937, Ampacet’s Masterbatch technology has enhanced the value of a broad range of plastic products, giving them the right look and function. Ampacet’s Masterbatches are used in almost every polymer plastic process and application. The Masterbatch is a solid concentrate mixture of color pigments or additives, usually having a granulate form, which is used during the extrusion to give to the plastic the look and attributes which will characterize the final product. Using Masterbatch in the process has various advantages, such as the great dispersion of the

pigments and additives in the mix, no dust pollution, no need for staff with good technical knowledge and reduction in cleaning costs. Ampacet has extensive experience producing Masterbatches for applications in mono-layer and coextruded films, as well as in Blow molding, Injection molding, Extrusion thermoforming, and other processes. Key markets for our products include: Packaging (Flexible and rigid), Agricultural and greenhouse films, Wire and cable insulation, Piping and conduit, Textiles and nonwovens, Electronics, Construction & Toys.

Ampacet has Sales presence and distribution facilities in Saudi Arabia. For further information please contact: mohammed.jaber@ampacet.com khalil.fadda@ampacet.com

Characteristics of A good package Packaging has become a nucleus part of most of the products like foods and beverages, cosmetics, electronics, medicines and almost all types of products of day to day life. Packaging adds value to the product and gives a reason to the customer for the purchase of the product. A good packaged product has more chances of sustenance in the market. A good packaging has certain important characteristics such as: Convenient: Packaging must be easy to handle while transferring the product from place to place, easy to store and re-usable. Aesthetic: Package must be attractive, beautiful and justifiable to the customer. Authentic: Packaging is an opportunity to establish the relationship of food products

and their origin in order to provide assurance to the customer about reliability of the product. Affordable: Package must be of low cost otherwise there is a hike in the price which directly affects the sustainability of the product by reducing sales in the market. Preserving: Packaging must preserve and ensure the quality of the product by not only protecting it from being damaged due to some natural factors like sunlight, moisture, insects and dust but also from other factors like harmful and corrosive chemicals etc.

Informative: Packaging must provide complete information about product which makes the product self explanatory and results in establishing a bond of trust between the product and the customer. Proper packaging gives life to the product. Courtesy of Surtyn® Dupont (Japan)

Polyamide Technyl® eXten coating – an alternative to copper piping in ACs Solvay Engineering Plastics has developed a new grade of polyamide material, Technyl® eXten which can be used as fluid barrier with high efficiency in air conditioning system .

coupled with high chemical, UV, temperature resistance and low humidity absorption helps in the long-term corrosion protection for air conditioning applications.

It will be used as a protective coating for aluminum refrigerant piping replacing copper piping. This will reduce the cost especially in huge market of household electrical appliances, buildings or automobiles. As far as aluminum is considered it has better surface-to-weight ratio, lower melting point and lower cost than copper.

As this material is derived from sebacic acid (castor oil), it can serve as a good renewable carbon source. This promotes ecological benefits being bio-sourced and also offers a solution to the rising demands for more sustainable and high performance material.

The Technyl® eXten material developed by Solvay, shows excellent flow rate and metal adhesion
