For this assignment you are to produce a life-size portrait using a range of tones and detail with CHALKS and CHARCOAL. You will need to take into account the sketchbook tasks and activities that you will learn during lessons and apply this knowledge to your final portrait. You will receive more marks for using a full range of tone appropriately and and with good effect. Your work should also show good structure and proportion and include a full background. Look at some examples of student work in the Art Gallery by using the image icon (EXPLORE). Click on the document icon (EXPLORE) to read the assessment objectives, use the weblinks for more help such as BBC's Bitesize objectives. Collect a range of source images to help you with the subject for this assignment, stick them into your sketchbook for reference. Using your sourced images, complete some initial sketches and studies in your sketchbook. This will give you vital practise for your main work. Develop your work by modifying it through a series of alternative studies. Produce at least one full-page prep piece in your sketchbook for you to work from.
