OUR STORY

FOREVER AND A DAY

WEDDING IMAGERY FOR A LIFETIME

From the moment lzabela picked up a camera for the first time in high school and captured her senior class friends, she knew she was onto something special. Seeing those bright faces, looking forward to the future, was the perfect precursor to her career today. Through years of college courses and life experiences, the smell of darkroom chemicals was never far away, and her dreams to capture more memorable moments for others ultimately led me to her career as a family photographer. After all, what is more special than capturing those special moments in life, especially your wedding? Alan has captured life on film and then video long before he took the Broadcasting Radio & Television course in college. His father, now in his eighties first introduced him to the magic of film by being one of the first in the family to own a Brownie 8mm camera which he brought out at every family gathering to capture a few precious minutes of family history. Alan was soon at his side wide eyed and enthralled by the idea of capturing a moment that will last forever. It was only a matter of time before he would turn that wonder to filming the beginning of other family histories with the wedding day. His story telling style takes the humble wedding video and elevates it to the heights of big screen cinematography. Together lzabela & Alan form a perfect team, not only as a coupe but as creative collaborators with you to capture your special day with artistic & beautiful photography and unique story based cinematography. Your story truly starts here. Yours,

etters from you

I was truly surprised at how you were able to capture our love, our humour and our personalities so perfectly. I cry everytime I look at our images and would not change a single thing about the memories you helped us create

You took the most beautiful and special day of my life and captured every moment so beautifully. Every time I look at my wedding photos, I'm reminded of the love of that day and those special friends and family members surrounding us. Thank you so much.

The album you created for our wedding was so beautiful! I loved that we had such quality materials to choose from, and your help made the process easy and fun. I can't wait to share you with friends.

I know that some couples like to see each other before the ceremony for a "first look". We're a bit "old fashioned" and wonder if it's bad luck for the groom to see the bride before she walks down the aisle. What are your thoughts?

Here at Imagine PhotoCinema, we definitely pride ourselves in catering to the needs and desires of our clients. That said we do encourage our couples to do "The First Look". It's a wonderful opportuity for the couple to have a quite intimate moment before all the festivities to see each other and take a breath without an audience. It's the perfect time to exchange gifts, compliment each other and even release some tension with a tear in private. We will be there to capture the moment from a distance allowing the real emotion to take place unencumbered. This is also a great time to take a few couple portraits, especially if time is short after the ceremony. We'd love to set aside some time for an engagement shoot. Is this something you do? We sure do! We work with you to plan the engagement shoot of your dreams, including location selection and wardrobe recommendations. Additionally, we can even help you design pieces for your wedding using your engagement shoot photos for sign-in boards, guest books, save-the-date cards, thank you cards, table place settings, and much more. Imagine PhotoCinema also offers several wonderful album/book options to help you remember your engagement shoot forever. Be sure to check out page 8 of this issue for more information about scheduling your own engagement shoot for a lifetime of special memories! My fiance and I really want to have a nighttime wedding, but I've heard that will spell disaster for our pictures. What do you think we should do?

Go for it! While photographers generally prefer natural light to artificial light for the photographs, you should always do what makes you happy. At Imagine PhotoCinema we come equipped to handle any lighting situation and have years of experience with many different venues and circumstances, including nighttime weddings. Because you never have to worry about your images not coming out nicely, go ahead and have your dream wedding and leave the details to us! HAVE A QUESTION? We'd love to hear from you and answer your question in a future issue of our studio magazine. Please send your question to alan@imaginephotocinema.com

ENGAGEMENTS

Engagements are so engaging. Romance is in the air and the anticipation of a lifetime together comes to a crescendo in the rush during the Weeks leading up to your wedding, causing you to wonder: Is an engagement shoot necessary? After all, your wedding pictures share the beginning of your life, right? Shooting an engagement is important for several reasons. First, this time allows you to get comfortable in front of the camera with your photographer, figuring out how you work best together before the wedding. Next, you can showcase your personalities in a more casual

setting, while creating some fun captures for wall portraits, your wedding sign-in book, sign-in board and Thank You cards (shot early enough, we can also provide the images for your Save the Date cards and invitations). Images also add another dimension to your wedding album, chronicling the story from engagement to your wedding day. Best of all, you can remember this special time forever away from the throngs of loved ones and friends. This is your time together. View our on-line gallery for more Engagement images here

THE FIRST LOOK

A BEAUTIFUL WAY TO CAPTURE YOUR LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!

