4 Touristy Spots to Visit THIS FALL

It’s so hard to say goodbye to spontaneity. Peak travel dates take place during the summer, while the pace tends to slow down post-summer vacation, offering more affordable travel options and less crowded spaces. If you’re hunting for a weekend road trip, breathtaking views, or simply a change in pace, September brings gorgeous scenery primed for autumn to do her thing. The weather is still sunny and pleasant in many areas. Cruise the streets with your significant other, go on a spontaneous solo trip, or pack up the kids for a mini excursion.

Greenville, South Carolina

(My beautiful hometown. I’m biased, of course)

Nestled between Charlotte and Atlanta, Greenville’s southern charm is undeniable. Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, this very green city is a not-so-secret hidden gem. You’ll find rustic buildings and artsy vibes in and around the downtown area, which

is known for its burgeoning food scene. Falls Park on Reedy River presents a relaxing atmosphere of total serenity. The weather is nice in upstate South Carolina this time of year, giving you plenty of reasons to explore the city by car or on foot.

Napa Valley, California

This is the destination for the bad and boozy crowd. September is primetime viewing for the annual grape harvest. Whether it’s your first time visiting or your fifth, with entertaining live music and culinary events, there’s enough wine and adventure to go around. Visit historic wineries like Charles Krug, Louis M. Marti-

ni Winery, or Beaulieu Vineyard. Catch a hot air balloon to take in all the valley has to offer. Hit up Oxbow Public Market for an immersive experience with local vendors.

Burlington, Vermont

Hello, long flannels, the sweet aroma of apple and cinnamon, and the satisfaction of gliding through leaves. Burlington is a beautiful canvas for picture-perfect fall activities like apple picking. The hiking tours provide a breathtaking view of the valley. Bring your appetite for endless farm-to-table dining. The local craft brews and ciders will quench your thirst like no other, ending the day with live music and a feeling of peace that you won’t find anywhere else.

Great Smoky Mountains, TN

Millions of tourists descend upon the Great Smoky Mountains National Park year-round. September is a practical time to visit when students are back in school, and family vacations are less common. Still, this place is busy. Start your trip in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. Hiking, or backpacking if that’s your jam, is wide open for miles upon miles of trails with extraordinary sightseeing. The Smokies present deciduous trees for an impressive fall foliage viewing. All-inclusive guided treks are available to give you the full experience. This place requires multiple trips in your lifetime because it’s impossible to see it all at once.

9 WAYS TO STYLE YOUR FAVORITE JEANS

Denim is in style year-round, but it hits different come autumn. We’re all guilty of chasing funky trends (remember the 2000s? yuck!), but some looks never fade. That’s especially true of jeans. We’re encouraging you to get back to this month. Jeans (no matter the wash) often get a bad rep as unprofessional or too casual. The key is to determine the comfort level you’re going for and choose pairings accordingly. If you’re planning for a highly active outing, you should stay away from a snug fit like skinny jeans. For dressier events, the slouchy look won’t fly. Accessories, hairstyles, and lip color can elevate jeans. Here’s a round-up of a few ways to experiment with your favorite pieces and go-to denim jeans.

Double denim - a sleek vibe: Mix and match different washes and accent the look with a solid top and big hoop earrings.

Wide leg leans - a chic minimalist vibe: Wear them with a cropped cable sweater, ballet flats, with your hair parted in the middle.

Overalls - a hipster vibe: Throw on a solid scarf, a long-sleeved top with patterns, and kitten heels, with a ponytail.

Carpenter jeans - a grungy vibe: Wear with a ribbed tank, leather belt, sneakers, and high bun. Accent with a baguette bag.

Distressed jeans - a fun and flirty vibe: Pair with a vest, heeled sandals, and rectangle frame sunglasses.

Drawstring jeans - cool mom vibes: Dress it up with a sheer bodysuit, trench coat, and a cap.

Boyfriend jeans - a nostalgic vibe: Drape it with an oversized graphic tee, sneakers, and a shoulder bag.

High-waisted jeans - a classic vibe: Wear it with a biker jacket, white blouse, and heels.

All black everything - for the culture vibe: Black jeans. Black body suit. Gold accessories. Red lip. Thank us later!

Hello September

Transitioning into a Fall Routine

Put down the margaritas and grab a pumpkin spice drink. Cozy season is here. As you check off the remaining items on your summer bucket list, your day-to-day habits may no longer mesh with the autumn transition. Fall into a new routine by focusing on consistency, planning, and making small changes that will eventually morph into big improvements. Lazy summer days are the perfect for cleaning your slate

1. Access Your Diet.

Your body has different needs during sweater weather. Constant summer travel can mean lots of snacking, increased

alcohol consumption, and disruptions to your typical eating habits. A poor diet can lead to irritability, acne outbreaks, and irregular sleep patterns. Rid your body of toxins by keeping a food journey during the first few weeks of September. Doing so will make pinpointing triggers, overeating, and any nutritional deficiencies easy.

2. Wake Up 30 Minutes Earlier Than Usual.

The days are getting shorter, making it feel like we must cram in an unreasonable amount of tasks before the sun goes down. Get ahead of the rat race. Spend the first halfhour of your day with intent. No social media. No emails. Start your mornings with gratitude and a clean mental slate, then watch your daily productivity increase.

3. Stay organized like there’s no tomorrow.

Most people use planners heavily at the top of the year but tend to fall off by midspring. Blow the dust off your 2023 planner and write down everything to take the load off your brain. Don’t wait until January to clean out your closet. Gradually replace or donate clothing you won’t

need in the fall. In short, ditch anything (or anyone) that isn’t serving you

4. Slow and steady wins the race.

High-impact workouts are effective in the summer but also cause added muscle tension. Take it easy, literally. A brisk walk in the a.m. gets your heart going and blood flowing. Seasonal depression is very real, and the best way to tackle it is to stay ahead..

5. Switch up your beauty products.

Making sure your face card never expires means using the appropriate products for the season. Thicker creams and serums are nourishing for your skin instead of lighter treatments during the summer. One thing you don’t want to skimp on is the SPF. The sun’s rays are

everpresent even on chill days.

6. Keep up with your friend dates.

It’s easy to become disconnected from the outside world in a new season. Make time for joy by making time and space for the people who matter most to you. Keep your coffee dates and virtual hangs near and dear to keep you warm!
