HOW IT WORKS
INTERESTING FACTS:
The system is divided with “Intra-City Routes” that you can identify with the RED busses. Inter-City Routes are provided by public and private buses this is detailled later on this document. Private busses are safer.
GUATEMALA’S TRANSPORT SYSTEM Guatemala is still developing new ways and routes of transport and you should not be totally dependent on it due to the lack of information and safety issues. The best way to move in the city is... with a friend or calling a taxi however options like Transmetro make it possible to move in selected areas.
BEST WAY TO DO IT The best and ONLY way we recommend you to move is calling a taxi, using Transmetro or going to a private bus terminal. You should avoid red busses if possible.
Safety is the main concern while using the public transportation system, we suggest that you leave this as the last option for moving.
ATTENTION! IF for any circunstance your only option is a red bus please remember to keep your valuable items in a place you can keep track of them. Robbery is something usual in these busses.
NOTE: We understand moving around the city can seem pretty though but most places are within an hour (exagerating) and other AIESEC members will be always available to give you a ride.
4