We love it when couples want to do a "First Look". For us it's more romantic than the walk down the aislel It gives a couple the opportunity to privately see each other just before the ceremony and let that emotion flow. She can tell him how handsome he looks and how excited she is to finally be his wife and he can tell her how stunning she is and what a lucky man he is. He can even shed a little tear without thinking his groomsmen will never let him live it down! We candidly capture these precious moments from a distance and allow the emotions ununfold infront of us. It may be the only few moments in the day you have to yourselves. It's also a great way of getting a few "couple" images if time is short after the ceremony.

BOUDOIR

Bridal Boudoir has recently gained popularity across North America and although lzabela has been shooting Boudoir for years she's never offered it as part of the wedding experience... until now! We have decided to include it in several of our packages and help to create the PERFECT grooms gift! Can you imagine your grooms delight at opening a gift box with a gorgeous album filled with sensual and flattering images of you, his beautiful bride on the morning of the wedding?

Every woman deserves to feel beautiful on her wedding day. lzabela has the ability to capture that beauty not only in wedding images that you will share with everyone but also those intimate images you may only want to share with the love of your life.

So many things are special about your wedding day. While they may seem like small details, the unassuming pillow your ring bearer carried might have been made from your Christening gown. Whether it's your bouquet or your shoe or your something blue, it's all a part of your distinct personality as a couple, sharing your yesterdays while you prepare for your many t omorrows.

YOUR WEDDING

THE CINEMATIC EXPERIENCE Imagine PhotoCinema's capture of a wedding event is not like any other in the Thunder Bay area. The intimacy and personalization of ever film we produce comes from our developing a relationship with a couple long before ther weddig day. We meet several times and even go on "a date" to get to know you better and get to know what makes you a unique couple and your film a unique story.

Wedding videography or "cinematography" as we like to call it, has come a long way over the years. It's progressed from the early days of a couple of cameras on a tripod capturing every second of the day, to over produced short features utilizing high tech gadgetry and cameras. But even with the latest high tech equipment we found there was something very important missing.... the story. When you think about it there are only so many churches, hair salons and photo back drops in our area. What makes the wedding film different is you. Everyone has a story to be told. It's more than just the walk down the aisle. Your wedding film is a snapshot in time of who you are today as a couple. But, it's also a snapshot of the life leading up to that important day that will pave the way for your future as a family. We've realized that in order to get that story in a wedding film we need to dig deeper in finding out the uniqueness in what makes a couple who they are. The only way to get that story is to spend time with them before the wedding day. Doing this serves two purposes: One, it allows us to get to know the couple and learn the little things that are important to them which we might never learn until the speaches at the reception, by which time it's too late.. Second, it builds a huge comfort level so that on wedding day we're not these intimidating shooters with cameras and gadgets in their face. We love it when we hear the couple tell us they don't remember us capturing a particular scene. They say that because by that point they felt comfortable to be themselves with the camera rolling. You can't get this comfort level showing up an hour before the ceremony. We're not a company that cranks out the same cookie-cutter performance. You are unique. Your wedding story should be too.

