What is Virtek Cloud?
Virtek Cloud is a fully customisable IaaS cloud platform designed for SMBs and IT professionals who want to move existing legacy, custom and mission-critical applications to the cloud. What types of OS are supported?
Virtek Cloud supports Linux, Microsoft Windows and Custom virtual servers.
Linux: Windows: Custom:
Virtek Cloud supports a wide variety of the latest Linux operating systems. Virtek Cloud supports Windows 2012/2008/2003 Enterprise Edition server. Metered virtual server pricing includes the cost of all Windows licensing. Create a custom virtual server using your existing OS licenses. Install the OS of your choice or upload your own VMware based image. Once set-up is complete, you have immediate vSphere access as well as the ability to manage your virtual server on the console.

Can you explain your server architecture?
Virtek Cloud uses VMware virtualisation technology to ensure the highest levels of flexibility and reliability. Virtual server capacity is configured using High Availability (HA) and DRS clustering, and Virtek Cloud data center facilities run in active-active configurations to ensure that any failure behind the scenes does not impact your virtual server environment. Combined, these architecture strategies enable Virtek Cloud to provide an industry-leading performance SLA.

How long does it take to get a virtual server up and running?
Virtek Cloud enables virtually on-demand provisioning. Using the Virtek Cloud storefront you can config- ure and deploy a basic virtual server in under 3 minutes and an advanced virtual server in under 6!

How do I provision/ configure a virtual server?
The Virtek Cloud presents you with an extremely intuitive set of prompts and one-click buttons to configure, obtain quotes, and order one or many virtual servers. Specifically, you can:

What if I make a mistake while provisioning my virtual server? Can I fix it?
Of course! Virtual servers, network configurations and firewalls can easily be adjusted at any time. In most cases, virtual servers do not require a reboot.

How quickly can I scale up/ down compute resources on my virtual server?
Virtual server capacity can be spun-up or spun-down on-demand. Simply login to your Virtek Cloud account and adjust your compute resources. Changes take effect immediately. Because Virtek Cloud is a consumption-based service, pricing reflects your usage and not peak capacity or reserved resources.

Is there a penalty for scaling?
There is no penalty for scaling. We view scaling as an intrinsic value of cloud computing. It is among the top reasons cited for moving business applications to the cloud. For this reason, we do not levy or penalise customers for taping into the elasticity of their cloud environment.

Can I guarantee compute resources on my virtual server?
With Virtek Cloud, dedicated compute resources are the default. You have the flexibility to change this in the self-service storefront. Shared compute resources are offered at a discounted cost.
10. How do I access, monitor and manage my virtual server?
With Virtek Cloud, you are 100% in control of your cloud environment. Login to your secure customer ac count on the Virtek Cloud Portal to monitor and manage your virtual environment. The portal presents you with the following views and tools:

11. How will I be charged for my virtual server?
Virtek Cloud is an hourly, pay-as-you-go, consumption-based service. You pay only for the resources you consume.
12. When do I start being charged for my virtual server?
Metered billing commences at the time of the deployment. When changes are made to your virtual environment, the costs are adjusted to the hour.
13. If I power off my virtual server, do I still get charged?
When you power off your virtual server, the cost of compute, RAM and vCPU are eliminated. Only the cost for the continued use of storage remains.
14. How many IP Addresses do I get with my virtual server? Can I get extra? IPs are provided dynamically depending on the requirements of the virtual server. Additional IPs (public and private) can be ordered at any time by logging into your secure customer account on the Virtek Cloud storefront.
15. Can I have a private, dedicated connection to my office?
Yes, Virtek Cloud supports a variety of virtual network connections including SSL and IP-SEC VPNs. Dedicated physical private networks to your office/data center such as MPLS can also be supported.
16. Is my virtual server secure? What tiers of security are provided?
Virtek Cloud provides multiple tiers of security for your data and virtual servers:
• Virtual servers reside in our SOC 2 Certified TYPE ll compliant and US DOC Safe Harbor Certified data center facility providing the ability to support compliance requirements for HIPPA, Sarbanes-Oxley and PCI DSS. • Network level security is provided through isolated tenant networks, site-to-site VPN (SSL or IPSEC), site-to-site MPLS, and integrated firewall. We also support hybrid cloud environments through virtual LAN and WAN extensions.

17. What kind of storage is available? How is it charged for?
Virtek Cloud offers three tiers of storage. Tier 1, SSD Storage, is persistent RAID 10 SAN storage for maximum performance (IOPS) and high quality storage. Tier 2, HDD Storage, is comprised of 10K and 7.2K drives and Tier 3, HDD Storage running at 7.2k Drives Storage is charged per GB/hr. There is no separate or additional charge for disk I/O. All storage is persistent.
18. What is your SLA?
Virtek Cloud offers an industry-leading 99.99% availability. This includes power and network availability to our physical servers. The SLA credit is 10% of customer monthly costs for the affected service within the month that the outage occurs for every 0.5% that availability falls below the standard, to a max of 50% of that service’s monthly fee.
