Task 1: Gathering source images. 1. For this assignment to be successful you will need to collect a wide range of source images.
Although you can find many pictures on the web, you can get more marks for your work if you actually take some of your own photographs. 2. Begin by considering upon a theme for your work. Although your final work should resemble
a landscape, there are many different types of landscape that you can create. For example: A traditional country scene with rolling hills, a river, trees and flowers. A mountain range with steep slopes and white peaks, perhaps with a forest at the foot of the hills. A village scene with a typical post office, pub and little shops. A small road might meander through the village with people going about their day. A busy town or city with lots of buildings, people and cars. A country road, slowly winding away into the distance with a fast car or motorbike. A scene from a distant planet, with creatures and strange aliens lurking over looked by the stars moon and neighbouring planets. A river scene with a fishing boat, flowers on the river bank and lilly s gently floating on top of the water. A waterfall cascading and falling down a cliff face into a pond or oasis with wildlife.
3. When you have decided what your theme will be it is time to find your source images.
Obviously you can do general searches using the EVERYCLICK image search engine (link at top), however to help you get started I have made a list of useful links to a variety of websites where you can download images to your PC. Use the LINK icon at the top of this task to access these links. 4. When you find images that you think may be useful for your work, use the RIGHT-CLICK
mouse function and select SAVE TARGET or PICTURE AS, before you click the OK button check the file name. If needed rename each picture with a more suitable name, also select a suitable place to save your source images such as your Art folder in your HOME area. You may need to work on your project at home, so also UPLOAD copies of your pictures into your folder for this assignment by using the WORK ON THIS ASSIGNMENT link at the bottom of this page. NOTE: Use the RIGHT-CLICK mouse function and select OPEN IN NEW WINDOW so that you can easily return to this page. 5. Try to get about 4 or 5 images for each feature of your work. For example, if you plan to
have a car in your work, don't just find one car, find a few so that you can choose the best one.