CLIENT SPOTLIGHT

Lindsey+ Steve

I recently had the privilege of photographing Lindsey and Steve's gorgeous wedding this last fall. Hot weather matched the racing pulse of friends and family alike as the two said "I do." Because weddings are a flurry of excitement and special moments between loved ones, family and friends, it is important to not only capture those smiles, demure glances and beautiful flowers; stunning photography also captures the wishes of the client. How can you be prepared for the biggest day of your life so far? Here, Lindsey and Steve share: THE BEST ADVICE FOR A BRIDE. "Make sure to have a close friend or relative help you keep track of time," says Lindsey. "In the excitement of the events taking place, it's so easy to run late, especially when so many of you might be getting ready together!" THE BIGGEST SURPRISE ABOUT THEIR WEDDING DAY. "We had an exciting moment when the ring bearer tripped coming down the aisle," says Steve. "He's this young nephew of mine and he really crashed. Then the flower girl went back, pulled him up, and they kept walking. Everybody loved that." THEIR FAVORITE PHOTO MOMENT. "We thought the formal photos were going to be the most important," says Lindsey, "but the candids turned out to be our favorites because we saw that everyone was in the moment as much as we were." WHAT THEY LOVED MOST ABOUT WORKING WITH YOUR STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHY. Steve says, "lzabela was really cool. I didn't know what to expect from a photographer, so when I saw pictures of people and things I never got to see during the day, I was pretty happy. She caught all of the details and got great shots of friends and family, too." HOW TO TAME THOSE WEDDING DAY NERVES. Lindsey says, "There's no real way to not be nervous, but I tried not to think about it, pretending we were getting ready for prom instead." WHICH ONE MOMENT WILL LAST FOR THEM FOREVER. Lindsey and Steve say they will most remember seeing Steve's brother cry at the altar. "My brother's a pretty tough guy, so seeing him tear up a little during the ceremony was enough to make me almost lose it. Thankfully, the photographer caught him with his hand coming away from his face! It was really a cool moment to see him so happy for me."

GETTING MARRIED WITHOUT BEING HARRIED

This will give you peace ef mind to know exactly how you will look and give you the opportunity to f change things in advance i necessary. Make sure to biing alljewelry to the tiial to see how makeup shades work with the pieces. • Have your flo1ist deliver your flowers to where you are getting ready, not the ceremony venue. Since you never know when the mood will strike .for a great photo, you'll want your flowers there and ready to go. • Find out what the rules.for photographs are at the ceremony location. All venues are different, some restricting the location ef photographs and even the times in which they are permitted. • -if possible, arrange to have your .formal photographs taken before the ceremony. Getting this step out efthe W'!Y early in the dqy.ftees up the rest efyour time to spend with your guests. You will be able to go straight to cocktail hour and catch up with loved ones without stress. It's a new age, so it's no longer considered bad luck .for the groom to see the biide before the wedding. • Have .food delivered to your getting ready location. It m'!Y be hectic, but take the time to have a bite before the wedding since it will be a while before you have the opportunity to nouiish yourself duiing the reception. • Prepare an emeigency bridal kit with clear nail polish, mints, a sewing kit, stain treate1 Visine, safety pins, bobby pins, pain reliever and mini deodorant. • Allowing 50% more time .for hair and makeup than you 01iginally anticipated alleviates the number one reason wedding schedules end up running late. This will assure you have plenty eftime.for all the portraits you want to take before the wedding. • Make sure you discuss a "rain plan" with your venuejust in case Mother Nature doesn't see sunshine in the cards.

TRADITIONAL GROUPINGS

STRIKE A POSE Here at Imagine PhotoCinema we pride ourselves in capturing the most natural & romantic portraiture possible as well as candids. This style showcases your day as it was, helping to bring your personalities forward and documenting your day for a lifetime of memories. While we shoot the majority of our images this way, it's also very important to capture traditional formal portraits as well. These group shots are best immediately when everyone is ready and fresh, right before the ceremony; and since our most important goal is getting you to your wedding on schedule, we allow 3-5 minutes for each desired grouping to ensure maximum results with minimal time. (Make sure all flowers and boutonnieres are delivered on time and affixed to family members and to the wedding party in advance.)

Imagine PhotoCinema

Because we prefer to keep the number of groups to ten or less for more intimate group shots, we always start with the largest group and break it down after that to allow for mingling. As time permits, we love to include a picture of the bride with each of her bridesmaids and the groom with each of his groomsmen, since each person has been invited due to close, personal ties with the couple. If you have ideas for any 'can't-miss' portrait groupings you would like to see photographed during this time, make sure to note them on your provided wedding information form. We're happy to work with you to capture all of your special moments!
